Mr. Batson, I built this model car in 1969 ! (I'm 66) This was, and still is my FAVORITE, the only one I remember building out of so many at that time. It was 6th grade and our new 6th grade teacher Mr. Simpson, was into hot rods. Down the street from the rural Catholic school I went to, every week, a couple of brave classmates would collect our money and escape through the woods, run down to the Mom + Pop Hobby store at the corner quarter mile away, buy as many as 8-10 boxes and glues, and paint's, and run back before lunch recess was over. I volunteered to make that run a few times. Getting caught by the nun's was deadly in 1969. They would take the entire shipment, never to be seen again. But, back to the Phone Booth Hot Rod. Was just doing a google search and found this. So glad other's can see what a great build and oddity this Model was. Thank's !.. Memories...ahhh
Thank you my friend!! I have awesome memories of this kit as well. I also built it back in 69 or 70. I remember cutting grass, raking leaves and collecting drink bottles all to get money for models and paints at our local five and dime. Great memories indeed!! Always loved this car for some reason. Look forward to getting it done and on the shelf!!
Thanks again!
Btw, I’ll have a progress update up sometime tomorrow!
Looking forward to seeing updates and the final on it. Your attention to detail is going to make this a great one.

Amanda said hey! lol
Nice start to the kit. Everything in the box could have been chrome plated. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Michael!! Yeah, you’re right!! Lol
Awesome kit, looks like a fun build!
Thanks Ron!! Lots to clean up but I’m having fun!
Nice kit, looks like fun!!
Thank you my friend!!
Nice 😎
Thank you buddy!!
Mark, What I do for warpages is to clamp the part to a piece of wood get it straight and than put it in my food dehydrator for a couple of hours. Take it out and let it cool before removing the clamps. I'd just replace that glass with evergreen. Good luck with the build. I never had that kit.
Thank you very much brother!! Appreciate it!
looks like a fun build Mark 😃
Thank you Jim!! So far it is!
Very cool Mark ❤😊
Thanks brother!!
Hi Mark, I really dig the Phone Booth show rod. It looks like the valve covers you are planning on using are from a 426 Hemi. I believe that the actual car is the earlier Hemi with the distributor in the rear. Either way, I'm looking forward to this build. Thank you very much for sharing your work!
Thank you very much my friend!! You’re correct about the valve covers. I thought, as a show rod goes, they may not be 100% correct but they’re better than the kit covers. LOL
Thanks again brother!!
Looks like fun, Mark! I just got a can of the Revell "Chrom". I can't wait to give it a try!
Many thanks buddy!! You are going to love that chrome! GREAT stuff!!
Cool ole kit
Thanks brother!! I agree!!
Had that kit back in '68. Never built it. Brother never had respect for other peoples property. Saw the real car at a show, neat show car. Looking at how bad the tire burn is, I don't think I would try to salvage it just replace it. The planned mods would look good. Love to see the finished build.
Thank you very much brother!! I agree about the window. I think it will be easier to just replace it. Appreciate you watching!
Have a great week!!
@@MarkBatsonHobbydude007 Appreciate your work. Gives me some ideas. Cutting away that tire burn area, obviously leaves some good clear plastic for other projects. I've got a '40 sedan build I'm working on, fabricated the entire exhaust system on the flathead. Experimenting with some very fine copper wire to wire the ignition. This wire comes out of old radios, fans, and miscellaneous dead electronic items. I am a scrounger. This is an essentially a stock kit flathead. Modified the intake manifold to Accept dual carbs.
Very cool! Love those Flatheads! I am a scrounger myself! lol
Ordinarily, I'm not interested in building models of this sort of odd, fictional vehicle, but if they were still making this kit, I'd maybe get one. Interesting review.
Thank you my friend! It’s not my usual genre, but I built this one back in the 60s. Great memories!
Glad to see it again! Thanks again!
Being an MPC kit it needs a lot of clean up but it's really looking good now, nice work on the seams and fitment. I would use the stool in a diiorama an make one that looks like the original post stool.
Thanks brother!! Yes sir, lots of flash and a few fit issues but still a fun old show rod. I’m actually thinking about changing out the stool but still not sure quite yet. Have a great week!!
Man, you inspire me to build my original from 66 Color Me Gone Charger and Charlie Allen Dart funny cars with this video
Awesome brother!! Have fun! Part 2 on this one will be up tomorrow!
Have a great weekend!!
Very KkOoL I just seen your entry to the Saturday night short group build. i’ve been on TH-cam over a month now. I’m seeing a lot of great builds. you have some awesome builds I just subscribed to your channel. 🎉
Thank you very much my friend!! Appreciate it! Welcome to the community!! Have fun!!
Hey Mark, gee I hope you keep doing these kinds of videos? Cause SERIOUSLY they're cool,
inspiring, fun, and insightful. SO appreciate it brother! And Mark, I have a few questions about
a Petty build I'm about to start in September. If you have about five minutes in the next few weeks,
can you give me a call? Thanks buddy, see ya in the next video! 👍
Many thanks brother!! Appreciate the support and feedback!
Glad to help as I can on the Petty car. Have an awesome week buddy!!
Superman drives one of those.
Thanks James!! LOL yes sir!! I actually thought about printing a Superman costume on a hanger to put inside. Haha!
I wonder what kit they modified to make this kit-?/I had it when it first came out-I thought the kit was junk
Thanks buddy!! I agree, not the greatest molding by far but a unique show rod!
Have a great weekend!!
Was this the first vehicle with a "car phone"?
Thanks buddy!! LOL, I think it was!
