More Indians live and die in extreme pain than any other country. The narrative should also include why opioids are important for easing suffering. Regulations against misuse need to be balanced with easing access for medical use.

It seems my comment with more information was deleted by youtube auto mod or the print (I hope not), but this video starts off with a wrong information about the research and researcher. The photo shown is NOT the Pradeep Gupta that authored the fentanyl paper (something that is obvious by the person's age in the photo - google him and you will find his first paper in psychology from around 2015). And that fentanyl paper this video supposed refers to is a pretty obscure piece of literature from 19 years ago with just 52 citations. No source was given to back up the claim that it was 'one of the most widely adopted Indian technology' when a chemical methods paper that would be that seminal would rack up thousands of citations.
This video starts with pretty poorly researched information and I hope it gets corrected.
Edit - The print updated the video by blurring the wrong photo. Great to know feedback was taken constructively. I don't blame them to not replacing the image since I have been unable to find the image of the scientist myself.

Seems the paper suggests one of the method of fentanyl synthesis. The method could be poor in legitimate industrial setting (like safety concern) and hence has not attracted mainstream attention, leading to poor citation. However, illegitimate activities may utilize the method suggested, that will not have any citations.
Remember, in Breaking Bad, Walt was using a non-mainstream and obscure method. I am sure you wouldn't have found any citation of Walt's method in the BB universe.
Its of course my conjecture. Also, I agree that there must be some source to suggest that the method is in wide use in illegitimate industry.

Excellent video. Thanks for bringing to the fore the serious problem India is facing and has to live with in the coming decades. What's found in Noida is tip of the iceberg. India is already in the market and thriving. India has two big advantages which are negative in this area - being the pharmaceutical capital of the world and having the highest population in the youth - both are otherwise good things but in drugs case, these make India a potential customer and producer. Apart from curbing in all ways possible, the important part I would like to suggest is creating awareness in the public. Drugs and problems related to their usage should become part of curriculum from class 6th onwards till graduation. Many educational institutes in urban centres have become target for distribution. Young ones from the age of 10 itself are targeted. High level monitoring is required.
Very important subject and please keep following up on the developments in the area.

It not going be a major problem yet. Remember you have to have money to buy the drugs and India doesn't have a big Middle Class. What can happen is that they make here and sell else where like they did in the Opium Wars.

Synthetic drug overdoses have been increasing, particularly here in Goa where quite a few young people have even lost their lives. We need to launch a massive campaign to create awareness about the matter & teach the youth what it really means to 'get high'.
I used to be addicted to heroin/brown sugar, alcohol & all kinds of tranquilizers, all of which I quit in a rather unusual way by using charas & psychedelics, which I later stopped using, after developing dependence, with the practise of yoga (that included pranayama) & vipassana meditation which purify the body & mind giving the practitioner a subtle, sublime 'high' that does not require any stimulants/intoxicants. And now sixty one I have been enjoying life like never before.....even doing the raves entirely 'high on my own supply'!
One doesn't really need to ingest anything from the outside to get high....we have it all inside of us, & all we need to do is learn how to generate it! 'Make in India' dear, we have this technology right here!! 🤩

The issue of synthetic drugs in India is rapidly escalating, yet it remains largely unaddressed in public discourse. This silent but dangerous trend poses a severe threat to public health and safety and could worsen significantly in the coming years if not tackled proactively. It is crucial for our nation’s leaders, policymakers, and influential figures to recognize the urgency of this problem and take decisive action before it reaches unmanageable levels. Thank you for bringing attention to this matter; let’s hope it inspires those in positions of responsibility to address this growing crisis with the seriousness it demands.
A few years ago, we would occasionally hear news about small amounts of synthetic drugs being seized, with arrests typically involving low-level peddlers. However, in recent times, we are seeing massive quantities-tons of cocaine, methamphetamine, and MDMA-worth over 2,000 crore rupees being seized. This starkly indicates how far drug cartels have infiltrated India, much like the control they exert in Mexico. If this trend continues, it may not be long before our country faces a situation similar to Mexico’s, with drug mafias deeply entrenched and difficult to uproot.

Rehabilitation centres are important ofcourse but discrediting good parenting saying "children just don't listen" is plain wrong. Rehabs are a big business too, doubt every study that says rehabs are a solution or one that discredits the role of parents, such studies just may have been funded by interest groups.

7:20 This drug seizure chart by no means is a statistic to know the relative usage of various drugs by state. Just look at Goa's statistic 😅 ... Rather, this statistic may be revealing in the aspects of corruption, policing or perhaps social acceptance in each state. Praveen has concluded the video rightly.
