Right! It looks awful before so much better! I still have Kayden’s coat that I need to do but I’m fearing it won’t fit him by the time I get it back to you 😬
Mam...... I have puffer jacket which is Red and Blue with Red Zip and i want to dye it fully Black. But it's kind Plastic material from outside. Will This Dye work over it? Pleaae help.🙏🏻
I’m not sure but it may work… it may also make the plastic outside looks splotchy. I was honestly quite shocked that this coat turned out so well. I tried it again with another north face that was white and multicolored with teddy bears, and it turned out very blotchy. If it’s very black, it should be dark enough to cover all the color.
Just got the exact same jacket bought it recycled and is dirty exactly like this so i wanted to change the colour and this is the first video to pop up also i want it army green what is the odds 😂 really great walkthrough btw is very appreciated 🙏🏼🙏🏼
No, it didn’t bleed in the washing machine at all. I first dried it with a black towel and then the color never came out. Not even out playing in the snow. And it’s definitely not a waterproof jacket. It gets very wet.
I say go for it! I actually have another jacket it’s a white and black north face that has some stains that can’t be removed that I’m planning to fix with the same dye so I would love to know how yours turns out!
I think that is an awesome idea. These coats are too expensive to just get rid of especially if they still have some life in them. 😊 I would do some research and see what color you could put over pink to create the color you desire. You have to look at the color wheel. If you Google it it should give you some ideas. Good luck! 🍀
How'd you get it all puffed up like new? My puffer down jacket says DRY CLEAN ONLY. im worried about putting it in boiling water. Got a feeling i'll ruin it but it's Orange and i dont like bright colours now. was thinking Black.
You know, 😆 I didn’t even think about ruining it when I put it into the boiling water because it seemed like it was already ruined to me and I just rinsed it out really really good and then put it in the dryer with a towel afterwards and it puffed right back up. I do believe dry cleaning involves an actual dryer and then chemical sprayed on the clothes to get the stains and dirt out. If it’s a lighter orange, you should definitely be able to get it to turn black. I would use the metal pot and then I would make sure to use the whole bottle of dye.
About to throw away my mom Windbreake vintage jacket/coat beautiful piece but has stained in sone area after i washed it now I'm going to change the colors hope I can still rock it after...mom will be proud from heaven🥲tks to your video i got some ideas 10/24
@@AngelGirl4810 awe I love that! 🥰I learned that on my last fabric dye video I needed to go darker. I use the RIT royal blue and the white north face final color did not come out like I expected. I went back to the store and got the midnight navy so I’m going to try to redo it, so I do recommend that darker color (midnight navy) if you’re dying yellow. I think it’s an amazing idea to refurbish something vintage, especially with it belonging to your mother. I wish I had some thing of my moms to refurbish.🙏🏻 😄good luck let me know how it goes!
Hi! Do you know if the jacket is filled with feathers or polyester fluff? I’ve got a jacket but the filling is feather so i’m not sure how boiling the jacket might damage the feathers. However if your jacket was feather filled i’ll go ahead with the dying! thanks for the video either way :)
Hi. Great looking new jacket. Got a question, does it bleed ? Did you wash it ? I am about to dye my ski jacket but i don't want it bleeding on me. Because i did that before and it is still bleeding.
No, we didn’t wash it afterwards and I did not notice it bleeding onto his clothes and he wore it every day. I think it was because the material held the dye so good. I just made sure I rinsed it very very well.
I just fluffed it in the dryer like regular on lower heat, you wanna make sure it’s completely rinsed out so you don’t get any of the dye in your dryer, of course
Thank you! It’s still the same when it comes to warmth, it still looks exactly the same like it did at the end of this video… he is actually is wearing it again this winter but I think after this winter, it won’t fit him any more 😕
Nope I’ve just given it a good rinse but I haven’t actually washed it… it’s never rubbed off on his clothes or anything like that and he plays outside and it does get wet… if it still fits him this winter, I will be washing it 😁 it’s been in the closet all summer.
@yoweeno9609 yes I did by hand and I didn’t notice any fading or the color bleeding and like I said it’s gotten wet a lot because my son would play out in the snow and he come in soaked and no color transfer onto his clothes underneath… I say go for it!
It didn’t darken like the rest of the jacket. Luckily, I don’t know how it came out that color it just did. I’m about to try it with a white Northface jacket I got for my nephew that needs some help so I’m praying it turns out good.😁🙏🏼
Oh no I’m sorry😩 that sucks. Did you use the blue Rit dye? Because technically yellow and blue make green so in theory, it should create that color but I guess it could depend on the fabric as well.
I’ve put it in the gentle cycle and then very very low heat in the dryer and it’s always come out pretty good. This one was yellow and the stains were impossible to get out plus the black feathers were showing through.
I think it’s interesting that people are doubting that it’s the same coat. Do you seriously believe I went (with my very limited single mother budget) and purchased another $200 north face coat just to make this video 😂 sheesh!
@atifhussain524 thank you 😘 yes it’s really works and I actually have a white Northface that I’m going to try to do the same thing to with the blue dye so I’ll post a video of that when I do it😁
I would try to get the darkest black Possible. It should diet black pretty easily, but make sure you use the stainless steel pot. Also make sure you don’t splatter it and use gloves. Anything that does get splattered just wipe it up with a Clorox wipe immediately.
This is so wholesome... Im in awe
Thank you 🥰that is incredibly sweet of you to say 😘
Wow....like magic. It came out so great.
Thank you! It was an amazing outcome 😁
You did an excellent job! Looks brand new again!
Thank you 🥰🥰🥰
Looks great! Just a tip but if you use dryer balls it fluffs up the filling to get it as puffy as it was when you bought it
Thank you!
Way better than expected

Absolutely you’re welcome☺️. I appreciate you tuning in and I really hope it turns out well for you! ❤️

Omg! So cool🎉 you have to let me know how it turns out! 😃 it was meant to be!
After dying and washing a couple times, Does the color still bleed when you wash it in the washing machine?
No, it didn’t bleed in the washing machine at all. I first dried it with a black towel and then the color never came out. Not even out playing in the snow. And it’s definitely not a waterproof jacket. It gets very wet.
I bought a white sweater from Target and I was planning of dyeing it midnight navy just like the kind of dye you have
I say go for it! I actually have another jacket it’s a white and black north face that has some stains that can’t be removed that I’m planning to fix with the same dye so I would love to know how yours turns out!
i have a coat i spent like $200 on but its a pink color that i dont want to wear anymore, im going to try to dye it

Lovely video, just wondering if the dye, dyed your pot
Why thank you! Greatly appreciate the compliment ❤️No, I used a stainless steel pot and it did not dye it 😁

How did it turn out?
@@MissMayAllDay pink😅😅😅😅😅
Hi!
Do you know if the jacket is filled with feathers or polyester fluff? I’ve got a jacket but the filling is feather so i’m not sure how boiling the jacket might damage the feathers.
However if your jacket was feather filled i’ll go ahead with the dying! thanks for the video either way :)
Yes, it is a down filled jacket. Boiling it did not affect the puffiness at all, the feathers seem normal 😊
do you keep it at a boil the whole time the jacket is in the pot?
I brought the water to a boil, and then I believe I kept it on a medium/ low setting. It’s hard to gauge because I have an electric oven.
Should I closed the stove after it achieve the right temperature? Then put the jacket?
I kept the burner on for the first 15 minutes and then it seem to stay hot for the remaining 15 minutes. I just kept checking with the thermometer.
I tried this with the same coat and it didn’t work pls can you point me in the right direction of what kind of dye you used
Yes, I use the synthetic RIT dye color was midnight navy 😊
Is the north face logo still white? I know it doesn’t dye the threads but is there like a colour tint to it or nothing?
It did darken it a little bit, but compared to the jacket it stayed relatively light. It’s still quite noticeable.
@@MissMayAllDayhow can I keep the logo white?
Hi, that looks so good! What size pot did you use please?
Thank you so much! I used a pretty large cheap pot. I think you can get them from Walmart and believe it was 40 quarts.
Did the jacket fade after washing it ?
No, not one bit and he played in the snow quite a bit with the jacket unfortunately, it no longer fits him, but I still have it🙂
such a great idea!
Thank you!
Is it down filled? Did it retain it loft?
Yes, it is down filled and it looks great. It looks just as good as new nice and fluffy.😊

Ok, understood. Thank you
@massimilianoarena509 you’re welcome😊
does it hold? or does it slowly come out in wash?
It’s actually seemed to hold up pretty well through the wash. I’ve only washed it once with dark colors, but it looks exactly the same!
Did you wet the jacket beforehand?
No, I put it into the pot of boiling Dye completely dry… I don’t recall the instructions telling me too wet it prior
@@MissMayAllDay thanks!
@racheltaylor9605 you are welcome 😊
How much was the dye
You can find it for around $5 USD at Walmart.
Hi! Great video! How warm did the coat stay?
Thank you! It’s still the same when it comes to warmth, it still looks exactly the same like it did at the end of this video… he is actually is wearing it again this winter but I think after this winter, it won’t fit him any more 😕
Was that coat polyester
Yes, 100% polyester lined and down filling
It parachute cloth 😮
Yes, I guess that’s a good way of describing it. It’s like a windbreaker type material filled with feathers.
Excellent job! Looks better than the original colour.
Thank you! I’m agree with you 😊 It looked really good when it was brand new but after a couple weeks, it just started looking really dingy.
So u didn’t wash it?
Nope I’ve just given it a good rinse but I haven’t actually washed it… it’s never rubbed off on his clothes or anything like that and he plays outside and it does get wet… if it still fits him this winter, I will be washing it 😁 it’s been in the closet all summer.
@@MissMayAllDay so you havent washed the jacket at all in general? just want to know if the dye still remained cause i wanna dye my jacket aswell

That’s a literally different jacket 🤨
Nope that’s the same jacket. It just completely transformed it. 👍🏻

Then again, people name their child “christ-ian”
Yes, this bitch❤️ named her son Massiah King… he sure does have a lot to live up to …doesn’t he 🙌🏼
How to dye puffer jacket from grey to black???
I would try to get the darkest black Possible. It should diet black pretty easily, but make sure you use the stainless steel pot. Also make sure you don’t splatter it and use gloves. Anything that does get splattered just wipe it up with a Clorox wipe immediately.
