    I agree 100% about the cast crank. I’ve had guys turn their noses up at the cast crank I had in my 347. The motor was NA and wasn’t making over 500hp. I didn’t plan to boost it, so why pay for a forged crank? Just because you don’t build a motor to handle 1000hp doesn’t mean it’s garbage. Love this build. Didn’t even know it was a thing.

    • @Neomustangs
      @Neomustangs  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yep, its why i made that point in the video. THese rods will bend or pistons will melt before that cast crank falls apart. Maybe? Maybe not but im guessing its close

      @@Neomustangs I think high rpm would kill the crank before you overpower it for sure. But with a 387 and a B cam you won’t spin it too too high

      Stock F4TE cranks have been taken to 800hp. I’ll be honest it’s probably a wet noodle at that level bending and twisting. 3” mains and beefy 2.312 journals give it some strength.

    Did the same build basically for my 71 f100 shortbed 4x4. The 387 stroker is a Perfect engine for a 1/2 ton 4x4 . Plenty of torque and hp . But not so radical that drive ability suffers. Im running afr 185s , a comp 268 h cam . A Airgap intake , Sniper 2 efi and summit racing ceramic coated headers and msd ignition and distributor. Its a ton of fun to drive because the throttle response is so crisp and it just keeps pulling hard from just off idle to 5500. Im leaving some hp on the table with my cam choice and the Sniper 2 efi . But i wanted good reliable driveability . Fun truck

    Getting ready to do this to the Windsor in my Bronco, .030 forged speed pro pistons with coated skirts, the same crank you used is $400 bidenomic bucks now, using 185cc AFR heads, F cam since it's free.98 and induction is a Edelbrock pro flo 4 sequential efi. Should be a torquey 393 around 450-460 hp

    Nice build. I did a sbf 427. Other than notching the block. I had to clearance the oil pump and the oil pan to clear.
    I had to gently rotate the crank after I put the cam in so I could put the chain on. Before i got it in time the crank would hit the cam. Had to go slow and easy.
    This build answered one of questions about using 302 pistons in a 351. I have heard of Cleveland pistons used in a 400.

Most everyone has gone coyote but that little motor there with a single 76 or 80mm turbo would be fast with a set of victor jr heads and tfs R victor5.8 intake thats whats on my 383 windsor with stage3 Vjr. heads im switching to a PA C4 with brake instead of gear jamming

    King bearing is cheap but its a good good bearing .. i have a set in a 1976 460 that i have in my 77 f100 swb … the motor has a stock bottom end cam intake and headders on a 175 shot of nitrous .. its backed by a Zf5 5 soeed transmission … i have abused the motor ive missed gears on nitrous ive seen m tach come from above 7000 rpms when i mised a gear .. ive done burn outs ive gave the ole truck a hard time ..(a really hard time !!!) and the bottom end is just as healthy as the day i first got done with it and fired it up … so dont think since they are cheap they are cheap made ive had my 460 together for almost 4 years so far !!!

    Pretty cool build. I have stock length 351w Eagle h beams and a 351w roller block. If I buy a similar crank and +.030 floating pin 302 pistons will that work or would I be much better with a 408 and all new parts? I need a crank anyway so wasn’t sure if buying new pistons would be worth while
