Yeah completely understandable. Most certainly the best story-driven RPG I've ever seen, and easily one of, if not *the*, best story in a game overall.
It's probably a cross between 'fuck' and 'crap'. It seems to fit better with 'crap' when talking about food tasting like crab. So it's probably a softer swear than 'fuck' is in our world.
Siffrin: “Y’all must hate me.” Odile: “Your biology was messed up and I would’ve done the same thing, I don’t have an issue.” Isabeau: “Also it was kinda cool and it was a little hot how serious and confident you got.” Bonnie: “I’m a kid so I still don’t fully get it.” Mirabelle: “Am I the only one who might actually be mad at Siffrin???????” Siffrin: “No.” Mirabelle: “YOU’RE NOT ALLOWED TO SUPPORT ME ON THIS!!!”
i think everyones reaction is on point but Odiles is definitely like 100 percent in line with her character. during a family loop when everyone is having the i see you all as family talk Odile mentions she would do anything to keep you all safe. even horrible ugly things. Odile being the oldest probably has seen worse in her travels she knows what things she means.
"OH!" "What?" "THE HEAD HOUSEMAIDEN!" >cut to head housemaiden, pulling herself out of a her-shaped hole in the wall "Don't worry about me everyone, I'm fine!"
that's TOTALLY what's happend and her majesty can actually punch holes in solid stone walls, but was more concentrated on supporting her time craft resisting spell and also killing people is very rude.
Fun Fact since Jello didn't get this: The "Loop is Siffrin" event is known as TwoHats, because if you do it and then go talk to the Head Housemaiden, at the end of the credits, where the game thanks you for playing, there will be two hats instead of one, signifying both Loop and Siffrin
"You repeat your wish three times . . ." Huh! That actually explains the way that Siffrin prays for his little buffs to the change god. They always repeat the thing they're asking for three times before testing it out.
@@JackalformerlyKnownasDjjjavwhen questioned on the proper rituals, they said you could also do 7 or 13, and 3 7 and 13 are all special numbers here on earth. First two lucky, the second one unlucky.
if you notice in the first few chapters when they make the wishes they give minor buffs to the party, but in the later ones once you have learned about wishcraft and know about the rituals they give much more significant buffs and the the text changes!!!!
It's extremely smart that the dialogue at the very beginning with the favor tree has you make your specific character wish but it then says "you want to stay with them" in glowing text which i think means its always related to wish text. The game was telling us from the very beginning
I wish I'd had Siffrin's friends when I felt like that in my lowest point. I didn't and I can 100% understand his desire to rather be gone forever than to not have a home.
So heres a fun realization i had in the body craft room Odile talks about how body kraft is illegal in Kau Bue because of the potential weaponization of the body. She also mentioned its possible to get it done if you know where to look. AND in her personal quest, she talks about how her features aren't quite fully Kau Bue some small differences. i wonder if at some point she looked into the possibility of bodycraft on herself just to make her stand out less in her culture.
The fucking run to the Keyknife as Lenti is just singing the German Pokerap while slowly losing it while Jello and Will are yelling at her as the King to sing harder is so fucking hilarious. Like literal peak comedy, I think it’s all downhill from here.
Spoilers to the true epilogue You know the funniest part about the Loop battle is when they give a sarcastic toast, if you had regenerade at this point, you would have the dialogue where you'd give loop a toast too.
Don't wanna be that guy, but it's mostly because of the fact that Siffrin knew the proper ritual, which made it more effective. Wishing normally makes for a super weak wish, and only worked when a bunch of people had the same wishes.
Or since that no one has utilized wishcraft correctly in a long time then everything was just focused on him. The king knew wishcraft but his wish is much easier to grant than Siffrin, Freezing a country is easy compared to keeping something together forever.
@@marshalllee6376Spolier for another game that reminded me of that idea: _Hope this is enough space to separate it_ Returnal. With one of the endings having you get off the planet and spend your days in peace until you pass away. Only to then return you back to the beginning of your loop.
LEGITIMATELY. In retrospect, looking at all of the comments saying "BUT WHY won't you play knuckle sandwich? it's not even THAT BAD" has me like... Well, I'm incredibly grateful Jello decided to play this game instead.
Well if I recall correctly, the "Wizard/Witch" hat was just a popular traveling hat at some point in the medieval ages. Wide brim to block out sun and rain, and a long hollow top to keep cool.
@@kamikazesopp most likely, but the matching cloak screams Wizard. I know it's a world without color, but they do have shades. I assume there's such a thing as complimentary and contrasting shades and patterns.
He's an (unintentional) master of Wishcraft (Witchcraft) and though he firmly thinks wizards aren't real, neither is his home country. Siff might actually be the last wizard in existence. (Other than King, who... isn't in existence anymore.)
SPOILERS Loop's wish to get out of here and for someone to help them is the reason why they got out of their loop and put into another Siffirin's to help another version of themselves. Fulfilling both! That's so fucking clever omg
Genius dev: Made it so Frin doesn't touch people, which means that any time they touch anyone there's narration, which also means you know they're not touching anyone whenever they loop. Brilliant.
Rewatched the earlier parts and noticed that the moment Euphrasie realizes something wrong shes covering her nose/mouth. She literally smells the Time Craft, and thats why she immediately knows its too late for her to intervene each loop.
@@Niclap01 wishcraft smells like sugar while timecraft smells like burnt sugar (to be more specific, its probaly timecraft gained thanks to wishcraft). Siffrin thinking dialogue says they smell burnt sugar before every loop resets.
4:41 - 6:30 I just realized the irony that Siffrin is dressed like a wizard, and has said in the past that wizards aren't real, but also seems to have an instinctive memory of how to do wishcraft. Which is basically magic spells. Complete with focusing on an intention and ritual and astrology and stuff. and if you say it fast it sounds like "witchcraft". And the way Wishcraft is described as working sounds exactly like how I've heard actual irl witches describe how they think their spells work. and wizards aren't real. Like Siffrin's country. Where apparently the astrology wizards lived. Siffrin's a wizard guys. complete with the sads and the mads that is typical to the profession.
madness and sadness related to wizardry/witchcraft, and the game’s name ends with time is in stars and time connected to adventure time in any way possible
2:35:35; this whole scene fascinates me, because if you think about it for a moment, this is likely Siffrin on the verge of becoming a Sadness. He's been defeated by the king, he's stuck in his own head, and all this depression, disassociation, and insanity that he's built up to this point over easily a hundred or more loops is SCREAMING at him to the point where he GIVES IN. If the gang had been much later, I can imagine there wouldn't have been a Siffrin to RESCUE from the king. Just Mal Du Pays, wearing his form AND weilding his at this point dangerously high strength.
Something i noticed is Mal du Pays is french, and every other sadness has a french name. Siffrin was fighting the sadness within him, and if he gave in it'd probably take his place, this is very likely to be the case
@@lukestark6248 definitely something to do with wish craft as it's stated only the crest sadnesses smell sweet, and wish craft itself also smells like sugar (the crest sadnesses have the king's tears in them and the king used wish craft to acquire control over time craft it seems)
@@CriscuittHm, my theory was the crest sadnesses *were* created by Wish Craft, yes, but specifically the wish for Vaugarde to be saved, since the *Star* Crests are necessary for the party to get past the tears in order to make their way to the King.
I only found Jellos Streams 2 days ago and basically watched them all in 3 sittings. As pointed out in the stream, Mal du Pays is french for Homesickness. I have yet to go through to see all the Sadness' Names, I remember Depression and Anxiety, but I sort of wonder if those are to represent the cause, the root cause for them Giving up, giving into Hopelessnes, into Sadness, and Letting go. For Siffrin it was Homesickness, and the fact he has nowhere to return to. With his Country being fully wiped from everyones Memory, he turned to the Party as a Home to return to, and the idea that that Home would also disappear in a different way, was what pushed them into the Timeloops, and eventually to give up, when he truly thought everyone would leave them behind no matter what, once again leaving Siffrin with no Home at all. I am probably not right with it, but this weird thought popped into my head, and felt right on some Level.
Oh yeah, I had to check out after Odile cause that one hurt a lot, and I knew I couldn’t stomach Bonnie and Isa being hurt. Also my phone died, but it died at a good time
@@DoctorDisasterDraculaIn the same boat... Stepping away right now because I can't handle it after Odile's scene. I'll come back later, but god damn...
I had to mute the one with Mirabelle because knowing what the original side quest was about, I probably wouldn’t be able to handle the bad version of it.
Lenti destroys as Siffrin, my favorite of her reads so far. Jello kills as Loop and draws so much life into Mirabelle. Really haunting performance. Will is delightful as always and carries Isabeau's humor and depth effortlessly. Savvy makes for an excellent Odile, playing distant affection so well. You all are the voices of these characters for me now. Thank you.
This story seems like it was made to represent depression, but it maps onto the autistic experience to. Constantly running into advice that doesn’t work for you, knowing that if you just did something you’d be able to feel better; there’s always the carrot on a stick that if you just weren’t a lazy, forgetful, loser you’d finally be like everyone else. But the words can never leave your lips; how could they?
It really does, almost to an uncanny extent. It gets the social anxiety, the dissociation, the feeling that you just can't understand others, and responding to people like you're reading from a script because that follows the rules that society has taught you.
The island north of Vaugarde and Siffrin as a character are a DEVASTATINGLY accurate representation of my own experience with dissociative amnesia. The pervasive feeling of something that should be there but isn’t, the terror that you’re not a real, whole person if you can’t remember key things, and the general experience of being mostly unbothered until you focus on it to the point it becomes physically debilitating. I might as well have been looking in a mirror, it was so painfully accurate
There's a really good blog post on Tumblr about how siffrins whole experience and personality In the game including the very beginning mirrors cptsd. I think though that a lot of autistic people have trauma or cptsd. As someone with cptsd I relate souch to siffrins experience with others. I am also autistic.
Trying to kill Mal du pays (homesickness, thanks French III), trying to beat your homesickness into submission is so BROKEN. It's so upsetting, because it's so real. The fate worse than death that is being forgotten. And worse than that, trying to avoid being known to not be REJECTED. In Stars and Time is incredible. It nails isolation and its effects on the self. Thank you guys as always for voicing. You all rock.
That part definitely hits different if you're a refugee or exile from your home country, or have any kind of similar broken relationship to the country you're natively from and no longer have contact to. I was fucking sobbing during that whole fight; more than any of the other (masterfully done!) themes THAT one hit me hardest
You saying, "Fate worse than death is being forgotten," reminded me of the last bit of that French poem. "More than alone / Exiled. More than exiled / Dead. More than dead / Forgotten.”
Extra bonus - Nostalgie, the name for the Star Crest Sadnesses, (nostalgia in English) was originally created as a mental illness for extreme homesickness before we softened the term.
Watch the whole video. Before reading this comment. Odile counterspelling Frin’s loop got me so pumped that I literally had to rip by shirt off bc I was overheating
...around the one hour mark... that whole segment legitimately hurts me emotionally... seeing Siffrin ruin his relationships... I... this is so hard to watch, I've only gotten through Mirabelle and Odile, I'm not even done, I...
Yeah fun fact the reason Jello said DAN MCNEELY near the end is because the creator of armor games is Daniel Mcneely which is why Dan’s named that way in the trapped trilogy. Armor games helped with the game in some way which is why Daniel Mcneely is in the credits. I didn’t know that and hope I spared someone from a google search.
Fun fact! There’s actually a precursor to this game called “START AGAIN: a prologue”, with a similar concept of Siffrin being stuck in time loop on the last floor of the Castle before the King. Though this Siffrin has been through so many loops that he’s almost to the point of not caring anymore. A Siffrin who doesn’t want to “follow the script” anymore. A Siffrin who, no matter how many times they reach him, is never able to defeat the King. Doesn’t that sound a little bit familiar, stardust? 4:24:17
Loop saying they forgot everyone’s names for a while also ties back to START AGAIN in that game everyone is referred to by their titles instead of names on the status screens (Loop also refers to them like this for most of ISAT) and while fighting The King in the true ending Siffrin realises they forgot everyone and breaks down over it interestingly Loop refers to Isabeau as “Your Fighter” even though his status screen in ISAT labels him as “The Defender.” He is known as “The Fighter” in the prologue however
@@Void_Echoes interestingly, the king *also* refers to Isa as "your fighter", so it may be happenstance (or, as the king is aware of something being fishy, it might be intentional)
no I think you're right. Isa is the Defender because its from his backstory. the King wouldn't know about that so just calls him a fighter. Start Again Siffrin doesn't remember, so just calls him The Fighter. I don't think it's happenstance, that seems deliberate
I know the writing in this game is incredible purely because I was going to joke about how so much could have been avoided if Sif just talked to everyone, but OF COURSE the Dev beat me to the punch. Genuinely, this is one of my favorite stories I've ever experienced in my entire life. It was a blast having all of the top-tier voice acting to uplift it even further. Goes without saying that the stream was responsible for me buying a copy. And I'm gonna be telling as many people as I can about it too. Thank you to Jello and friends, and to the dev and their friends for this unforgettable experience!
SIDE QUEST SPOILER I WANTED TO MENTION HERE CAUSE I DID ADMITTEDLY HOPE IT WOULD GET ACTED OUT You can, during Act 4, get tired of Isa not confessing and kiss him out of the blue. He will genuinely be suprised, but because he pushes you away to focus on you and the moment, the now touch-starved and self-hating Sif immedietly assumes Isa is disgusted, and Sif loops on the spot from sheer despair. You even get a Memory of Touch that nerfs you HARD for it. I know its a fucked up scene, but God, imaginging Will and Lenti carry that scene would have been so fucking good!
3:12:25 I love the detail where the wish is still trying to be completed so Siffrin has that star in his eye, and when he smiles the wish is completed/fulfilled, so the star turns into a regular pupil. He finally… Got… His wish.
little spoilers for the very end of the game. but siffrin's wish to all stay together isnt like a deep hidden thing the player never sees. its the last line in the scene where he makes his wish after whatever the player picks. its right there and you forget about it just like Sif. FUCK I HAVE NEVER RELATED THIS HARD TO A CHARACTER IN MY GOD DAMNED LIFE.
I will proudly say that I did not forget about that line, I actually was very aware of it over time, but kinda shook it off in like act 3 thinking “nah surely it’s not connected”
@@ItsMy149thTimeHereHelp yeee it was! if you play the game again you'll feel really silly when u see it lol and depending on what you wish for from the original 3 or 4 options you can chose from as your "wish", itll change what sif says their wish was when asked about it later. Most people to my understanding selected "wear the clothes Isa makes" but if you chose one of the other options thats the one Sif brings up when they talk about wishes instead, before it boils down to the subconscious wish he actually makes
So I kind of assumed from the beginning that this wish was what got them stuck in the time loop. I read that last part of what Siffrin wished for and was like UH OH.
"Here's a philosophical conundrum for you Siffrin, why do they call it oven when you of in the cold food of out hot eat the food?" "no... NO!! NO THIS ISN'T REAL!!!"
You know- If I had a nickel for every black and white manifestation of some form of guilt a depressed indie game MC had that was named "SOMETHING," I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but weird that it happened twice. In all seriousness though, I LOVED this playthrough. Everyone really fits the characters they took on perfectly! It was really fun! Dev made a masterpiece of a game! It deserves some kind of reward!
You know, if I had a nickel for every game where the MC could stab and "kill" himself as a means to progress, I'd have the same two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but I feel like it's very intentional. (But for real, the fact that Siffrin even considered using the dagger for "convenience" was so uncomfortable; I ended up not doing it. Had enough of that in Omori)
The number of times I had to pause the vod to recompose myself while Lenti was singing the German Pokerap - I lost count. I c a n ’ t - r e m e m b e r
As soon as i noticed Loop's deal (that being someone who was aware of everything that was going on), I guessed immediately that he was Siffrin in the first or second stream (i think i even said so in chat), except I guessed that he looped so many times that his timeline fell apart and he became a cosmic entity and was doing this just to help Sif, so I was KINDA right. Of course, i didn't know about wish craft.
Savvy mentioned near the end that he has a shit ton of characters yet doesn't know what kind of plot to put them in, and oh my god I feel that so hard. I have at least 40 named characters at this point, and most of them have their own personal arcs and stories planned out, but I still don't know an overarching plot to put them in, a goal to reach, an endpoint for the journey as a whole. They just go from one arc to the next and right now they're only tangentially related.
me when ISAT takes place in one town, with one castle, and the impossibly tall, heavy cheeseburger of character depth takes place within this one tiny little setting. who needs a giant world map when you can just have the world be set dressing for your character stuff?! (this is NOT an insult i think it's BRILLIANT of the game to do this)
I don't know much about writing or creating characters, but maybe you could try starting with a setting and then putting characters into it as you need them? I've DM'ed for my friends (and occasionally for strangers) for a few years, and whenever I make a new adventure, I make a rough outline of where it will happen and some potential endpoints for the story. I create the bones of a functional town/city, add in some people that would be needed to run it, and then a handful of nobodies. The nobodies let me figure out who the people who live in the city/town are. 3 of them are thieves? That means there's a criminal issue. One person is rich, but gaunt? The elite have a weird relationship with food. None have bigoted or revolutionary ideas? The citizens trust and rely on each other, regardless of social class (and probably distrust outsiders). Now I rip out some of the bones that made the town/city functional, and try to fill them in with other stuff: no guards? Militia or mercs. No main market? Decentralized trade centers or some weird collective shenanigans. No sewer? Muck-munching monsters regularly patrol the city. Now come the somebodies who matter, but you sound like you've got that part down better than I do. This is just an example of how I create a setting. I'm not very creative, so making the process into a long series of organic decisions and responses allows me to get out of my box. If I start with too many solid and defined things I often get stuck before even getting started.
With all the German song stuff that was in this stream tonight and the Loop twist at the end, there's a pretty well known German song from 2007 with an extremely fitting name: "Ein Stern, der deinen Namen trägt" (meaning "A star with your name on it/A star that's got your name).
When the group goes adventuring again and see’s a single enemy: Mirabelle, Bonnie, Odile, and Isabeau, who are all level 45: Oh nooo!!! Whatever will we doooooooooo!!!!!! Siffrin, level 99: oh cool, free exp.
The track when they fight siffrin "I won't let you go home!" Is so emotionally powerful. It tugs at my heartstrings it hurts in a good way. It's possibly my fave track in the game tied with the friend hangout theme.

the timing for the music stopping/restarting along with the dialogue at around 3:01:31 is amazing. even if it was a complete accident it honestly made that part of the scene for me, kicked absolute ass

The voice acting on these final two streams drove me to tears several times, the game was already emotional enough for me but the VA work here elevated it even further. Also, I'm only 19 but this game was indeed a life changing experience for me I would say! It's not only helped me a lot with my own feelings but also changing my appearance and who I am, both through changing and not changing at all. 10/10, I will sing it's praises until the end of time. So you’re telling me I’ve been watching the vods of these wonderful people playing this wonderful game for this whole damn week And this last episode came out YESTERDAY?!?! Also just wanna say, this story has motivated me in the exact same way to write and I am also struggling with the exact same thing of “I have fun characters with cool concepts, how the fuck do i tie them together”. Hearing someone else have litteraly the exact same problem is enlightening.
Watching this video helped me to cry and have a genuine panic attack which hurt but in a way that realesed a lotta stuff genuinely the story of this game and your performances were emotionally freeing.
So MAL DU PAYS does roughly mean like a form of homestickness. however a slightly more literal translations would be " Evil Of Home". which i dont think is meant to a reference to the country sif is from i think its more like from inside yourself. so this is a manifestation of SIffrins worst thoughts and his darker inner monologue.
This was a fantastic stream and even more fantastic game! Fun Fact: I was spoiled on the Loop fight by TH-cam, who recommended a video with 18 views that had the Loop battle AS THE THUMBNAIL. Thanks TH-cam!
Y’all….. I was crying, had to take the dog out so I stopped and came back in and went right back to crying. This was a trip and I loved every second. CONGRATS TO JELLO AND CREW FOR MAKING ME CRY FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 2 YEARS! ROUND IF APPLAUSE EVERYONE!
Everytime we get cucked on Isa's confession, I get like that one bit with Aika. "I need to bite something! RHRHRHRHRHRH!" I think the key difference in this and Undertale, is this plays it straight. Undertale is packed with Toby's wacky sense of humor, and it consumes every waking moment, especially Papyrus' scenes. In Stars and Time, while being silly, never breaks the immersion with its silliness. In that way, Undertale's writing and In Stars' writing can't be easily compared. Gameplay wise? This game blasts Undertale's cock and balls square off.
Hot take: Undertale is exactly the same type of thing as Yummei Nikki and Star Wars and Jimmy Hendrix. It revolutionized gaming when it came out and now nobody needs to play it ever because so many other things have done it better, up to and including it's own successor/sequel.
@@AeonKnigh432 Nah imo Undertale fits more in the Beatles category, it revolutionized it's industry and changed the face of it's genre forever, but there is still a ton to love and most of it holds up very well even ignoring it's fame Like you could play Undertale nowadays and come out with a very good experience
I disagree with the sillyness not breaking immersion in In Stars and Time, even more so if you are even slightly aware of Tumblr humor, it becomes rather painfully obvious how some jokes are just picked up from tumblr posts, and it doesn't fit at all with the rest of the world that is built up, it's also weird when it comes out after very tense and sad moments, which make the game feel more gamey Like Craft and the whole Vauguarde culture is so unique it fully inserts you in it's world, like you truly feel like it's a completely different world that has irl inspirations while building it's own thing, the Forgotten Island is so mysterious but the more you learn about it the more it feels truly unique and leaves you wanting to know more, but then there are things like you inspect a kitchen and the characters make a ''Crab evolution joke'' lift up from a tumblr post and it just takes you out of the game completely (and in universe crab is supposed to be like an insult for some reason so it just constantly comes back again and again) a lot of the jokes have a much stronger Tumblr influence than in Undertale, that although a bit more random, fit the characters and story better Like Siffrin hitting himself on the counter and accidentally going ''NYAH'', then literally every single characters make a joke about how funny it is that he made a sound that is known as a cutesy cat sound (even Odile and Siffrin immediately pick up on this cultural thing, when Odile is from Ka Bue and Siffrin is from $#"!#$!#!) or Ka Bue being just japan, like not even much extra lore built it's just japan, you even get to eat an actual Onigiri and the religion is literally just Japanese mythos
I’m not saying the other parts were a walk in the park, but man, as someone who admits they have abandonment issues around friendships. Holy crab this episode was tough. Hope no one saw me crying at work. Thanks for playing such an amazing game, Lenti bloody killed me
2:36:14 Fun fact, when I first watched this, I mistook the upbeat “everyone’s here, it’s okay!” music for “that’s the end of the game, here are the end credits!” music and got /so scared/ for the hottest of seconds-
I just watched through all of the vods as episode 6 was coming out, and I started watching episode 6 during a work day and I was literally shaking and feeling physically ill after the Mirabelle talk earlier. The catharsis of all of Sif's friends reappearing and holding an intervention was such a relief. I just rewatched this episode today but had to skip over the failed friendship talks because they caused that much discomfort and anxiety. I'll buy the game in a couple months when I've saved up personal funds and am able to rewatch those scenes. Wonderful voice work from everyone, thank you so much for taking a 10/10 game and elevating it to 11 with the voices, truly transcendent.
Gotta say, Vixen briefly coming in at 4:18:20 when the portrait change happens feels so so /so/ perfect. They absolutely killed it the whole time (as did everyone!), but that specific moment made me cheer irl. Phenomenal game, phenomenal stream cast, thank y'all for putting your heart and soul into all of these voices!
WWOOOOUUUGH WHAT A GAME HOO BOY auuuuuugghhhhhhhh Loop. oh Loop. oh my dear loop. you deserve a happy ending more than anyone. dear God i hope they get to be loved after all of this, an eternity alone is just too cruel
Man I guess I'm just stupid when I played on my own I thought sif killed everyone cause he had all the orbs so this part of the game was a lot of me remixing "sifrin no please"
When I watched it first time I had that thought but then immediately dismissed it since, logically, Sif doing that (if we look at when the King grabbed Bonnie) would immediately loop back since his wish couldn’t be fulfilled. So I assumed he snuck in thief-style and stole ‘em
@@MiDuWay It IS pointed out by him that the country’s wish isn’t being fulfilled before that. It’s literally in the dialogue between him and Loop before that very section. So logically, if the wish can’t be fulfilled because one of them died and they need all of them, he couldn’t have killed any of them.
This game does mental breakdowns really well. most of the time when games do it its written by people who've seen people tweaking out, not people who tweak out
Haven't been the same after this game. It really hit hard. Thank you Jello for playing this and showing others just how amazing it is. Thank you Marissa for the unbelievable performance as Sifrin, it was incredibly moving. Thank you Savvy for your role as Odile, and providing her Jordans. Thank you Will for Isabeau, the beautiful smart strong man that he is.
Throughout the whole thing I was so worried it was gonna be like "you breath the air around you and....you feel a tug on your stomach." then just cut to credits while playing the creepy music
Watching this entire game playthrough, after seeing the little video? Fuck... I wound up buying this game too, but I just... This entire game broke me in MULTIPLE PLACES. The voices you all did made this entire thing hurt thirty time worse because it invokes such a potent emotional connection. This game is so fucking good, and I loved it watching it all the way through. I wept so many times in this playthrough. I get... So fucking stuck in my own head, sometimes. Very much similar to how Siffrin gets. Not in such a massive angle that I get trapped in a fucking time loop, but it really just... It feels so achingly familiar. It feels hellishly familiar and listening to this echoed so perfectly in this game? It... Gods... It hurts. The self hatred and the reveal with Loop at the end only made it sink in further, honestly. So thank you, Game Dev, for making this story, and thank you, you wonderful cast of voice actors. For making this beautiful story all the more impactful in the moment.

Thank fuck you randomly picked this over Knuckle Sandwich or whatever.
Yeah completely understandable. Most certainly the best story-driven RPG I've ever seen, and easily one of, if not *the*, best story in a game overall.
I know "best" and "Favorite" aren't mutually exclusive, but how does it compare to the tellius games on your list of favorite games
Same.
No other piece of media has ever made me cry as much as this game
Siffrin has the absolute worst coping mechanisms Ive ever seen in a protagonist and I have to say... Relatable
If “crab” is ISAT’s version of “fuck” then Bonnie is a tremendously foul mouthed kid and everyone is chill with it lol
That's essentially canon! The dev said on Tumblr that everyone else has just given up on trying to stop them at this point, lol
He just wouldn't stop it
It's probably a cross between 'fuck' and 'crap'. It seems to fit better with 'crap' when talking about food tasting like crab. So it's probably a softer swear than 'fuck' is in our world.

Just realized Loop knew Sif was allergic to pineapples because they probably died from that in their loops.

How Many times you think, like maybe he’d think it was just a bad slice
"You repeat your wish three times . . ." Huh! That actually explains the way that Siffrin prays for his little buffs to the change god. They always repeat the thing they're asking for three times before testing it out.

You know the funniest part about the Loop battle is when they give a sarcastic toast, if you had regenerade at this point, you would have the dialogue where you'd give loop a toast too.
The fact that Siffrin wished… SO HARD… with SO MUCH WILLPOWER… that he basically *BROKE TIME ITSELF AS WELL AS THE **_FABRIC OF REALITY._*
Don't wanna be that guy, but it's mostly because of the fact that Siffrin knew the proper ritual, which made it more effective. Wishing normally makes for a super weak wish, and only worked when a bunch of people had the same wishes.
The rituals and the power of the entire country of Vaugarde helped
@@Jachra The magical Tree in particular was very helpful

I just realized the irony that Siffrin is dressed like a wizard, and has said in the past that wizards aren't real, but also seems to have an instinctive memory of how to do wishcraft.
Huh, never thought about that, but it does make sense😮
madness and sadness related to wizardry/witchcraft, and the game’s name ends with time
is in stars and time connected to adventure time in any way possible
Also a thing I noticed is that Bonnie says that sadnesses smell like sugar and only during the final loop she says that siffrin smells like sugar

Legitimately had to come back to this a week later. Could not watch it live.
So, umm, I'm aroace and the good version of Mirabelle's hangout was super-cathartic and the bad version was *torture*
That is hitting the nail on the head

This time loop... its heavier than a normal time loop...
4:18:25 i love that because what happened wasnt immediately obvious, loop ends up with an echo of their real voice
yeah that *really* added so much
4:24:17
OHHHH MY GOD That's so fucking cool!!
Loop saying they forgot everyone’s names for a while also ties back to START AGAIN
in that game everyone is referred to by their titles instead of names on the status screens (Loop also refers to them like this for most of ISAT) and while fighting The King in the true ending Siffrin realises they forgot everyone and breaks down over it
interestingly Loop refers to Isabeau as “Your Fighter” even though his status screen in ISAT labels him as “The Defender.” He is known as “The Fighter” in the prologue however
@@Void_Echoes interestingly, the king *also* refers to Isa as "your fighter", so it may be happenstance (or, as the king is aware of something being fishy, it might be intentional)
@@stocks1066oh I never noticed that actually
I feel like in King’s case it’s probably happenstance, but who knows
no I think you're right.
SIDE QUEST SPOILER I WANTED TO MENTION HERE CAUSE I DID ADMITTEDLY HOPE IT WOULD GET ACTED OUT
You can, during Act 4, get tired of Isa not confessing and kiss him out of the blue.
During Act 6 you can also apologize to him about it and he just stares at you in embarrassment
i mean, in isas defense, if the person youre into kisses you sloppy style out of nowhere , youd probably shove them away in surprise too
I laughed for too long at this, the pain
3:12:25 I love the detail where the wish is still trying to be completed so Siffrin has that star in his eye, and when he smiles the wish is completed/fulfilled, so the star turns into a regular pupil. He finally…

little spoilers for the very end of the game. but siffrin's wish to all stay together isnt like a deep hidden thing the player never sees. its the last line in the scene where he makes his wish after whatever the player picks. its right there and you forget about it just like Sif.
Holy crab that was there the whole time???

AMAZING JOB EVERYONE! JELLO WAS SOFT, LENTI WAS HAUNTING AND ADORABLE, SAVVY WAS POWERFUL, WILL WAS GIGANTIC. DEV YOU MADE A MASTER PIECE!
Boy, that was an incredible game. I wish I could experience it all for the first ti- *zwoooop*
(You feel a tug on your stomach)
Savvy mentioned near the end that he has a shit ton of characters yet doesn't know what kind of plot to put them in, and oh my god I feel that so hard. I have at least 40 named characters at this point, and most of them have their own personal arcs and stories planned out, but I still don't know an overarching plot to put them in, a goal to reach, an endpoint for the journey as a whole. They just go from one arc to the next and right now they're only tangentially related.
I’M THE SAME I’m bad at settings but better with characters
Man, you have so much more than I do. I only have 3 unnamed characters that occasionally participate in random, incoherent scenarios.
me when ISAT takes place in one town, with one castle, and the impossibly tall, heavy cheeseburger of character depth takes place within this one tiny little setting. who needs a giant world map when you can just have the world be set dressing for your character stuff?!
SAAAAME. Mostly I just shove them in as characters in my D&D campaign. Little did the players know theyre just my pawns to put in a bunch of fun NPCs
With all the German song stuff that was in this stream tonight and the Loop twist at the end, there's a pretty well known German song from 2007 with an extremely fitting name: "Ein Stern, der deinen Namen trägt" (meaning "A star with your name on it/A star that's got your name).
filing this away for playlist reasons
Not really at all related but “I wish, that I could turn back time!”
Everyone in ISAT forgot Germany existed
Lenti's acting is so good, I keep needing to take breaks because its so emotionally charged.
When the group goes adventuring again and see’s a single enemy:
Mirabelle, Bonnie, Odile, and Isabeau, who are all level 45: Oh nooo!!! Whatever will we doooooooooo!!!!!!
Siffrin, level 99: oh cool, free exp.
The fact that this was my mentality when my Siffrin was level 85-92. "Oh cool, something i can one-shot"
I can't I'm crying, and I don't even feel emotions half the time.
The track when they fight siffrin "I won't let you go home!" Is so emotionally powerful. It tugs at my heartstrings it hurts in a good way. It's possibly my fave track in the game tied with the friend hangout theme.
I mean, technically, you are now all stuck in a time loop on TH-cam, forever, if I rewatch the series. Congrats! There is no escape!
Thank you so much for the phenomenal voice acting. It truly enhances the finale after playing the game myself. :D

@@undergnomes6248That would've been fun, but I'm pretty satisfied with their playthrough as it is!!
Thanks for the timestamps!!
Hell yeah, man
@@undergnomes6248 bad touch, and the I got it where Siffrin brutalizes the sadness. (Unless I missed them getting the memory of sadness.)
There is a little mystery: "Why and how the northern country disappear?. I would definitely enjoy if there was a sequel related to it.
My best guess is someone wished for it so badly to be erased from existence and now nobody remembers.
Dev confirmed in a Q&A it was a wish
But why would anyone wish for that tho? Whoever did must’ve reeeeaaally hated that island….
Fun fact. At the end of the game during act 6 epilogue. If you look out the window in housemaiden room, Siffrin now says they can see and island in the distance…
@@Tree_The_Artist i assume that it wasnt specifically a wish, but a wish breaking
@@marshalllee6376 omg really??? I should check that out!
the timing for the music stopping/restarting along with the dialogue at around 3:01:31 is amazing. even if it was a complete accident it honestly made that part of the scene for me, kicked absolute ass
I like to imagine there’s art of siffren doing that up close camera shot while having a mental breakdown, anyways the voice acting was so good lenti being the mvp obviously so fuck you AI you can never do what real people can do
I love the moment in the final corridor, where theres a click and everything goes dark. In a moment, I realised the trap corridor never happened, and honestly believed it would happen there and then.
That indeed was an epic pie smell filled with Jordan’s and dogs of all time. Thank you everyone and have a good night.
You can tell that Pie Smell, Jordans, and Loop's Dogs are going to become running channel memes
Thank you guys for providing your amazing VA work for all these streams and introducing the game to me!!!!!!
Siffrin:
Loop, you may Start Again Start Again Start Again, but I’m In Stars and Time!!
Loop:
!!!
Masterful voice work the entire playthrough!!! Thank you guys for spreading word of this game while also not showing all the secrets, to help encourage other people to buy and play it! This is going to be one of my comfort streams to come back to when i need to listen to something like with the Tellius games. Truly a beautiful ride!

So you’re telling me
I’ve been watching the vods of these wonderful people playing this wonderful game for this whole damn week
And this last episode came out YESTERDAY?!?!
30:14 i believe the technical term is "dissociating" which siffrin seems to be quite good at
So MAL DU PAYS does roughly mean like a form of homestickness. however a slightly more literal translations would be " Evil Of Home". which i dont think is meant to a reference to the country sif is from i think its more like from inside yourself. so this is a manifestation of SIffrins worst thoughts and his darker inner monologue.
This was a fantastic stream and even more fantastic game! Fun Fact: I was spoiled on the Loop fight by TH-cam, who recommended a video with 18 views that had the Loop battle AS THE THUMBNAIL. Thanks TH-cam!
Saw that, but i never clicked on the video so i never knew the reason for the fight
TH-cam loves recommending videos with less than 20 views that have spoilers in the title. I got spoiled on TOTK with that.
i had the exact same thing happen to me lol!
damn youtube algorithms always be spoiling shit
2:15:48 I have never felt so honored. Also I stand by what I said.
3:41:55 i love that if you want to be homophobic about this part you have to be trans affirming, or transphobic and gay affirming.
LMAO THATS SO FUNNY
I guess is straight up gay
I mean Lenti said they weren’t the official voice for sif but the dev was there the whole time and endorsing it I’d argue they are
Everytime we get cucked on Isa's confession, I get like that one bit with Aika. "I need to bite something! RHRHRHRHRHRH!"
I think the key difference in this and Undertale, is this plays it straight. This game blasts Undertale's cock and balls square off.
the implication of the word "cucked" here is so funny
Hot take: Undertale is exactly the same type of thing as Yummei Nikki and Star Wars and Jimmy Hendrix. It revolutionized gaming when it came out and now nobody needs to play it ever because so many other things have done it better, up to and including it's own successor/sequel.
@@AeonKnigh432 Nah imo Undertale fits more in the Beatles category, it revolutionized it's industry and changed the face of it's genre forever, but there is still a ton to love and most of it holds up very well even ignoring it's fame
Like you could play Undertale nowadays and come out with a very good experience
I disagree with the sillyness not breaking immersion in In Stars and Time, even more so if you are even slightly aware of Tumblr humor, it becomes rather painfully obvious how some jokes are just picked up from tumblr posts, and it doesn't fit at all with the rest of the world that is built up, it's also weird when it comes out after very tense and sad moments, which make the game feel more gamey
Like Craft and the whole Vauguarde culture is so unique it fully inserts you in it's world, like you truly feel like it's a completely different world that has irl inspirations while building it's own thing, the Forgotten Island is so mysterious but the more you learn about it the more it feels truly unique and leaves you wanting to know more, but then there are things like you inspect a kitchen and the characters make a ''Crab evolution joke'' lift up from a tumblr post and it just takes you out of the game completely (and in universe crab is supposed to be like an insult for some reason so it just constantly comes back again and again) a lot of the jokes have a much stronger Tumblr influence than in Undertale, that although a bit more random, fit the characters and story better
Like Siffrin hitting himself on the counter and accidentally going ''NYAH'', then literally every single characters make a joke about how funny it is that he made a sound that is known as a cutesy cat sound (even Odile and Siffrin immediately pick up on this cultural thing, when Odile is from Ka Bue and Siffrin is from $#"!#$!#!) or Ka Bue being just japan, like not even much extra lore built it's just japan, you even get to eat an actual Onigiri and the religion is literally just Japanese mythos
@@AeonKnigh432 I disagree with you strictly on Jimmy Hendrix.
I’m not saying the other parts were a walk in the park, but man, as someone who admits they have abandonment issues around friendships.
Holy crab this episode was tough. Hope no one saw me crying at work.
Thanks for playing such an amazing game, Lenti bloody killed me
2:36:14 Fun fact, when I first watched this, I mistook the upbeat “everyone’s here, it’s okay!” music for “that’s the end of the game, here are the end credits!” music and got /so scared/ for the hottest of seconds-
Omg imagine if that WAS the end
I just watched through all of the vods as episode 6 was coming out, and I started watching episode 6 during a work day and I was literally shaking and feeling physically ill after the Mirabelle talk earlier. The catharsis of all of Sif's friends reappearing and holding an intervention was such a relief. I just rewatched this episode today but had to skip over the failed friendship talks because they caused that much discomfort and anxiety. I'll buy the game in a couple months when I've saved up personal funds and am able to rewatch those scenes. Wonderful voice work from everyone, thank you so much for taking a 10/10 game and elevating it to 11 with the voices, truly transcendent.
how did you make this game irreversibly change me _again?_
That's the change god lmao
@@UltraV6565 the loop pfp made me read this comment in jello's loop voice and it was great. loop WOULD say lmao.
@@clawcakes2 they absolutely would lol

Gotta say, Vixen briefly coming in at 4:18:20 when the portrait change happens feels so so /so/ perfect. They absolutely killed it the whole time (as did everyone!), but that specific moment made me cheer irl. Phenomenal game, phenomenal stream cast, thank y'all for putting your heart and soul into all of these voices!
WWOOOOUUUGH WHAT A GAME
HOO BOY
auuuuuugghhhhhhhh Loop. oh Loop. oh my dear loop. you deserve a happy ending more than anyone. dear God i hope they get to be loved after all of this, an eternity alone is just too cruel
Man I guess I'm just stupid when I played on my own I thought sif killed everyone cause he had all the orbs so this part of the game was a lot of me remixing "sifrin no please"
nah i thought the same w/ the red and "your clothes..." remark of the king
I thought Sif killed them too. I wish the game made it more clear that that WASN'T what he did in that scene.
When I watched it first time I had that thought but then immediately dismissed it since, logically, Sif doing that (if we look at when the King grabbed Bonnie) would immediately loop back since his wish couldn’t be fulfilled. So I assumed he snuck in thief-style and stole ‘em
@@rackellamidnight4735 Sif's wish isn't actually revealed until Act 6 though.
I love how there’s just this incredible voice acting broken up by memes
Everyone was amazing in this stream! Shoutout to Insertdisc5 for making an incredible game :)
