Another informative video Drew, thanks. I was going to ask you about the Liquimoly Diesel Purge Plus but I can see you've already answered this query. I have recently added the Flushing Oil Concentrate from Cost Effective Maintenance in Brisbane directly to the tank of my ML350. This seems to have worked quite well.

On my 2010 W164 ML 280 there isn't a five pin connector on the fuel filter??? Is this because it's a European model?

Hi Mate, my service book for my vehicle (2011) shows this as every 24 Months/50,000 kms. These modern Common Rail Turbo Diesels are more sensitive to clean fuel, so it’s certainly something that I would not skip/delay at all! I trust this is helpful? Cheers Drew

thanks for the video. Im planning to do the Liqui Moly diesel injector purge, do you think I can take the inline and outlet hoses from the filter and dip them in a far with the Purge liquid, to get the most concetrate cleaning of the injectors? or will it fail to start due to low pressure?

Hi Mate, I think you won't get the pressure that drives from the fuel pump and thus you will probably lose prime. I personally would not do what you are suggesting. Cheers Drew

@@DrewFixIt okay mate cheers. I've seen others doing that with other engines but not sure about om642

@@tehdreamer Yeah, I've seen others do it on other engines too, just not sure it's worth the risk to be honest. How many km's/miles has your vehicle done? Mine has done 135,000 kms and I've only ever put the diesel injector clean in the tank and my car is going as good as ever (I've owned since 68,000 kms). Cheers Drew

@@DrewFixIt mine is 64k miles, cls 320 CDI, but same engine really. You think it would damage the engine? Maybe I can take fuel filter out and fill it up with liqui moly then put it back in. I had a really bad stuck injector and it was knocking and smoking pure black. Then it suddenly fixed itself. I'm sure it will come back so I want to clean the system. Cheers mate. will give it a go maybe

@@tehdreamer Hi Mate, if you do this I suspect that much of it will get pumped back to the tank on the return line anyway when the fuel pump primes the system. Me personally I would still just add diesel fuel treatment to the tank and do it a few times in a row. Cheers Drew

1.at 1:30 when you’re holding the fuel filter, I couldn’t see the current filter you compared it with, where is it?
2.If the fuel filter I need come with a water separator?
3.are all the water separators identical or theres few of them also?

Hi Mate, at 1:30 in the video the old one is still installed in the engine. If you look to the right of the new filter you can see the old filter (in the engine) and you can see that it is the same it has the same fuel lines and electric plug. The point is to check it’s the same prior to removing the old filter. Cheers Drew
