    My favorite quote is “If shoes are a problem remember their is a high schooler racing faster than you (with your super shoe) in a Brooks Ghost 16”

    For 5K training, I suggest adding the Adidas Adizero Takumi Sen to the mix. Also good for the 5K race.

    I’m glad I waited til the end of the video. I had second thoughts buying the Novablast 4 after hearing comments on the Rebel 4. I’m staying with the NB4.😁

    ES3 is the goat for me. I took ‘em for a two-hour run yesterday with pace changes and it, as usual, performs. Also with my second pair.

    I bought the Mach 6 (wide fit) on your recommendation and it's become my favourite everyday trainer, lovely for Z1 & Z2 training, with the ability to do intervals, though I prefer my ES3 (bought in a recent sale) for the faster runs and my Deviate Nitro 2 for road/trails or wet weather. I have no problem with stability in any of them.

    I know it didn't work for you but my fastest shoe for 10K and below would be the Hyperion Max. It has a pretty aggressive toe spring, combined with light weight and a reasonably grippy outsole, that make it a shoe I can really turn over quickly. I also have no problem with it at 10+ miles because I never feel like it's bottoming out.
    I really like the under foot feel of the Rebel v3 and I'd like to try the v4. We'll see if I get to it this year.

    • @supwell
      @supwell  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I can't wait for the Hyperion max 2! Looks like a solid update and brooks' new foams are really solid

    I really like the hoka Cielo road..it's a peba type foam and probably one of the most breathable uppers on the market..wish they put that upper on the Cielo x1 and make a great shoe..breathability is one of my must haves cos my feet get hot very quickly..the rebel 4 is ok for 5k unless it's a hot day..I really can't figure out the fascination with those plastic uppers..I have never used one I liked..good to see you made it home safely..road trips with small children can be a challenge for your sanity..😂

    I bought the Puma Velocity Nitro 3 instead of the Rebel v4 because I thought that it would be a little unstable in the heel area as the 1080 v13 was for heel striking. Anyways, I loved Velocity 3, and if I wanted to buy the Rebel v4 now .... not available anywhere and no sizes at all ... maybe in a month or two New Balance will launch more batches of the Rebel v4 around the world.

    Since i mostly run 10k's (and not so fast :)), I have most of these shoes except Nike and NB. Speed 3 is definitely the fastest but also softest. Mach 6 and Nova 4 took me while to break in. They felt really stiff at first but get nice and cushy after 50-60km. My favorite is probably Mach 6, it feels the most natural, has a nice little bounce and doesn't bottom out. Feels the same at the beginning and at the end of the run.
    Nova 4 is still nice, but it't the slowest, least natural shoe I have. You could probably run a marthon in these, they have enough cushion for that. One problem for me is that they're really warm. I won't use them until it's cold again :)

    The Hyperion Max is also a great 5k training shoe, it really unlocks at those faster paces

    I blew the bubbles in the heels of my Pegs since the 36 and didn't even had 100km on them so really hesitant to go back to the Peg didn't work since the 34 for me, I still rock the Speed 2 and I love it

    For the rebel v4, do you think its good for speedwork on the track? Getting into marathon training and wanted a speedier shoe for 400, 800s, etc for speed days. Did some easy runs in them and didn't really have the pop I thought they would, but taking them down to the track soon. Thinking maybe a plated shoe might be more of the feel I want on speed days.

    • @supwell
      @supwell  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      it's solid for faster running but definitely doesn't have as much pop as a plated shoe. if i wanted that fast feeling i'd go for the boston 12 or even a durable racer like the saucony endorphin pro 4 or hoka rocket x2 - one of those might have more of what you're looking for

    Found you 3ish weeks ago and enjoying the longer form content. Shoe question, I am looking to replace my Speed 3s (4th pair) for a shoe for 12-20 mile runs that will include marathon pace. I am a 3 hour marathoner and do not want to do these runs in a carbon shoe. What are your recs?

  • @hobotify

    Video recommendation: running shoes for casual wear. I prefer to own just one pair of shoes at a time, so i want something that´s good for 5k-10k, but one that i can also wear around town, to the office, or on a night out. So preferably something with a LOT of durability, and subtle colorways. The DN2 seems great, but i wouldn´t want to wear a plated shoe all day, everyday.
    I´m currently cosidering trail running shoes for this purpose. I wouldn´t run on trails, but the overlays and thick outsole add durability, they´re often waterproof, and come in all-black colorways. Yeah they´re heavy, but i´m heavy too and not aiming to break any records anyway.

      @supwell  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      great idea for casual specific video - will add to list. i did this video a few weeks ago with best running shoes for walking th-cam.com/video/LzkAWmmi2Ss/w-d-xo.html two more that i'd add for casual wear are the on cloudeclipse and asics gel-nimbus mirai. both look pretty sweet and are well cushioned. my top pick is ghost max - super comfortable and it comes in some clean white, black and gray monochromatic colorways

    Are any of these good for wet weather running in the summer? That answer can come from a different category that’s not necessarily in this video. Just something that doesn’t overheat. Does the deviate nitro two overheat in the warm weather? However, that shoe is a bit narrow for me.

    • @supwell
      @supwell  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Yes deviate nitro 2 and rebel v4 in this video!

    Nike Vaporfly 2 still my favourite for any racing distance. Sad I can't find any more to buy now as the 3 didn't work for me in terms of fit.

    • @supwell
      @supwell  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I also really liked the Vaporfly 2. The Metaspeed sky shoes and Hoka rocket x2 are the closest I've found to a true replacement

    • @QuasiAmerican
      @QuasiAmerican 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Unfortunately the Rocket X2 keeps being out of stock on Hoka here in the UK so I haven't been able to try it. I have the Metaspeed sky paris and edge paris but still not sure if I like them or not. The fit is too wide for me as I have narrow women's feet and it's a unisex fit and I also feel like the carbon plates are much stiffer than in shoes like the vaporfly and I think I don't put enough power into them to utilize it so I don't feel like I can go as "fast" as in the vaporfly. Wondering how much of it is a weight thing vs running gait as I'm fairly lightweight (122lbs) and pretty short (5ft 4).

    This is my racce shoe. well speed 2. After hearing the poor speed 3 reviews when it first came out i stuck with the two.
    Thanks for your great reviews im eyeing the puma deviate nitro 2. Tell me how is the toe box in it?

    • @supwell
      @supwell  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Thank you! And toebox in deviate nitro 2 is very narrow! That's one of the only downsides to it. You may be able to get by if you go up half a size - also Boston 12 is an alternative to it that has a wider toebox. Boston is a little firmer out of the box but also a great shoe for faster running

    • @st4331
      @st4331 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I have the ES2 and ES3. There's not a lot of difference, other than the ES3 is more versatile and stable imo. In a couple of months, I've done more miles in my ES3 than in over a year in my ES2s. I have the DN2s, but in wide fitting; they were unusable for me in standard fitting, with a very tight toebox, much tighter than the ES2. The Pumas are quite long, so going for wide fitting is probably better than going up half a size if you can find them.

    Fuel cell Rebel 1, speed 1 (endorphin), Salomon sonic 3(balance), kinvara 12, Boston 11, supermax, nb propel v4 (great walking shoe), are my trainers for the last four years. Plus the Rincon 3, and the ?..have tried Altra superior and ? ..Hyperion tempo are the best 5k imo.
