Blame all of this on a guy who created Ticketmaster in the first place; he's now suing Metro because we want a subway paralleling the 405 Freeway, and he doesn't want that to happen. :/
One-time courtesy my *ss. If a concert gets moved, many times ticket owners can't go to the rescheduled date. If you don't refund their ticket, it leaves the customer disappointed and with a sour taste in their mouth. Ticketmaster, is that the experience you want your customers to remember your brand by? Just so that you can earn an extra buck? This is gross and disgusting behavior by a company clearly taking advantage of their monopoly position and taking advantage of the vulnerable ticket buyers who have no other option.
One of the reasons why they don't allow refunds is because it can cause issues when they do final settlement for the performers which can be serious deal if numbers don't match or if the artists/bands performed under the agreement of a specific amount based on the seats sold on file when they took the stage. Let's say you work for a non-profit that was having a comedy show as a fundraiser. Your agreement with the comedian is they would be preforming for free but that they would receive $7 for every ticket sold as reimbursement to offset travel expenses, hotel, food, and related expenses. You also agree that all ticket sales are final in order to maintain proper records and final settlement information. 4 weeks before the show, the comedian emails you and requests current ticket sales to determine if the show would be profitable. You inform the comedian that currently 350 tickets were sold and to expect $2,450 minimum for the show. You both agree the show will occur as planned with all expenses clearly being covered and your non-profit making a good amount of money in the end. 2 days before the show, you have one last email with the comedian with numbers sitting at 430 tickets sold, minimum of $3,010 for the comedian. Day of the show, a huge storm comes in and knocks power out to the venue you were using for the show. After speaking with the comedian who is already in town, you both agree to postpone the show to the next night as the comedian flight out isn't until the following morning. Comedian tells you that you can offer refunds for people unable to attend until the 12pm the next day before you need to close off refunds so you and him can figure out the new numbers. You send out an email to all attendees and inform them of the refund deadline if they want one. 12pm the next day comes and both you and the comedian sit down to review the numbers and agree to them which sit at 367 seats sold, Min. $2,569 to the comedian plus whatever is sold at the door. Unknowingly to you, people saw the email late past the deadline and demanded refunds which another member of your non-profit approved refunds for 35 tickets without you knowing. At this point, you do the math which is now 332 tickets sold, $2,324 to the comedian. You explain to the comedian what happened and he says "I have been very respectful and accommodating to you. I volunteered to perform for free and only request reimbursement of part of my expenses to be here today. So, I will give in to your situation and only ask for the $2,450 that we said 4 weeks ago or I will take the $2,324 but will walk without performing and you can take the matter up with my lawyer". What would your response be?
The ticket industry is the worst, but our boomer generation never lets go of anything and maybe it's not a bad idea to start "fining" any who go to see these "over the hill" acts😂
"One time courtesy"? They should refund tickets for cancelled concerts without question.
Ticketmaster is As Cold As Ice
& they're willing to sacrifice the love for that concertgoer.
Ticketmaster has been getting away with it for far too long, just like Diddy.
And they all knew and didn’t say anything!
😂
Airlines do it too. Even if you do get a refund, they beat you up with other service fees.
They didn't miss anything by not being there.
Hot June night and the power failed ? How many EVs were trying to charge?
I’ve been to every Depeche Mode tour since I was 18 years old up until their last tour. I love the band but *DUCK* Ticketmaster & LiveNation!
I worked at Concord Pavillion, loses power all the time.
Ticketmaster is very dominant for so long

I wouldn't pay $ to see Styx & Foreigner back in the 80s. But, I hate ticketmaster.
Were you a cheapskate or did you not like great music? In the 80s those bands were awesome and tickets were cheap.
Ahhhhhh glad I didn't buy tickets back then.
This is how online gambling is
Ticket brokers should be illegal.
