god I love how the closer you get to the source the louder the singing gets, it gets pretty hypnotizing within the ambience of Oceanus, I am not immune to a siren's call apparently
Same! I loved that attention to detail. They are literally hypnotising you to come closer to them. All of their songs are absolutely mesmerising too. Great region in general
The Transistor vibes are even better if you've equipped the Moonstone Axe, and Mel is dragging it along the ground behind her as she's running around. Such a beautiful callback, especially with the humming going on in the background...
I love the mixup here - in Hades 1, any time you heard music with lyrics during a run, it was always in a place where the lyrics were sung by a friendly character (Eurydice & Orpheus). In this game, you go into this area and hear a song with lyrics, likely expecting to find another character friendly to your cause, only to find out that you actually have to fight the singer :)
As soon as I heard the lyrics I could tell the singer was bad news, but that's still an awesome switchup. Because now hearing the siren song get closer and closer builds up a huge sense of tension for the whole area the first time through.
I always loved going into Asphodel in the first game just because of the chance that I might get to hear Eurydice sing each run. Everytime I came across her room it was my routine to sit there for at least a couple of minutes just to listen to her songs, so I always had a big musical attachment to the second zone. I was wondering if they were going to opt out of that entirely in Hades 2, which was disappointing to think about but it seemed perfectly reasonable so I didn't expect too much going into my runs. Imagine the sheer amount of dopamine in my brain when I first enter Oceanus and start hearing this hauntingly beautiful singing, getting louder and clearer with every room I advance into, literally singing 'come to me'. The theme of the area instantly gave away what was coming, but it was such a beautiful revelation that I still can't get over it every time I listen to this song. Absolutely flawless, beautiful execution!!!
isn't it similar to how the roar of the crowd gets louder and louder with elysium? I love it when environmental stuff like this is just a thing in the game
Supergiant has had at least one major song with vocals (not counting the credits) in every one of their games, there was no way they were gonna skip it this time.
Unsolicited storytelling time: In the myths, Scylla was originally an ocean nymph. There are a few different versions of her transformation, but in the one I remember, some guy fell in love with her, but Scylla wanted nothing to do with him. He tried to chase her down, so she went into hiding. So naturally the guy went and found Circe, the pig mage from the Odyssey. Circe fell in love with him, because this is Greek mythology, but this time *he* wanted nothing to do with *her,* and because this is Greek mythology, Circe reacted not by turning him into a pig like she usually does, but by poisoning the pools Scylla used for bathing. That was what warped Scylla into what she is now. IIRC in the myths it was also supposed to have driven her insane, hence her hanging out with Charybdis and eating a bunch of Odysseus' crew. I'm not sure if they're going to use any of this in the game (although they've already referenced the fact that Scylla isn't a Siren), but if they do I suspect they'll probably say that her eating sailors, hating witches and gods, and hanging out with sirens is a form of revenge for all that shit, rather than a product of magical insanity.
ngl now I understand why sailors couldn't resist... when the vocals started I just stood still in game for five minutes and listened to it. i don't know how you make me do this consistently in every game... i love you all. thank you for creating such beauty and joy.
@@ayaya173 in Greek mythology sirens would sing alluring songs and sailors would hear it from afar, they couldn't resist the song and would change course towards the song, which would inevitably end in shipwreck because the island of the sirens was surrounded by rocks.
Man, video game area music is a line to walk between "engaging and interesting" and "not distracting from the gameplay", and that's even harder with a piece that has lyrics. This manages to not only walk that line, but do ballet on it. Absolutely incredible, as always.

Definitely pulled me forward -- and to my death against the enemies a few times!

the added bonus was that when I noticed the drums and the guitar die out if you defeat them, or the vocal, being muffled when prioritized. I was sad and disappointed cause I can't vibe with it as much anymore.
I wish I knew of more music like this. The Sirens were a great addition to Hades 2. Each song is amazing.
I put this song on loop and listen to it while working. When I snap out and realize its already two hours pass. This song really are at the Siren level in mythology and I love it
GOD! Literally, this song alone sold me the game. I'm awake at 4 am listening to this and I practically stoped functioning a couple of minutes for how excited this song made me feel. I can't wait to find it in game aaaaaaa
Come to me, rest your head
Warm within ocean's bed
Rock and sway your worries down
Ebb and flow, fast and sound
Come, friends, don't be afraid
Come, my dears, pains wash away
Stay with me, be at peace
Fears, be still, troubles cease
Hear my voice sweetly sing
Lullaby, precious thing
Come, friends, don't be afraid
Come, my dears, pains wash away
Away
Come, follow sounds of seashells
Pull the line that leads to me
Give heed to me, follow me
Come to me, come to mе
Come to me, come to mе
Come, come to me
Ooh-ooh-ooh
Close your eyes, hear my song
Quickly now, don't be long
Come, friends, don't be afraid
Come, my dears, pains wash away
Away
Away
Friends
Away
Thanks
@@moafighting1597so it's true that no one reads the description
@@blacxthornE considering that youtube recently rolled out an a/b test where the small description summary wasn't shown at all, just the video release date and views and all that metadata
yeah, no, i don't think youtube even wants people to read them lmao
You know it’s gonna be good when Zag returns to compose
I'm scared to hear how Hades 2 ending song would sound like, this one already gives me goosebumps, its just so good.
Now if you put this against "the Lament of Orpheus" or "Good Riddance" from the first game, then you have the Orpheus vs the Sirens from myth.
cool thinking!!
i need to reread the myths again lol
Instant fucking classic.
Love you guys and everything you do, would love to see Scylla and the Sirens live in concert!!!
This immediately started living rent-free in my head. When I woke up today it just popped back into my brain & accompanied me into the world of the properly awake- though I just realised that I mixed it with Song of the Deep in my half-asleep state. They're all so good 💙
So glad this is on TH-cam
Ashely is back
I found myself dreaming of a life that I really wished I had.... But it's oh my gods Hades|| I think the output is even better than the melody of the sirens
Thank you in advance for everything, Supergiant team🖤
Are you doing okay?
@@amanwithnoname-ds6ep no one really is
I thought I wouldn't like the 2nd environment when I first got to it, but when the music got better the closer you got to the boss, I'm always excited to get through the 1st environment.
This game rules
this song is so fuckin good. another amazing soundtrack, seriously. holy shit
NEED this on Spotify
Thank god I got a steam deck a couple weeks ago, I’m loving hades 2 so far
Hades 2 plus the Pokémon fan games I have access to makes my Steam Deck worth it!
This is my reminder that I’d be so fucked if sirens were real.
Also quite dead
This is what we all hear when we want to go to bed but we're only halfway through our shift.
If i am on a boat and hear this music, I'll be the first one overboard
Listening to this song I realize I would definitely sail directly into jagged rocks
The best game music I've ever heard
OMG I CANNOT WAIT UNTIL 1.0 I WANNA PLAY SOOO BADLY
isnt the point of waiting till 1.0 to avoid spoilers? You gotta get outta here!
@@colbyzimmermann7920 so some people (like me) don't have a place to play early access on. i'm not trying to avoid spoilers. i'm waiting to physically be able to play the game lol
buy it now. do it. 0.9 is just one-tenth away from 1.0
@@_DanerJimenez_ hm i think youtube glitched and didn't show my previous comment. anyways, not everyone has something to play the game on 👍
i physically cannot unless i buy a new computer that i cannot afford/do not need.
@@colbyzimmermann7920 not trying to avoid spoilers. why would i be here if i was trying to???
It's already week when i heard first time this song and still humming in my head, help its really song of the sirens i can't stop this.... 10/10
Oh my god it’s so good so far. I’m only on the first area but I like the story more than the first one already. Incredible game so far, incredible
I love this!!!! I enjoy seeing itin bass and love the duet i can create
They beat my ass, but man that was a cool song.
Same, I managed for a few minutes looked at their barley scratched health bar and went I'm getting my ass Absolutely handed to me 🤣
I legit thought I was gonna fight red and i was so hyped for a crossover lmao but im definitely not gonna complain about scylla her battle theme is definitely gonna be replayed over and over again lol
Playing this level was incredible if only for the music. Loving early access!
Supergiant are big brain. People can't upload your music onto TH-cam if you upload it yourself before they do. :P
(Still will buy the OST for this series. It's great and deserves to be bought.)
You know, I used to sail with Odysseus. Then I heard this song and frankly, it was so beautiful I practically crashed the boat against the rocks!
Another banger from the Supergiant sound team.
I need more scylla in my life
you can't stay away, seems every day you keep coming back here...
now it's plain to see, you wanna be under the sea, with your favorite sirens...
you're so obsessed with me
not that I can blame you for it; i would be too if i were you...
@@blacxthornE they legit made a siren song! I wish there were a full album of it!
Such a good song, would love to hear a vocals only version!
"That song is stuck in my head"
