I have a 2022 250 and it died 2x on me on the freeway, my first bike so im learning as i go. thank you cause im learing a lot from your video tomorrow im doing oil change and filter. T
I have the newer 2018 V Star version. In the then-new Raven Black Metallic. I always clean and oil the filter cover seal. Similar to what you do on a car engine's filter. Interesting that the 2011 takes 1.4L? My '18 takes 1.6L. I use Yamalube 10w-40 for the temp ranges we get here in the GLR.
When you undo the cap, like you said, the oil does drain quicker. Remove the drain plug first then undo the cap and let it drain. The oil doesn't flow out so fast when you first remove the drain plug. Not as messy that way, blessings!!
Just remove the fill plug to drain quicker. Leave the filter cover in place until the oil drain is a slow drip. That way, the oil doesn't run all over the frame & exhaust primary tube.
@@painterboy454 I do like researching the best way to do a job! I found the owner's manual for the 2018 V Star 250 online I keep in my computer. Thought it might even be better to get a copy in my 'droid.
Nice, I just picked one up and it doesn’t like heavy throttle at lower RPMs and when you give about half throttle revs up, but has rev hang. I will try to clean the carburetor soon because I was told the carburetor had bad gas in it and the oil filter seal was pinched so it leaks. Overall, I think they’re really nice bikes.
Yeah it's a really nice bike. I would make sure your throttle has freeplay. Usually if you twist the throttle fast and it bogs that means your accelerator pump isn't working

@@unionrdr, that is the best way! That way requires a man to have patience...a very important quality telling of one's character!
