It’s interesting how in this song they are actually telling you to go away, “turn and swim back to your shore, sailor”, while the first song is them telling sailors to follow their voice. I think that this is because this song starts playing when you kick Scylla’s ass enough times that she actively tries to dissuade you from approaching
In my playthrough, I noticed this song started playing in Oceanus where in the last run Scylla had dialogue abt how they listen to feedback from fans, and Mel’s critique was that they were drowning sailors, so i took this song to mean that they do, in fact listen xD that run i was so looking forward to more dialogue addressing it but there wasnt any :’)
I have a theory that this song is the "enchanted" version. When you go through the level, something so melodious and pleasant plays, but when you go to the sirens, they are actually singing about how they will claw out your eyes and drown you. The music, the motive itself and some of the lyrics are similar to I Am Gonna Claw. I wish that's true.
can't wait to have this stuff on streaming services, Darren Korb and Ashley Barrett killing it again! The vocalists for the other Sirens doing a great job too!
I think to hear this song you need to beat scylla, the other song beckons the player to go towards the sirens, this one does the opposite. I havent tested but suspect they sing this one after you beat their ass a bit
First night in a Oceanus Area music: Song of the Sirens Lyrics: Come to me, rest your head Second night in Oceanus Area music: Song of the Deep Lyrics: gtfo we friggin hate you
There's actually 3 singers for these tracks! If you check out the description, they list that Erin Yvette (Scylla), Ashley Barrett (Roxy) and Judy Alice Lee (Jetty) are all vocalists for the tracks in this region. Seems listing them in the title would be a bit too long...
I wish I had the musical vocab to pin down why some of the Hades II songs remind me of the Transistor OST, e.g. whatever's happening at 0:30 reminds me of "Impossible" and "Dormant". "Song of the Sirens" obviously reminds me of "In Circles" and "Signals", and the techno Tartarus songs have some real Cloudbank vibes with those awesome crunchy drums. There's also gameplay stuff, like Hades' Arcana Cards working a lot like Transistor's Functions. I'm only 11 hours in and I love the little "aha!" moments I keep having.
I agree with this so much; The Arcana Card thing is something I just put together. Good catch! 👍 I find that Hades 1 (in general) gave me some Bastion vibes. My reasoning for that isn't much beyond both playable characters being male, although, both Transistor and Hades II have female playable characters, so maybe I'm onto something.
I don't think I've ever enjoyed a video game soundtrack as much as I've enjoyed both Hades soundtracks. I heard Coral Crown first, when I was watching a playthrough of the Hades II early access, then started listening to the entire soundtrack. It wasn't long after that that I listened to the original Hades soundtrack and enjoyed that one just as much.
Worth mentioning, this flows into I Am Going To Claw Out Your Eyes And Drown You To Death IMMACULATELY when put back to back in a playlist Props to Supergiant for going the extra mile and making the ending of this track transition into its boss counterpart
it's the precursor to I am Gonna Claw in the game. it's not explicitly said in the game but in my mind these are the same song, you just hear this pleasant version from afar and once you get close enough the veil is removed so to speak, and the real song is clearly heard. Same with Song of the Sirens into Coral Crown btw.
Bit of a weird request, but can we get the full combined version of this and I Am Gonna Claw? I can almost guarantee the songs are meant to come one after another with how this one ends and the other begins, and it would be very satisfying to have them all in the same video/track.
The 1st chorus's last line goes like this: [Float away forever more from here] And it seemed weird to me... until I heard the 2nd chorus: [Turn around and swim back to your shore, sailor Float away forever more... *from_here* Turn around and swim back to your shore, sailor Float away forever more from here] and the 3rd chorus is the same as the 2nd one. Now it all fits together perfectly. 😁
Hippocampus are literal sea horses (as in aquatic horses) in Greek mythology. The name Hippocampus was later applied to real life seahorses. The part of the brain that is responsible for making and packaging memories, the Hippocampus, later got its name because someone thought it looked like a seahorse

Yup! It also hints as to which song you'll usually hear in the boss room as this almost always is followed by Claw out your eyes
@@AverageJ03Gaming I like how they threaten you with all the fish from that song
Looking for a pure instrumental version of this?
It is also interesting since Orpheus sang of not turning back.
I like to think that it's to make sure her next audience is with Melanoe only lol
Song of the sirens: Come closer...
Song of the deep: Get the f*ck out!!!
Just realized that a good chunk of the fish they list at 2:52 (seamare/bass/gupp/sturgeon/charp/scuffer) are the fish you can catch in Hades 1!
They're also the ones she lists on her 2nd boss track
I just absolutely love how this song gets more and more clear as you descend deeper into oceanus
In my playthrough, I noticed this song started playing in Oceanus where in the last run Scylla had dialogue abt how they listen to feedback from fans, and Mel’s critique was that they were drowning sailors, so i took this song to mean that they do, in fact listen xD

it's definitely true, and the same for the other song, Coral Crown and its "enchanting" version Song of the Sirens.
turn around and swim back to your shoreeee

float away forevvvvverrrrr moreeeeeeeee from here
the way the backing vocals rise during "forever more" is just otherworldly.

Erin Yvette is the main vocalist actually, ahsley barrett and judy alice lee are the supporting vocals though i think
It's on spotify. If you haven't looked by now 👀
idk if youve seen yet, but the OST is on Spotify now! Agreed that they're killing it, all of the music for Oceanus is *Chef's kiss*

Went several runs without hearing this particular track in the area. I'm glad for getting to suddenly experience it.

With voice like that, I can see how sailors could be helplessly lured to their deaths by sirens. This is one deadly song
"Blues and Greens" idk why but i love the context it feels peaceful considering the fact I'm scared of the big water .

got to the sea area for the first time, heard this song, refused to go further, listening to this masterpiece 🗿
A minute of silence for another brave sailor who ended up in sirens' embrace.
I'm actually realising that i'll be one of them 100% all the syrens songs are incredible
that's funny cos I'm pretty sure this song doesn't play until you upset scylla, "got to the sea area for the first time, heard this song"
liar
you can't get this song on the first time
you are a bald-faced liar!
I LOVE HER SO MUCH
Since it's not shown "(feat. Ashley Barrett)" in the titles anymore, does it mean that Ashley is officially part of the studio now?

What a voice.
I think this song is by far catchier than the signature Song of the Sirens.
I'm actually worried next time I go swimming this will play in my head. Maybe if I ever drown this will be playing
@@Lorendrawn good thing they tell you to swim back to your shore, the sirens are so kind for that
Talk about a vibe
This is basically the slow version of I Am Gonna Claw. Genius composition!

Liked at the first sound of that sweet voice - and the rest didn't disappoint!
Absolutely stunning theme) I didn’t expect to hear it as ambient music on location after only instrumental tracks in Hades 1
Augh, I wish there was an instrumental version of this one 😭🙏
The 1st chorus's last line goes like this:
[Float away forever more from here]
And it seemed weird to me... until I heard the 2nd chorus:
[Turn around and swim back to your shore,

and the 3rd chorus is the same as the 2nd one. Now it all fits together perfectly. 😁

Why the sirens be singing so damn angelic?
umm that's the point lol :D
@@Tocy777isback0414 yeah... like dude they're sirens. That's pretty much all they do if they aren't like... ya know drowning you.

Very cool
i have a huge crush on a sea monster now 🤕
No one can blame you, brother.
This song and I'm gonna claw (out your eyes and drown you) have been stuck in my head for like a week now! FAWK
This song ends a tad abruptly... but I think TH-cam is to blame seeing as they like shortening videos by one second most of the time.
On the album, this track transitions directly into I Am Gonna Claw. Play them back-to-back, you'll see why.
masterpiece, other thinking, i don't wanna know you :]
Bothered me a little that she lists starfish twice
She actually says “Sawfish” according to the lyrics in the description
Though the soundtrack is good, i miss orpheus' song in the base. It feels like there's overall less emotional music without him.
