I am so sorry that you and Michael got Covid - please take care of yourselves and don't rush to get back to normal activities. The Covid fatigue that people talk about is very real. Love your Ranunculus and I really do hope that it turns out perfectly. I have been known to block my projects more than once during knitting just to make sure that it fits. The baby blanket is progressing nicely.

Bless your heart for sharing content when you are still under the weather. Hope you feel better soon! Just adore you and your channel!
I love your ranunculus so far. The color is beautiful and can’t wait to see the end result.
AKA Nora did a gorgeous ranunculus in either a fingering or DK weight yarn and it turned out lovely.
Also check out Young Folk Knits she has a few ranunculus videos. I think she just posted one this week on the different ones she did. She talks about how many stitches she cast on and how she altered the increases to account for more neckline sts cast on. I found it very helpful.
Also Knit California has videos on the ranunculus as well. She knit a few on different bases.
Cheers to a speedy recovery, Nadine ❤

I was going to make these comments on your last video but didn’t. Since you’re talking about your WIP anxiety again, I thought I would chime in. These suggestions come from a WIP addict. I have a crazy about of WIPS currently being worked on and in hibernation. I try to focus on them but then I still want to cast on all the things or think of something for a gift and then am knitting on a deadline (stressful).
I have started picking about 3 projects at a time. I try to focus on just knitting them. I have set a goal to knit every day, even if it is just a row and to work on each project a little every week. This keeps me current as to where I am with the project so I can pick it up and knit it. Being focused on a few allows me to see progress. When I finish something, I can add something else into the rotation.
Some other thoughts are pair a deadline knit (stressful) with a really fun knit. Try to split your time between both or if you make so much progress on the deadline knit you can allow yourself to knit on the other project. For example, focus on just working on your baby blanket and your ranunculus.
My final trick is to assign projects for certain times when I knit. You could put your socks in the car and when your partner is driving, you could knit. That project could also be the one that you take to family gatherings or if you are at a concert, event, etc. I have assigned projects to my patio knitting time or just for when I am watching podcasts. Things to keep me focused and dedicated to the project.

I avoid second sock syndrome by casting on the first and doing the ribbing. Then casting on the second and do the ribbing. And go back and forth. Maybe knit 20!rounds on #1 then switch and do the same on sock 2. Never have second sock syndrome!!❤
    Love your podcast!!
PS. Watch the Knitistry Nerds. They have a worksheet to track your WIPs that I use. Keeps me motivated.

Hope you feel better soon Nadine! When I got covid my first thought was yipeee a whole week of knitting in bed, but i ended up so sick i couldn't even watch Netflix let alone knit anything. Waste of a a week off work. For your Ranunculus, if you go into the projects on ravelry and click advanced search, you can't search by gauge but you can search by needle size and yarn weight. I selected 3.5, 3.75 and 4 mm needles and knit using a fingering weight and it narrows it down to about 200 projects instead of 24,000. Still a lot to look through but maybe worth a shot? couldn't find anyone that used your exact yarn but you might find something close.

I love your Ranunculus . The colour is lovely and the addition of the cable is a great idea 😍 I look forward to seeing the finished item.I have recently finished my first one (in dk) and have already purchased the same yarn (West Yorkshire Spinners - Elements) in a different colour to make my second. 😅
    Another enjoyable episode. Many thanks.

First when I saw the combination of the two green colorways I thought they looked good together, but I agree that the suri alpaca takes over. A lace weight mohair might have given you the desired effect. I must admit that I like getting new yarns and casting on new projects more than I like actually finishing them. It's good to have at least one mindless knit on the go for when you want to watch tv (or you you have a "covid brain") and one which is more challenging. I hope you both are well now.

Every time I watch one of your videos I have to laugh from the bottom of my heart - you seem to be such a warm-hearted and humorous person! And the yarn combo was really hideous... 😄
Maybe you could try casting on both socks at a time and then work both socks staggered. That way you have a simple knit on one sock (e.g. simple stockinette on the leg) and a more mindful one on the other side (e.g. heel) before being "allowed" to start the next section. At least that works for me and that way I avoid second sock syndrome or tension issues.
I hope you get better soon, make good progress on your urgent gift knit and your beautiful coloured Ranunculus! 🧶

I think it´s good that the cascade and the surialpaca weren´t a match because it would have created a very warm garment. Alpaca is very warm and as your yarn is thicker than a lace weight silkmohair, I think you should not knit it yarn used double either. It would make a wonderful light and airy cardigan and you could use a pattern which uses lace weight silkmohair doubled. I hope your ranunculus turns out well. I have knitted one and I have been planning doing a summer version of it but haven´t decided what yarn to use. I have seen it knitted of fingering weight merino and they have looked great. I think I´d like to knit of linen or a cotton-linen blend yarn. I hope you have beaten the covid now.

So sorry to hear that you got Covid. I hope you feel better soon.
You might like the Cumulus top for your suri. There are a couple of versions so you might find one that allows you to use the suri while still being able to wear it in your climate.
Your Ranunculus looks beautiful. Hopefully the neckline will relax a little in blocking and that your fit will work out for you.

I'm finishing my first sweater and it's going very well, but also very boring. Stockinette forever. But it IS easier to knit while I watch TV than all my lace shawls have been. Since you mentioned yarns from Hobbii, I thought I'd mention BC Garn Allino, Hobbii Olivin, and Hobbi Seashell. Like you, I live in a hot and humid climate. Wool is unthinkable and 100% cotton is too heavy. The first two are 50/50 linen and cotton and the Seashell is linen/bamboo/cotton. I'm currently using the Allino on aforementioned sweater (tee) and have bought several colors of Seashell and a sweater quantity in one color. I've also got a sweater quantity in another yarn I got from Hobbii, New Arezzo by Hjertegarn. It's also a bamboo/linen/cotton blend, but not as soft as Seashell. I'll let you know after I try it out.

I love the cumin-color sweater for your coloring. If the sweater is tight under the arms, just do a few more rows of raglan increases. Better to have the yoke depth than try to block it to a comfortable size.

I hope you both feel better soon. Really like your ranunculus sweater! Beautiful color❤. The neon green yellow though .... Im not knitting anything at the moment. Just finished a zipper sweater by petite knit for my husband. Now I just need to find a zipper for it 😂. Im working hard on a crochet blanket though for my youngest son. He will start university in Utrecht in September and asked me to make him a blanket for his room there. But I really want to cast on a summer sweater too. Regards from Christel in the Netherlands

Your greeny Suri & Cascade 220 looks quite nice on screen but you definitely need to go with what you see in real. I have not used the Suri or seen it in real but I find even with mohair added to another yarn, the mohair shade always takes over the yarn color. Hope you feel better.

It's happened to me as well with a mustard color I bought online. A cotton and merino mix. I have now started and frogged 3 different projects with it and tried to combine it with 2 other types of yarn. The color just doesn't work for me no matter what I do! 😢 I've come to understand that mustard colors are just very difficult. They can pull yellow, green or puke 😂 very easily. And they are also hard to combine. Lesson learned.

Bahahahaha! I was just looking at the fibre content info for your 2023 MKAL shawl, and was working really hard to figure out what GAWJUS stood for… Gotland, Alpaca, W??…. And then I couldn’t figure out the maths because above it it says 20/80% something and something, how could you also have 100%… and then penny dropped! I am such a dork!!

Hope you're feeling better soon & bless you for still managing to do an episode, and an engaging one too. I have a wip which needs to be finished, a cardigan for my brother. Sheesh, do I get a daily text message asking if it's finished yet?. I only have the forearms of the sleeves and the front band to do but for some reason I've lost the joy. There's a lot of detailed textured patterning and I've been making myself knit half hour to an hour at a time a few times a day and not working on anything till it is finished. I think a raft of much smaller projects after this one is finished

I have yet to make a Ranunculus but definitely plan to. I thought I saw some podcasts where people were using fingering single and made out OK. If I can find one, I will make note of it after this message. I think more rows had to be knit before separating for the armhole. I will see what I can find.

Loved this video. I'm just completing a Ranunculus that I started last week in Drops Air. Unfortunately I'll have to wear it over a shirt as although the yarn is so soft it still prickles me! First I tried out the pattern in some old, acrylic/wool yarn that I doubt I'll finish. I'm wondering about the gauge in my next attempt but I don't think I'll go as far as using 4mm needles. So far the summer here in England has been very cold and wet and I'm looking at my cotton/silk yarn doubtfully! I'm interested to know which brand of needles you use for the hat as I've had difficulty using 40cm circulars where the tips are very short.

    Hello Nadine,
A thought about your unsuccessful color combination: yellows are particularly tricky to combine. Your pairing appears to be a conflict in the color value of the two yellows you tried to mix. I had a similar problem will similar colors on a project and I work with color all the time in my professional work. This is where using the trick of taking a photo of the two colors and converting the photo into black and white would help you see the difference in their visual value (dark/light) contrast. Because yellows have a visually bright nature we often perceive them to be lighter in value than they are. If the values had been closer between the two yarns it probably would have worked. Hope this helps on future projects.
I do enjoy your cheerful videos even when you are not feeling your best. Get well.

Dearest Nadine, Why do you take your lovely engagement ring off? I cannot tell you how many women I know, including my mother, who have lost their ring. There is almost nothing you can do that will damage a diamond. But if you keep putting it on and off, I do fear you will lose it. Forgive me for the unsolicited advice.
