Rahul doesn't have to worry about keeping the promises he makes...he knows the Congresss is never coming to power with majority and some or the other ally will happily stop any absurb budget allocations for outladish promises...also, Rahul knows by now that with luck the Congress needs just 150 seats to form the government, even if the vote share remains where it is. I don't know why political commentators are seeing him differently now because his approach has been much the same whether the Congress perform well or poorly.

10 years is not really a huge time gap. People who voted in 2009, 2014, 2019 and 2024 will also most likely vote in 2029. So, they have seen and experienced both sides. The analysis of the yatra seems to find correlation where there was none. The results were primarily based on very local state level issues. UP, Bengal and Maha votes changed. Without that it is a barren land for congress and allies. If that changes by next election, it will he worse that 2019 results. 27 parties will have a hard time staying together than 4-5 on BJP side, these years will expose the congress development model in states ruled by them. Promises are easy to believe when there is anti incumbency but disenchantment is equally fast when those freebies can’t be sustained.

He is still politically naive surrounded by a coterie of advisors, leaders and intellectuals who are not rooted in ground reality. He lacks experience, intelligence, political acumen and in depth understanding of a constantly evolving, churning and aspiring India. That puts him and his party at a disadvantage on many issues where they are unable to put a coherent stand and stance with conviction. Congress performed better this summer not because they were considered a viable political alternative but because of economic and social anxieties among underprivileged, marginalised and vulnerable groups. BJP's internal bickering, poor candidate selection, lack of electoral support from its ideological mentor i.e. the RSS and over confidence also helped its cause. Indians are confronting a dilemma where political options and governance choices are limited. Some are not entirely satisfied with the current regime, some are agitated over its illiberal policies but most of them don't put their trust in the immature, inexperienced opposition unclear on the ideological question, doesn't have the roadmap for India and often work at cross purpose to undermine each other. It's also riven with contradictions and differences. Perception, image and their stints in power is no different from the ones in power. Leadership is another question that bogs down opposition parties and groups.

To be fair to RG, he probably has finally realized that Indian electorate is not really known for its smartness, let alone asking common sense questions. And 5 years down the line, most of them will forget whatever was promised to them by RG. It will be once again - a new election and a new set of sky-high promises. And the cycle continues. Asking the right questions is a skill that no school in India ever teaches it students.

      no
if he had came to power in 2024 and implemented his manifesto (just 50% like spending 12 lakh cr per annum) fiscal deficit, would have shot by 8-9 % and inflation over 11% - 13% , causing Rupee to fall rapidly so to reduce inflation RBI would raise interest rates causing lower business activity and country would have seen stagflation (that happened in 2010-2013) making everybody worse off. situation by 2028 would be of hyper inflation, even higher unemployment.

@@JayP-m1z Not really. What makes you think that he will implement the scheme in full scale from the first year itself? Since when did politicians in India started fulfilling all their promises?
If you read the manifesto carefully, Congress has not laid out the exact eligibility criteria for that 'khata khat' scheme. It's all shady, with many grey areas. All he has to do is open the scheme only for a very narrow set of targeted high-impact vote bank (read Muslims, and SC/ST community) that can help him make quick gains. And then expand the scope during the last one year or the election year to the other communities. Simultaneously, he can cut back on the many infra projects to make room for the additional cash required to fund his 'khata khat' scheme. Nobody really notices or loses anything in short term due to halting those projects.
As far as inflation is concerned, it is a middle class problem. Political parties don't give 2 cents about this class. The poor will be happy with their freebies.
Meanwhile to deflect attention of others, he can start with his caste census drama, which will pacify lot of people in the lower strata of the society who are politically highly influential. Again here, he doesn't necessarily have to actually take action. Remember, the BJP will create obstacles, which he can use to his advantage to buy time further.
Indian electorate are not really good at following up on promises. They need to see something moving and they are happy.
If you look carefully read his manifesto, he has promised nothing to the middle class - and this is also the class that is most stressed one, but with very little political influence. He is mostly catering to the lower section of the society who can be easily pleased with some freebies and more promises of reservations.

All this guy wants is to become the PM. Manchild he is. Just listen to his incoherent and absolutely disastrous talks in US. The whole smoke and mirrors is coming crashing down

The problem with Indian Politics is Rahul Gandhi as a dynast of Nehru family is No. 1 priviliged among 140 Crore Population of India and still he is able to get away scott free by abusing any person happened to be a Forward caste (may be even a poor Brahmin or some very very middle class Thakur) as" you belong to priviliged 20% of this country". To me it appears the mist atrocious and irresponsible statement any Politicsl leader can make.
Also, Mr. D.K.Singh misses out the 6th point is don't take your Domestic politics when you go abroad. But, Rahul Gandhi can not speak anything else other than Modi RSS bashing and he repeats the same when he goes abroad forgetting that he is on a fireign soil indirectky hinting them to intervene and do regime change. Very very dangerous to the sovereignity of India as a Nation.

If this is doomed 'dangerous' then democracy itself is 'dangerous', elections are an act of destabilizing the country. You sound like a 13th century citizen, content to live in a monarchy where they'd send emissaries 😂

Nehru wanted to come to Power at any cost. For this reason, He was partially responsible for forcing Jinnah out of Congerss and partition of Bhaarat to hapen, Which would end up divinding Bhaarat into 2 Nations.
Today Nehru's Great Grand son is on the same path.. Power at any cost, Even if it means defaming India abroad, teaming up with Anti India elements like Khalistanis and Anti India forces.
