      I know this is late to reply but it might help someone...
      This is the only way I know and it's a hard one :
      1- insert the key 🗝 in the door handle (underneath it u see a slot where u can insert the key and push to the right ) to open that cover then u get access to open the door mechanically
      2- get to the driver's seat and jump to the rear seats to fold down one of the rear seats to get access to the trunk
      3- reach the "escape handle release " and pull it to open the trunk

    Another way is through tha back seat. It's a bit more involved, but is necessary with a dead battery. There's a release latch top right of back seat. Once the seat is pulled down, you have to reach in and pull the emergency release cord attached to the trunk lid that has a yellow handle. You will need a long grabber type tool.

    For the Hybrids when the battery is dead once you open the door you can pop the hood and there is a positive & negative connection just for jump-starting it. The Hybrid Battery connection that leads to the battery in the trunk is on the right side if you're facing the windshield. The positive connection is to the left under the small red cover and the negative connection is a small bolt with a stem/screw coming up directly in front of it. Connect the positive first then the negative and turn on your portable jump-start device/unit and start the car.

    I had no idea there was a button on the trunk. That is nice.

    And #5
    Don't forget about the emergency release inside of the trunk. You can pull the seats down from inside the car and crawl into the trunk to access the glow-in-the-dark emergency pull release. Great video by the way!

      I was excited to learn this one because I believe it's the only option when your car battery is dead. BUT.... When my seats are laid down the access to the trunk is so small. Certainly can't get even a kid to crawl back there. AND, the release is out of reach of my 5'11" wingspan. I fashioned a tool to grab the loop for me and pulled the heck out of it, and it won't release.

    None of these work with a dead battery.

      I just replaced my dead battery in the trunk. I accessed the emergency release cord in the trunk by pulling the back seat down. There's a release latch top right of back seat. Pull the seat down and there's a horizontal opening. I used a long grabber tool to reach in and pull the release cord. It's attached to the trunk lid and has a yellow plastic handle.

    OK how do you open it when the battery is dead to jump it because the battery is in the trunk???

    • @TheDaddynate
      @TheDaddynate 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      U have to get inside the car first then let the back seat down and pull the release string

    • @RyeinGoddard
      @RyeinGoddard 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can't do that with the Energi models because they have the batteries.

    • @AndrewH.
      @AndrewH. 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Battery is under the hood, not in the trunk. If you pull-down the back seats you can enter the trunk and pull the emergency release latch that has been standard on all cars sold in America since 2001.
      *Edit* - May not be possible to lay the seats down in the Energi model and also I wouldn't recommend laying the driver-side rear seat all the way down because the damn safety mechanism in the seat-belt likes to lock-up making it impossible to move the seat back up into position unless you remove the seat cushion and remove the torx bolt to release the belt... really f'kn annoying...

    If you have an energi and a dead battery you can use a wire hanger to reach and pull the "escape release handle" in the trunk.

  • @toml.8210
    @toml.8210 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    You didn't mention the "escape release handle" that you will find inside the trunk, but it only works on car with a fold-down rear seat, and little kids. you have to fold the seat down and climb in to reach the release handle.

    how do you open it when battery is dead and without a key

    • @jjt2me
      @jjt2me 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Prepare for this by tying a rope to the emergency trunk release, and the other end goes in the rear cabin, or like I did, tie it to the metal loop that one of the end fold-down rear seats latches to--that way it doesn't encroach into the passenger compartment.

    Not helpful because these alternatives all assume that you have power. If you have found this video on youtube it is almost certainly because you are trying to replace a dead battery.

      Not Helpful?? Amazingly this video save a Texas Rangers life while in a gunfight and could not access her trunk where her long gun was located because her fob was inside the car. She Googled and found this video and by using the button located on the back near the tag she was able to open and access her weapon. She called and personally Thanked me for posting the video and potentially saving her life.

    Thanks for the reply! I called Ford customer service and discussed my 2015 Fusion Titanium. First, to open the trunk with the switch above the license plate, or to open my doors by touch (on the right, top part of the outside handle,) my fob HAS to be within 3 feet of the outside door handle or the button above the license plate, whichever you are opening at the time. I took the fob to the car and the outside handle opened the locked door. I locked all doors again, set the fob down about 12 feet away, and the door did NOT open! Same results on the test of the rear trunk button. This car has so many functions and buttons...I feel like I'm flying an Apollo space ship!!!

Ford says the hood larch is a popular part that's sold. It fails a lot. It can be released through the grill on both sudes.

    Recently, I got a 2015 Ford Fusion Titanium. I watched your video on 4 ways to open the trunk. On the last option, to press the button over the rear license plate...do you have to have the key fob, for the keyless Fusion version (which I have,) near in order to open the trunk? Surely, if anyone walked up to the Fusion in a parking lot, while you are in a store, for example, that person cannot "just push the button" and get in the truck, can he/she? I've wondered this but have not been able to locate this in the manual. THANK YOU!

      I have 2016 SE. In trying it, you have to have all the doors unlocked. Even with just your driver door unlocked, you can't get into the trunk. So, no one can get into your car if your car is locked concerning the last option. I'm not sure if other models unlock with the fob just in your pocket. Mine will not.

    Thanks for the post!
    I have a Lincoln MKZ Hybrid 2014. It is pretty much the same as the Fusion. The trunk has the automatic lift/close option. When closing it is supposed to slowly lock and seal. My problem is that the auto open/close doesn't work and the lid latches but won't close all the way. There's a bit of a gap. When I got the car few weeks back, it was working (mostly). It gradually become non-working. I have not tried the button above the license plate, but have just crawled through the back seats to open the trunk. Any explanations/suggestions?
    Does the 12 volt batter on the (driver) side inside the trunk have anything to do with this malfunction? PLEASE advise; this is very frustrating. Cheers!
