Not only did I learn a safety feature about my car but you saved me. My trunk was stuck and there was another video with a keyhole behind the rear seat of my Mustang but I couldn’t find it so I used the emergency release lever and it worked. Thanks for making this video

hello great video...how do you open trunk when you have a dead battery
1) fob wont work with a dead battery
2) button at back below licence plate wont work with a dead battery
3) inside car dash trunk button wont work with a dead battery
4) how do you get in trunk to put in a new battery???
Well that would depend on the vehicle but likely your options would be
1. Manually with the key
2. Manually by pulling the trunk release handle from behind the back seat
3. Get a boost (okay this one is sort of a given haha)

Doesn't exist in 2010 Ford Focus, unless its very well hidden.
It definitely should be there, it could be well hidden or could've been cut at one point. If you need more assistance finding this, I would suggest asking an automotive shop to help out!

@@cookieward2611 Either the latch is stuck from the pulling the handle too hard or possibly the latch itself would need to be replaced. I recommend that you take it to your trusted mechanic and have them take a look!

My focus mk3 TDCi sedan don't have this feature (Taiwanese market version)
Their are subtle differences between the markets, it's true.
Bottom don't work to open trunk and I lock my keys on the trunck
If your keys are locked in then you would need to find a way to access the interior of the car. You could potentially fold the rear seats down to reach your keys. Otherwise, AMA or Roadside Assistance can help get you back in your vehicle.
I did this and ever since then my trunk doesnt open with the FOB, interior release button, or lockpad and the backup camera doesnt work. Its like something needs to be reset but i dont know what.
That's odd! Something might be preventing the trunk from opening with your fob. I would recommend seeing your trusted automotive technician or shop and seeing if they can troubleshoot the problem for you!

This helped but still my trunk ajar light still on, plus it won't open with key,interior button or exterior button. Latch motor, wire maybe???
It would likely need to be pulled apart to diagnose it, but if the key doesn’t work OR the release button/switch I would suspect a problem with the physical latch itself
Hmm... this is a good feature. Since knowing my Ford Falcon Sedan's in Australia all had them for a great while. As 1 time left keys in boot and managed to open boot to grab it with them release tabs.

How do you get your trunk to lock back after you pull the tab? Mine won’t latch
It should be spring loaded and automatically return to the original position. If not, you may need to manipulate the cables or use a spray lubricant (WD40) to free the assembly. Hope this helps.
Ok, I'M in the river, my car is under water. How do I get the back seat off to get into the trunk and is there enough room once the back seat is off ( a task not easily done on dry land lol ) to get into the trunk. What if the trunk is loaded with stuff? I can see being shoved into the trunk and being kidnapped but if your under water your screwed and i just do not see how anyone but a child could "accidentally" lock themselves in a trunk lol.
Haha, you never know! I suppose if the trunk is full you'd have to start removing things as you go to make room! I agree it would be difficult to do this underwater, especially under the stress of that situation. But nonetheless, a handy tip to know!

WhT about a 2021 Ford ecosport
Unfortunately, there is not the same type of release in the EcoSports, but there are possibly other ways to open it if you want to try these!
Key fob: Press and hold the unlock button on the key fob to pop open the trunk.
Lever: Find the trunk latch release lever underneath the driver’s seat and pull up until you hear the trunk latch release.
my trunk release lever has cut, how do I drag the chord out?
I'm not too sure, unfortunately, you might need to visit a auto shop and see if they're able to help out!
Any real killer will cut that off

Yes, after being engaged, it retracts and is ready to use again.
This is truely unbelievable for the Ford Fusion Hybrid 2013, if you have a dead battery and want to change it you have to get the trunk open because the battery is in the trunk, however because your battery is dead you will not be able to get your truck open even though there is about 4 ways to do it..you have to open the hood of the car and jump the connectors there(its not the battery as battery is in trunk) and then once you get juice open your trunk, can. you freaking believe this, no wonder Ford is in trouble,,,instructions below
We often get asked how to open a Ford Fusion hybrid trunk with a dead battery.
To open the trunk in a Ford Fusion with a dead battery, you will need to manually open the driver's door and the hood. Then locate the jump-start terminals under the hood to power up the vehicle and open the trunk by pressing the button on the dashboard or keyfob.
Follow these step-by-step instructions on how to open the trunk of a Ford with a dead battery.
Remove the metal key from the keyfob. All smart keyfobs have a metal key inside that can be used to unlock the driver's door.
Remove the cap on the driver's door and unlock the door.
Pull the hood release and open the hood.
Locate the battery jump-start terminals in the engine bay. Look for a red plastic cover directly in front of the driver's side. That is the positive terminal. For the negative, there is a ground bolt sticking up out of the shock tower. Connect jump starter or a battery charger at these terminals to power up the vehicle.
Press unlock on the keyfob or the trunk release button on the dashboard to open the trunk.
If you need to jump-start a Ford with a dead battery, use the terminals in the engine bay. Do not jump from the battery in the trunk.

My trunk latch somehow got into the closed position while the trunk was open. Now I can't get it to unlatch and the trunk won't close. Pulling on the emergency release isn't working nor is using the trunk release buttons on key fob or dashboard. Any suggestions?
We would recommend bringing your vehicle by the dealership and allowing one of our Service team members to take a look. It's likely something simple.
@@draytonvalleyford It was something simple, actually. I removed the trunk liner, disconnected the wiring plug, and removed the latch assembly. I pulled off the plastic sleeve covering the unit and the latching mechanism was then accessible. I inserted a bamboo chopstick into the latch opening and released the spring-loaded catch that was holding it in the closed position. The latch works normally after re-installing.

Cars after 2002 only has it.
It would be unlikely that a vehicle of that age wold have such a safety feature.
Any car model without the year begining with 20 like 2001 won't have this so your 1999 Ferrari is useless
