- Achievement Hunter co-founder Jack Pattillo responds to Rooster Teeth's shutdown by Warner Bros. Discovery on March 6th, 2024.
Footage taken from a Rooster Teeth livestream addressing the shutdown on March 7th, 2024.
Roughly 150 employees encompassing RT were effectively laid off and will be unemployed within a month or so, according to RT employees. The status of remaining and upcoming shows such as Camp Camp, RWBY, and Red vs. Blue: Restoration are unknown. Warner shutdown the company after being unable to sell the company and determining RT and its properties were "unprofitable." Warner is looking to sell these properties once RT is shutdown.
Please support any and all employees individually on their personal platforms. All proceeds made to RT directly now are not expected to go to any of the remaining employees as RT begins to shutdown.

After watching Let's plays from rooster teeth all the way since game time with Geoff and Burnie up until Fiona joined and it kinda became unbearable you are 100% right. That dynamic was NEVER good and now look where it has gotten them. Not at all surprised by this outcome and if anything, I'm amazed they made it this far after they fired Ryan and that whole AH dynamic shifted forever. If you like old school RT stuff check out Kinda Funny though they have never stopped being great!
Exactly. People fail to realise this. Love Jack but this mentality of his got annoying most of the time. But it never really impacted the company as he was the only person that really expressed it. But then they started hiring way more snowflakes that shared this mentality to handle other parts of the company which caused it to fall apart fast.

It's weird to see them congratulating themselves so much. This company went from sailing on success to being at the bottom of the ocean in just a few years. Denouncing any criticism as "haters" like Jack was doing in certain parts of this stream is, I think a huge part of the problem.

Rooster teeth was never “sailing on success” lol. They were decent started out but weren’t making any money so they went the outside funding route which used to be the only way you could make something like that work. The issue is that once you go with that you can’t go back so they were stuck in that world, unable to scale down the business due to both internal and external pressure. The fact that it was around for more than a decade is a testament to the people involved. That business model just never really worked in the first place.

Red vs Blue, Rage Quit, Achievement Hunter, the RT Podcast, RWBY-- all extremely successful. But they had controversy after controversy for the last several years, they were bought by WarnerBros., the people who started the company left while they could, etc. You are right that they got stuck in a corporate business model, but that hardly erases their years of success.
It sounded like Jack was just calling out the people who were being assholes, not the people who gave criticism.

You know literally yesterday, I was reminiscing randomly about the time I saw Jack at a con and he was eating subway. I didn't wanna bother him but my dad encouraged me to go over and ask for a pic. He didn't act annoyed at all that I was interrupting his food, even though I'm sure he was. I'm really thankful for something so small like that. He is a great dude and he has always been my favorite AH member

I owe rooster teeth and achievement hunter alot for my 360 days for helping me for completing an achievement on xbox and then get pulled into their other vids such as fails of the week or rt life, RT made an achievement for my life which was my childhood 30G
I stopped watching when Ray left. Sad to see them go, but from what I heard they already went past the point of wearing out their welcome.

Jack and Geoff have that bond that nobody can ever break. I fell out from RT and AH a while back, but over the years checking in, especially after Geoff lost Griffin, and fell down that path of serious depression and alcoholism, I noticed Jack was the brother figure in Geoff's life and helped him get back on track! Everybody within the company worked cohesively like a family. So sad to see the crew splitting up!
They really fucked it up when they decided to try and make the dumb Genlock thing and the RT First.
The cult mindset they all had about how great the company is and the fans know nothing and how awesome it was to be in an MCM.

I found RT and AH in 2012 and it helped me get through a lot. I fell off around 2019/2020 but would try to check in once in a while. I wish everyone there success in where ever this leads them next. The minecraft let's plays were a massive part of my childhood. Their downfall was in 2016 after Trump won, and they had an episode where they smashed mugs with trumps face on them, if they had just left their political opinions off the channel, maybe things would be different, people wanted to watch them game, and enjoy the banter between the team. Politics has no place in video games, and certainly no place on the channel, you alienate huge part of your audience, when you take a political stance like that. Maybe if they had just stuck to gaming, instead of going on this woke tyrade, things would be different.

Little conspiracy about why this year was the nail in the coffin for the company. Around this time 10 years ago is when the move to the studio happened and the maker buy-out occurred. To secure a property like that most likely came with a minimum lease of 10 years. The logistics of finding another building with their accounts drained completely and restructuring all the spaces and divisions was too much for WB to do, with their investors worn very thin over the years. Breaks my heart to see a media company that i've had the pleasure of enjoying for 13 years, made me feel so many emotions, and given me too many memories and experiences through RTX 4 years in a row, is coming to a close...Thank you to all the wonderful staff that is and has been making this thing work over all the years
If it's due to WB having money issues, then it really boils down to (like every bad thing happening to WB recently) Zaslav and Discovery taking on debt to acquire WB, and then making WB responsible for paying off the debt.

TH-cam ads arnt what they used to be (why they changed their tone, brand imaging, and language aprox. 5 years ago), and sponser deals only pay so much for estimated views. This is coming from someone who was a fan of the company from the early days of RvB and back when AH actually was about achievements.
Once they lost all control and were beholden to big daddy WB, it was over. Content was watered down and repetitive all in the name of chasing the algorithm. Constant price hikes on First membership, paywalls on long established series, removal of TH-cam libraries, unfunny personalities on camera, attacking the audience for valid criticisms, lackluster merch. The list goes on

Loved rooster teeth growing up, especially the achievement hunter group. It just sucks they got to big for themselves in the end to where they were mismanaging themselves and this is where I have problems with guys like Geoff or Jack as much as I like them as entertainers, they’re just shit businessman on the corporate level. And one of the worst things you can do is telling people to fuck off like they were doing when they were getting criticism. I get there’s trolls and such, but you lost most of your main fandom for a reason so when people were trying to explain why, blocking them or telling them they’re not welcome into the RT community just put the nail in that coffin for them.
So I just find it funny Jack felt he had to go over blocking the assholes here cause that’s partially why you’re where you are dude. If you can’t take the heat then you either toughen up or it’s not for you. And we know Jack has never been one to take criticism that well in the first place.
I know the farewell stuff did have trolls too, lot of people saying “finally”, or “took you all long enough to die”, “go woke go broke”. I saw it and the best thing you can do is literally not acknowledge that. You acknowledged it though and let them have that moment over you.
As someone who grew up with watching RT content in the mid 2000s, this is just heartbreaking. Jack and Geoff are some of my favourite internet personalities. And RT has always been a channel I've come back to time and time again

Except it costs millions of startup dollars to purchase equipment and hire production/editing crew. Plus legal fees and government zoning red tape to get around for commercial space. There may also be no-compete clauses that prevent anyone from going independent for a couple years.
That is the easy part. The hard part is gaining a following and making enough revenue in a short amount of time to keep the bills paid.
I think unfortunately this whole era of internet culture is coming to an end. It’s all about the clout chasing twitch streamers anymore. Sucks that they have to be in this situation but I’m sure many of them knew it was inevitable.
