    FYI , I’m not being critical or judgmental ....I use one of those cleaning pads (orange) and wash out..... from Blackstone once in a while ( works great) and always use a white rag with water, til comes back white and clean. A couple light coats of Canola oil from Walmart on low heat and paper towel..... griddle stays perfect... I avoid that “build up “ in middle by using med and low heat most of time. Whenever I go high heat ! I have lots of problems occur. I have 2 Black Stones ..... a 22 “ and 13 year old 36 “....... I also owned a restaurant ( wings / burgers) and we always kept stainless griddle heat On med. Just something to think about. Love your Channel. Keep it up.

    I have cleaned my griddle like you are doing many times until I watched Kent Rollins and his method. The hot water will for sure help lift the burned on mess but it also lifts the seasoning by way of steam. The better way I have learned is to have a wooden spatula with an edge on it. Heat up the grill and scrape it with the wooden spatula. After all the mess is removed, use a lent free cloth and remove all the burned on mess you just released. As soon as the griddle cools, coat it with a little oil. It is now ready for the next time. I also have used a metal scrapper like you have here but it too will lift the seasoning. Never use metal to clean your griddle or cast iron cookware. Give it a try, I think you will see what I am talking about. Chef Jerry

    Awesome and easy! I am so stuck in doing everything the way we did in the restaurant that I am making things more complicated than they have to be. We cleaned grill with grill cleaner, then water every night. After we would put vinegar on the grill to keep it from rusting. That process was no fun!

It looks clean to the eye but when I wipe theres always some residue on the white towel. Is that normal or do I keep wiping till clean. Sometimes I can see the little specks on food, pancakes etc.. please advise. Thanks huss

      I use water and a damp white bar towel after scrapping a couple of times til rag comes back still white. Then a paper towel and some Canola oil on low til stops smoking. I do that 2 times and I’m done in 4 min. Just enough time for my steak to rest and time for dinner. Try it ... Quick and easier than wiping out a pan. No soap....ever....just a damp rag and Canola oil. Done ✅

    i can tell ya'll how to clean a electric grill, Easy! get it hot! and pour hot water on it, and wipe off Water break it up and floats on the grill > The tuff spots use a plastic spatula Should come rite off. Reason for plastic? so you don't scrape off the seasoning, and don't make scratches. Treat it like cast iron. Yes i lightly heat up the cast iron then put hot water on it. That what i do too cool > Then i dry it with heat, season it again with heat and a light coat of Olive oil, or can just dry it with heat, and put a light coat of olive oil on it cold too either way ALWAYS DRY IT WITH HEAT! then a light oil > i use olive oil

    Does yours ever warp when you clean it? I have the 22” and when I put water on it, it will do that but then go back to normal after a bit. Even with hot water. Tonight, though it did it when I was cutting up some cooked chicken. I’ve waiting on a response to a message to Blackstone too.

      Terry Young the best way to clean it is to add boiling water to cool it down(while it’s been fully heated up) add the hot water until it slightly stops sizzling add restaurant grade degreaser or any bbq cleaner that has degreaser and scrub well for about a few minutes and keep adding degreaser until the whole flat top is soaking in the cleaner. Also it should be a soapy consistency if the degreaser sizzles too much and dries up then the griddle is too hot

    I worked for the Waffle House years ago. God knows nobody gives a grill a better workout than a Waffle House cook on Friday and Saturday night. Every cook had to clean the grill at the end of their shift and even that wasn't enough. We used grill bricks which do a fantastic job but leave behind a bit of messy particles that you still have to rinse off well before you re-season it with oil.You can order them online and they last a long time. One trick we used if the grill got too gunky mid shift was we poured a big cup of Sprite on the grill and scraped it down. My guess is the citric acid and the carbonation combined was what made it work so good. It would get you through the rest of your shift lickety split. So try these two tricks and let me know if they work for you. One trick we used and I do not recommend it , is we put a big bowl of ice on the grill and scraped it down . It does work really well but it can crack your grill top in two, so don't do that. It is an expensive lesson if you happen to be unlucky and break your grill in half. If it broke a Waffle House commercial grade grill in half it could surely bust up a Blackstone right easy. I'm gonna find one of your gadgets and give it a try.

    Best thing you could do is throw blackstone's directions on how to clean it out the window, go to a professional restaurant store and get a grill cleaning brick... If you can't figure out how to use it look up a video on how to clean a professional grill.

    • @thehungryhussey
      @thehungryhussey  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the advise, however you have to be careful here, this isn't the same material as used in restaurants. Most of that material is stainless steel, where this is cold rolled steel and has been seasoned. I have a brick but use it very lightly. Water really works the best when hot.
