The unopen 8 tracks reminded me of the gifts my grandmother would have stored in a cabinet for those last minute guests that might be invited for various reasons. She would have 5 or 6 things, and if they were not needed, they were put back in the cabinet for next year. I know every few years, she would donate those and buy another load of generic gifts.
Your grandmother sounds like a really good woman. My maternal grandmother was like, but she passed away when I was 4, 1958. On the other hand, my paternal grandmother was a total witch. Really mean. You are blessed to have such good memories of her.
Alot of us ladies still do that gift box each year for Christmas. I have one going year to year as I find things I think the person would like and usually on sale bad thing is some years I forget to take everything out lol. I have a warm fuzzy blanket in there now for a young friend who likes to cuddle with her 4 year old son and watch movies. Makes it so much easier at Christmas less stress less grabbing something last minute. Anna In Ohio
I do that same thing with picture frames and candle sets. 8 track tapes seems less generic though. 🙂 (Never give a ouija board as a random last minute gift.)😂
Love Patrick’s new haircut. You guys are doing such a great job on this house. So nice to see that you care about the condition of the home you are leaving for a new family.
It’s a lovely house that now can be used for growing another family as it was intended. I’m amazed that there was very little filth and damage despite the amount of hoard. You both did a great job that can feel impossible.
I hope Alex will let us know where he found the good stuff like the safes and the money. I'm so glad you found them Alex because with all your hard work you deserve to get a bonus at the end of this adventure. I felt bad for you and Patrick working so hard but at the same time enjoying the videos so much. 🥰❤
Wow! We all missed your hoarded house 🏠 episodes. What an incredible amount of work, but you and Patrick were a super team. I can’t wait to see the safe episode. ❤
I just want to thank you for providing such clean and wholesome entertainment that is exciting to follow and watch as you go on your adventures finding trinkets of treasure sorting through items to find the real deal your friends and family are such a positive and friendly bonus to all of your videos. And to see you classify through all of that hoard and finding homes for most of it to charity and filtering out The Unwanted to the dumpster with recycling in mind is impressive. Keep doing what makes you happy and may all good things continue to happen for you and your family. JT
I think you should keep the vacuum for any other clearance houses you need it for as it has done a good job.I cant believe how quick you have cleared that house.well done both of you
Kirby vacs have s universal belt that hasn't changed over the years. Most vaccuum shops carry them. Change the belt every few monthes... will last forever..was impressed at how well it did considering how old it was.
Another amazing transformation I’m so pleased you found the safes you deserve to double your investment with all the work you and Patrick have put in 👍🏻
I'm always blown away by how quickly you clean these hoarded homes up. Plus the wonderful positive outlook you bring . I hate seeing Patrick feeling so sick. Feed him some chicken soup! I'm really impressed by that old Kirby. They're great work horses. Long ago and far away I had a roommate that had a Kirby and it was a great vacuum. Even had the shampoo attachment. Can't bet those things. Looking to the final results from this to see how you make out.
So great to see the big job almost finished! What a Herculean effort. Please consider doing a live feed or a video of the big sort on the China sets. It would give us a chance to see Melissa and one or more of the kids also! I just think that would be a lot of fun, and would probably help the China sell better also. :-)
I agree. That's if they wanna be a part of Alexander's Ragtime Band of laborers. Amazing work! What a beautiful house that is, though not into what's "in" retro now, but for the time well built and loved! I have so many thoughts rushing out of my head about this show and it's amazing the most precious gift of all, is in watching someone discarding trash in what was once a a home with many secrets and buried treasures. Thank goodness Alexander knows his shite! I could suggest a few ideas to make extra dollars while taping the show, and be giving back, as well. 👍
Whoever will be handling the sell of the house will be delighted that you have emptied the it so quickly. Y’all need to take that Kirby with you for the next house; what a workhorse!
Alex, I have made respect for you and what you do. Yes you do it for a living, but you honestly care about everyone and not just the one's involved. As for you in the compromising position with the predator, that was priceless you had me laughing so hard tears came out. Thanks for the show, and thank you Patrick for being such a great costar!
I kind of love that house, especially the sauna. How sweet of the family(?) to bring you soup and cookies. You and Patrick have really done a mindblowing amount of work in such a short time. Has anyone mentioned the name of the artist who made Predator?
I am so happy you found the safe’s and jewelry, etc! Can’t wait to see what’s in everything! You guys did a fantastic job in that house, unbelievable❣️🙏🏻👍🏼🥰
You 2 have done an excellent job so far !!! 👏 You are a person after my own heart ❤️. I was raised by a perfectionist, so I come by it honestly. Y'all are great examples to all of us.
I can’t even imagine the number of people you gave Christmas to. I itch the way the economy is, all the items you donated will give a lot of folks an opportunity to buy items at a discounted price.
I look forward to the next days video. I think a shot of you, Patrick & the Predator statue standing side by side like good buddies might make an excellent Christmas card. Or Christmas post. 🎄
Yay safes! More excitement to come!!🍿😊🍿 This has been such an interesting series, I’ve really enjoyed it. I am amazed that there was no sign of rodent intrusion. Perhaps I missed it, but I’m curious about the people that lived there. Alex, can you share some background on them while protecting their privacy? And the Corvette - what happened to that? Winchester Mystery House - the residence of the guy that invented the rifle. His widow began adding to the mansion, and adding and adding. It’s a beautiful strange house, purported to be haunted. If you ever visit near San Jose, California, take the tour.
I was feeling so miserable with so much pain. (I live with chronic pain) then as I was watching your video I found myself laughing out loud from seeing you kneeling between the predators legs talking to Patrick about taking photos and sending them out as Christmas cards. Thank you, brilliant.x
I think Kirby should send you a check for at least 2K for advertising there product so well lol,,,,I stopped the video and wrote this and 30 seconds later you mention it before going up in the attic , WOW
So relieved you got The Goods!! Can't wait for the live(s) Bless you for sorting and clearing the home for the first time in many years. Shocked the attic wasn't jam-packed full of everything!
I'm amazed !!! You and Patrick sure worked hard on this place and I know you both are thrilled to be almost done. Of course now more sorting to be done at your house.
Just finished watching the previous one, and was wondering when you will upload the next. It was here even before my thought could be complete! 😃 Really appreciate what you and your family do. Blessings from India!
I still have a working 8-track player in my stereo which I purchased in the 1970s. It has only a turntable and 8-track player. It’s a lovely piece of furniture which I use to this day. You’d never know it was a stereo.
I paused at the 8:00 minute mark because I had to show my husband the treadle sewing machine under the cabinet. We went out to get the Tiffany model Singer a few days ago that looks almost identical to what you have there. That’s a beautiful piece very heavy and very reliable. ❤
When you said you weren't going to show us what you found in this video, I actually stuck my tongue out at you. Thanks for making me revert to a little kid!
15:50 I just bought a home like this! So excited, which is one of the reasons I enjoyed watching this series. It's been inspiring to see you clean up that place because it's similar to mine. I grew up in a home build int 1895 with a stone foundation. It's still in our family and where my 2 sisters live, with my mom, until she passed in March 😢 I've lived in the second floor apartment of my duplex for the past 18 years, which was built in 1870. I spent 3 times the price of my current place, on a home very similar to the one you're standing in. My old duplex was very inexpensive (took $40k in repairs to move in) back in 2004. I haven't moved to the new place yet since it's my busy-season and I work from home. I spent the past 2 months having all the original hardwood floor refinished, installed a new electrical service panel inside and out, removed the old 70s paneling, and repaired and painted all the swirled plaster walls. Finally I need to finish replacing the living room, dining room, and hall with baseboard. Watching this series with you this past 2 weeks has reminded me of all the work that needed done. It stunk from 50 years of smoking. There were cables and telephone wires everywhere. But the saving grace is, it had never been updated or remodeled. The basement is unfinished, perfect for me to create a space of my own that house you have there. Of course I didn't have to empty it as you are doing. Next project is to replace every receptacle, light switch, and ceiling light. Everything was covered with sticky tar and nicotine stains. I'll be moving in soon, slowly but surely.
@@cynthiafisher9907 First I tried an Ozone machine. That didn't seem to work very well at all, but it was 50 years of smoking right? We started with the 2 obvious things, the carpets all got pulled out (revealing worn hardwood floors that had never been refinished). We pulled down all the 70's paneling and burnt it. Everything was sticky with tar, nasty! The biggest difference in the smell was after we scrubbed the hardwood floors twice with Murphy's Oil Soap. That Murphy's smell lingered for nearly 3 weeks, amazing! My business partner's brother paints homes for a living and used an expensive ($60/gallon) Sherwin Williams primer to seal all the walls. We did scrub things down first though he told me it wasn't necessary (should have seen the nasty water yuk). Then he painted the ceilings white, and the walls a gray color. The painter took down all the vertical blinds in the house and placed them in the basement. When I entered the house after he finished painting, I couldn't smell anything but paint. Every wall had been sealed. I was shocked when I went in the basement though, it smelled like smoke. It had never smelled like that before! On the way home after working on the house, I realized the smell had come from the blinds sitting in a pile down there. Those immediately went to the trash the next week. Everything that didn't get painted was scrubbed. The kitchen cabinets and brick facade backsplash, appliances, bathroom vanity and fixtures all were nasty. I moved on to all the bedroom and closet doors, windows, and baseboard. The difference on the windows alone, amazing! I got the water bill for last month and it was $30 alone for just cleaning haha! I return today (been 3 weeks since I was there) to see the refinished floors for the first time! But also I'll get to have a fresh smell of the results of the work. I started the process at the beginning of September, exactly 2 months of slow but steady progress of one day per week. Lots more to do but I'm excited to get to moving in.
You remind me off a modern Canadian version of the American father on "Leave It To Beaver". Refreshing, deceent. With much of the population with too much material items, unused, neglected, discarded due to commercialism overdone.....you have a lot g lasting career. And very needed. Good on ya!! 👍
It's shocking to see the difference with the rooms cleared out! Each of those boxes was like its own mini-hoard. It's impressive how much is finished with just a small crew. Wow!
Oh wow, can`t believe you got the house looking like that! There wasn`t a square inch in there that was clear! I`m so glad you found the safes I was beginning to wonder if they were in there at all. I really hope whatever is in there gives you your investment back tenfold, you work so hard for this! Love from Vancouver Island.
Glad you found the safes but your teasing us!! Well we can wait for another video!! You guys did a great job!! Wow 8 1/2 days!! No wonder you are tired!!
Too bad you couldn’t have set some of the furniture out on the curb, if that is allowed there. Some cities in the US allow it, but people that need it or want to fix and resale it come along and pick it all up! Would have saved you some hauling and money…I am shocked at how fast you two did this job! It’s amazing! Can’t wait for the Auction! 😊❤🎉👍
After watching a couple of these it changed the way I clean my garage. "Will I ever use this again? Why am I hanging on to this? Maybe I should get rid of this?"
I really hope that family appreciates all of yours and Patrick’s hard work. I know they were over whelmed. But I am glad it all did not end up in a land fill somewhere!!! You found some really cool stuff!
Was just ready for bed and yippee saw another episode ,so good to see this one produced the golden egg at last ,you soooo deserve it ,amazing amount of work
Wow, it's almost empty!! You two work so fast and efficiently. I missed what happened with the half trailer of stuff because later it was just the metal man, and you were talking about packing an empty truck. I must have missed a trip home and back. It looks amazing. That is a very nice house and I know it will be happy to have a new family in it, making their own memories.
Your whole demeanor changed when you found the safes & stuff!!! It was amazing to watch Alex! I'm excited to watch the next video! Thanks again for allowing us all into your lives!
I was glad and surprised that the attic wasn't packed full! Looking forward to the next video to see what treasures are in the lock boxes. But sad it'll be a wrap after that. Best of luck with the auctions! Have a blessed day

That Kirby kicked some hoarded house ass, lol

He probably was not discouraged while cleaning, because he had already found those!! Hopefully there is something good in them!
That's what the auctions are for :)
A lot of furniture.

We had a Kirby for years. It was great! Had to replace as I got older because it was too heavy to carry up and down stairs.
They're definitely not light weights that's for sure. They're built to last.

By the time the house was full, they were probably too old to go up there, :>(
Perhaps they moved it down before, we helped some elderly relatives to clear their attics and store stuff downstairs.

Even though it was full to the brim....it seems to be really clean unlike most hoarders.
That's why I think the cleanout went so fast
Too bad you couldn’t have set some of the furniture out on the curb, if that is allowed there. Some cities in the US allow it, but people that need it or want to fix and resale it come along and pick it all up! Would have saved you some hauling and money…I am shocked at how fast you two did this job! It’s amazing! Can’t wait for the Auction! 😊❤🎉👍
My aunt and uncle's house has that exact layout.
Just binged the first 10 parts of this series. Good stuff!
You guys turn trash into treasure and the video is a treasure as well. Thanks for another great episode.
After watching a couple of these it changed the way I clean my garage. "Will I ever use this again? Why am I hanging on to this? Maybe I should get rid of this?"
Good idea!
I'm a Texan, and I'm amazed that Patrick is wearing short sleeves when it's snowing!
Good job, Patrick worked hard on this one and the job is almost done. Look forward to the safe contents sorting.
You both are such hard workers. I'm impressed with the quickness you cleared this house. Looking forward to the next episode...
I really hope that family appreciates all of yours and Patrick’s hard work. I know they were over whelmed. But I am glad it all did not end up in a land fill somewhere!!! You found some really cool stuff!
Love your content. So excited to see what was in the attic. Nothing. I'm glad for you all😂👍❤️🕊🇨🇦
You really lucked out with the attic. I expected it to be almost as full as the house. I thought they would fill the attic before their living space.
Too hard to get up there and carry boxes of stuff. Anna In Ohio
another fine vid from Alex. gotta say you and Patrick looked totally exhausted! what a job. always enjoyable. thanks again.
