  • So we have arrived into Canberra after flying on the brand new Qantas A220 and the first place on today's video is Mount Ainslie which provides a panoramic view of Canberra. From here we will check out the National War Memorial, National Art Gallery, before making our way over to parliament House (Capital Hill). We will spend some time in Braddon, Lonsdale Street for lunch before making our way back through the city to commonwealth park to admire the river views. All of this done within 12 hours.

Great video, Luke! Canberra does look like a peaceful place to visit. Thank you for sharing your experiences there. I will say that I'm with you on the modern art. I prefer the classical stuff much more, Hope you were able to rest up after all that walking!

Hey Michael, I appreciate the comment. It was a long day that’s for sure… but great to check out Canberra for the first time.

Nicely crafted video about the Nation’s Capital Luke. Very cinematic too :) another good way to see Canberra is by hopping on the e scooters you can now even ride them out to the satellite city of Belconnen! Great for riding around all the institutions along LBG!

Thanks mate! I much prefer using my 15 pro max to video these days.. makes travelling much easier. Never used to e scooters, even in Adelaide 😆 it is something I should look into though… would help getting A to B much faster and reduce use of Ubers haha

Cheers Luke.I hope you are OK mate. You know I always wondered why Canberra is Australia's capital city.By watching your video I can say that it is a nice quiet city but nothing more.Ιt doesn't compare to other cities like Sydney,Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide or Darwin maybe. These are famous places with lots of monuments, museums, special sightseeings and culture. It's like Greece where Athens is the absolute capital compared to other major Greek cities.Τhere couldn't be anyone else with this characteristic. That is my opinion of course and I really enjoyed the video.Best wishes mate.Greetings from Athens

Yeah I think it was specifically designed or planned to be the capital… it is very well laid out… but yes I know what you mean. Thanks mate, all the best 👍

The Molonglo River was dammed in 1963 to form Lake Burley Griffin. Note, you only visited central Canberra. I live in one of the most southern suburbs around 18km away from the centre.

Thanks for that info! Yep… limited time to really explore Canberra and next time I’ll hire a car.. did the best I could with 12 or so hours. I appreciate the comment 👍

@@LukeCrisp If you are into cars, try and make it here in early January 2025 for Summernats. Also have a look at Screensound (Film & Sound Archives) close to the city centre. Outside of the centre, there is the Mint in Deakin. Further south outside the city is Mount Stromlo Observatory, Cotter Dam, Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve, Tidbinbilla Deep Space Tracking Station (NASA) and Corin Dam that often gets snow in winter.

I heard that ACT legalized cannabis. Do they have shops and places to smoke?

It hasn't been legalised. It's only decriminalised. You can use it, you can't sell it or use it in public
