You’re the man, Drew! I think you made the right choice. I can totally relate to your existential crossroad. I want to enjoy this life and the next and be as “free” as possible. That leads to hard and nuanced decisions. It’s not simply, “what makes me the most money?” “What gains me the most followers?” So on and so on. One question I ask a lot is, “Will this lead to the most liberty? Or will it enslave me in some sense?” We’re all slaves to something or someone. Choose wisely who and what you serve. It’s not the easy path, but it’s definitely the happier one. You’ll have to work harder for your money, but you’ll sleep better at night.

At last someone talking sense.. you have a lot more fun learning to shoot budget rifles . I often go to my local range with my budget rifles and I get just as good results as other shooters with electronic rifles . But feel more accomplished when I'm getting the same results . It probably takes me a bit longer to get into my stride but when I do I really enjoy it ... keep up the good work

And the relationship of England and Scotland is like husband and wife, the only problem is deciding which is which. As for our relationship between the UK and USA... that's a whole different gig. With doing my own TH-cam gig for over 15 years. I totally understand what your saying. We constantly walk that fine line of creative edge or burn out. I’ve been guilty of that a few times on my channel. I myself have had to reflect and think what made me happy and inspired me to create content. One has to find their voice and march to the beat of their own drum. You have a unique gift of communicating to people and your just one viral video away from following whatever your dreams may be. The hard part for us is allowing our unique personalities to shine. While dealing with the pressures of life.

I've marched to the beat of my own drum since I was born. Wore out the snare a time or two, but the drum is still beating! You have to stay true to yourself or else the passion will go right out the window. It's happened to me in other areas of interest in the past like my band, film school, etc. Once they take control and you're just a puppet, well that's exactly what you feel like, a puppet. I am definitely done living life that way. So now, what you see is what you get. Plain and simple. So I think you are spot on with your decision my brother. 🍻

I think You probably made the best decision , being the independent type myself I totally understand Your reticence to relinquish even 1% control of Your channel , the folk that offered you the deal still have the option to offer the loan of an occasional top end rifle for testing with no strings attached so you could decide if you felt it deserved a revue or even if you just felt like doing that revue . Of course the title of Your show says it all , of course! it has never been & never will be about becoming financially wealthy , simply at peace , content & safe, sufficiently fed and stimulated . The elements required to reach this state for each individual are fundamentally the same but equally unique to each of us . Sustenance shelter companionship security health those are most of the prime requisites for every individual , everything else is simply a matter of personal preference & desire , all of these are balanced by something few even consider ( many shooters are just one of several exceptions to this trait) which is of course Self Control . Meditation has many strange effect's , it calms the mind and steady our breathing allowing the shooter to relax at that moment when others might experience a rapid increase in heart rate and breathlessness simply from the adrenaline caused by the tension of the moment . What a strange but incredible weird & fickle animal each & everyone of us is . Humanity - All the Same ! Just Different ! . Shoot Straight Stay Safe & Stay Well.

The biggest reason i like your channel is your attitude. You do what makes you happy, which is shooting and bodging about with guns. It's the reason i got back into shooting and exactly the sort of videos i seek out on TH-cam. I still have the pistol and B2 carbine i had when i stopped shooting 20 years ago, they still work and I've finally got 2 cheap new ones (springer and PCP). Love fettling around with them and getting better at shooting in any condition like you said. If you do go on Patreon i will likely be subscribing for your vids. Keep up the good work

I have to say that I do watch and look, at the more expensive rifles on the market, but, being on a very very limited budget, by which I mean zero just a very small pension from the NHS..I love the fact that I came across your channel, someone who collects, shoots and is enthusiastic shall we say, about budget spring guns. Mate, just keep doing what you’re doing. If I may, I think there is no need for an existential analysis. Whatever you put out there comes across as pure inspiring poetry. For most of us at least. I always feel the need to actually sit down amid a quiet, undisturbed environment to watch (or fully absorb) your content. Yours are not videos. They are short cinematic experiences, filled with wisdom. I hope I made some sense here. Just got back from a devastating reporting trip in devastated Mississippi - my mind is not very straight yet. I believe something which the world is missing is contentment and I think that is what you want from your channel being able to cover your costs and being able to do what you love, shooting, filming and editing oh and chatting to the rest of us content people. One at the top of my list - for no good reason I can think of - is an Air Arms HiPower. I found one for sale at 250 but it was too far for me to go get it. I'm interested in Theobens too...
When I found your channel it was and is a breath of fresh air,what I would call real world and realistic for a lot of us. I have more enjoyment from my cheap air rifles especially my daisy red rider. You said it takes time to produce videos for this channel which is appreciated. Have you considered starting a second channel so you can carry out reviews and generate revenue?. Even thoe I can't run out(more like hobble) and buy the latest and greatest I would still enjoy hearing your opinion on various air rifles. Food for thought. All the very best.👍

Maybe it's my relatively light wallet but I consider your Pro Sport to be expensive as I do myTX-200HC, TX-200 MK3 and HW97K! I would like an Air Arms 510 but even that seems too expensive! I like your backyard shooting for relaxation and survival scenarios because that's all I'm doing! I also love Benjamin Marauders, especially the SAM semi-auto but they're affordable and simple!
Indeed, I count the Pro Sport to be an expensive rifle - and the only reason you see one in my hands is because I bought it used at half price. I just got lucky, no way I could've got my hands on one otherwise - and man I appreciate this gun!

You are a good man, I'm impressed with your candid way, I'm of the same age bracket as you and I have similar interests, guitars and guns and chicks and hopefully will get my leg over a dirt bike soon, i live in a tiny village in Northern Spain up in the mountains, every Thursday and Sunday are hunting days, it's great, guys in 4x4s towing trailers with dogs go after wild pigs, they very good at having a good time, there isn't much in the way law up here and zero crime, we all look out for each other, i have a kind range in the back yard where me and the misses practise with our break barrels, just good fun, no one cares, it's freedom, thanks mate, keep doing what you are doing, 👍👍👍👍
Personally I'm glad that's the direction you want to take the channel. Your friend is right in what she said about something you love, becoming a chore. I've watched various Uploaders on youtube lose their love for what they're doing, unboxing vids, having to be on film rather than just narrating. Once they're established, U.T then start to demonetise their channel if they don't play ball. I truly respect your 'artistic' integrity and your personal moral compass.... Like yourself, Im actually only really interested in Springers as these days I only shoot tin chickens and Paper. Shooting a springer is one of the only ways I can get focused in the moment - get into the zone - and be surrounded by some great guys at my local Club. So i get out my budget airguns and start to shoot them then start to think i dont need one my budget springers give me loads of enjoyment and puts me in a zen state as you say. Hello Drew, In case you would still want to go back to construction some time later, I hope the work on this channel will help you preparing for that. One theme for a next video could be: The Bug Out Air Rifle. I.e.: Light, rather short, damn rugged (and with a synthetic stock), full power, accurate enough and with a ditto scope. Or possibly with a reflex sight.... Small question: Do your rings hinder shooting and do you remove them in advance ? Bugging out calls for clothing and equipment not prone to getting entangled..... Keep on going, good man !
Hey Hendrick my friend, no I don't even notice the rings. They never come off and I've built callouses on my hands working with pick axes and shovels. However, the rings really tear up a rifle stock over time, but I'm not the type to worry how my rifles look - just how they function. Thank you for the ideas brother - all gratefully received! Drew

The way your channel is now with the advice you're giving, I feel like you're getting a lot of real shooters and hunters who just love shooting and hunting, but if you were to start doing new gun reviews, your viewer base will shift to being more consumer type folks, which is not only opposite of a good shooter because usually these people buy shit trying to fix a problem that should be fixed with practice! ...but it would probably turn your comment section into a shit show of bad attitudes! I think your doing a fantastic job and the biggest pull for me was your mindfulness in a dominant world I'm new to shooting a have a weihrauch hw100 th that I'm still paying for and a Remington sabre springer that I love thanks to your guidance on spring gun but the point I'm trying to make is mindfulness. my other hobby is bonsai trees for the exact reason your channel is so important to me mindfulness only thinking about the task in hand great job keep up the fantastic work
There are more people who love air guns who can't afford the high-end stuff. I'm glad you are here to tell them that they don't need to be broke to be effective. A Chinese springer can shoot just fine. It's cool to shoot over 200 yards, It's really cool, but I have as much fun with a springer at 50. You will have more money for pellets. High end guns are a lot more trouble too, so keep that in mind.
I voted on the poll to review both budget and expensive airguns to get your take on how they all compare. But given this explanation on your channel direction, I'm only more appreciative to have found a channel that focuses on good shooting and the joy it brings. In the last 15yrs I have shot at many clubs , been on club committee and owned dozens of rifles and pistols, I now own the AA Prosport in .177 and its wonderful, however I want to get the AA S400 classic as I had one before and it was tremendous second hand they are available at about £350 not bad. Welldone with your decision , like the lady said , you have to be true to yourself.Goodluck.

Totally get where you're coming from. What comes across in your channel is that it's very real world and will speak to a lot of us out here. We all want to "become one with the gun" and most of us don't have big bucks to invest in our hobby/passion. At last someone talking sense.. you have a lot more fun learning to shoot budget rifles . I often go to my local range with my budget rifles and I get just as good results as other shooters with electronic rifles . But feel more accomplished when I'm getting the same results . It probably takes me a bit longer to get into my stride but when I do I really enjoy it ... keep up the good work

With doing my own TH-cam gig for over 15 years. I totally understand what your saying. We constantly walk that fine line of creative edge or burn out. I’ve been guilty of that a few times on my channel. I myself have had to reflect and think what made me happy and inspired me to create content. One has to find their voice and march to the beat of their own drum. You have a unique gift of communicating to people and your just one viral video away from following whatever your dreams may be. The hard part for us is allowing our unique personalities to shine. While dealing with the pressures of life.

I've marched to the beat of my own drum since I was born. Wore out the snare a time or two, but the drum is still beating!
You have to stay true to yourself or else the passion will go right out the window. It's happened to me in other areas of interest in the past like my band, film school, etc. Once they take control and you're just a puppet, well that's exactly what you feel like, a puppet.

I think You probably made the best decision , being the independent type myself I totally understand Your reticence to relinquish even 1% control of Your channel , the folk that offered you the deal still have the option to offer the loan of an occasional top end rifle for testing with no strings attached so you could decide if you felt it deserved a revue or even if you just felt like doing that revue . Of course the title of Your show says it all , of course! it has never been & never will be about becoming financially wealthy , simply at peace , content & safe, sufficiently fed and stimulated . The elements required to reach this state for each individual are fundamentally the same but equally unique to each of us . Sustenance shelter companionship security health those are most of the prime requisites for every individual , everything else is simply a matter of personal preference & desire , all of these are balanced by something few even consider ( many shooters are just one of several exceptions to this trait) which is of course Self Control . Meditation has many strange effect's , it calms the mind and steady our breathing allowing the shooter to relax at that moment when others might experience a rapid increase in heart rate and breathlessness simply from the adrenaline caused by the tension of the moment . What a strange but incredible weird & fickle animal each & everyone of us is . Humanity - All the Same ! Just Different ! . Shoot Straight Stay Safe & Stay Well.

The biggest reason i like your channel is your attitude. You do what makes you happy, which is shooting and bodging about with guns. It's the reason i got back into shooting and exactly the sort of videos i seek out on TH-cam. I still have the pistol and B2 carbine i had when i stopped shooting 20 years ago, they still work and I've finally got 2 cheap new ones (springer and PCP). Love fettling around with them and getting better at shooting in any condition like you said. If you do go on Patreon i will likely be subscribing for your vids. Keep up the good work

When I found your channel it was and is a breath of fresh air,what I would call real world and realistic for a lot of us. I have more enjoyment from my cheap air rifles especially my daisy red rider.
You said it takes time to produce videos for this channel which is appreciated. Have you considered starting a second channel so you can carry out reviews and generate revenue?. Even thoe I can't run out(more like hobble) and buy the latest and greatest I would still enjoy hearing your opinion on various air rifles.

Maybe it's my relatively light wallet but I consider your Pro Sport to be expensive as I do myTX-200HC, TX-200 MK3 and HW97K! I would like an Air Arms 510 but even that seems too expensive! I like your backyard shooting for relaxation and survival scenarios because that's all I'm doing! I also love Benjamin Marauders, especially the SAM semi-auto but they're affordable and simple!
Indeed, I count the Pro Sport to be an expensive rifle - and the only reason you see one in my hands is because I bought it used at half price. I just got lucky, no way I could've got my hands on one otherwise - and man I appreciate this gun!

You are a good man, I'm impressed with your candid way, I'm of the same age bracket as you and I have similar interests, guitars and guns and chicks and hopefully will get my leg over a dirt bike soon, i live in a tiny village in Northern Spain up in the mountains, every Thursday and Sunday are hunting days, it's great, guys in 4x4s towing trailers with dogs go after wild pigs, they very good at having a good time, there isn't much in the way law up here and zero crime, we all look out for each other, i have a kind range in the back yard where me and the misses practise with our break barrels, just good fun, no one cares, it's freedom, thanks mate, keep doing what you are doing, 👍👍👍👍

Personally I'm glad that's the direction you want to take the channel. Your friend is right in what she said about something you love, becoming a chore. I've watched various Uploaders on youtube lose their love for what they're doing, unboxing vids, having to be on film rather than just narrating. Once they're established, U.T then start to demonetise their channel if they don't play ball.

Hello Drew, In case you would still want to go back to construction some time later, I hope the work on this channel will help you preparing for that.
One theme for a next video could be: The Bug Out Air Rifle. I.e.: Light, rather short, damn rugged (and with a synthetic stock), full power, accurate enough and with a ditto scope. Or possibly with a reflex sight....
Small question: Do your rings hinder shooting and do you remove them in advance ? Bugging out calls for clothing and equipment not prone to getting entangled.....

Hey Hendrick my friend, no I don't even notice the rings. They never come off and I've built callouses on my hands working with pick axes and shovels.
However, the rings really tear up a rifle stock over time, but I'm not the type to worry how my rifles look - just how they function.

The way your channel is now with the advice you're giving, I feel like you're getting a lot of real shooters and hunters who just love shooting and hunting, but if you were to start doing new gun reviews, your viewer base will shift to being more consumer type folks, which is not only opposite of a good shooter because usually these people buy shit trying to fix a problem that should be fixed with practice! ...but it would probably turn your comment section into a shit show of bad attitudes! I think your doing a fantastic job and the biggest pull for me was your mindfulness in a dominant world I'm new to shooting a have a weihrauch hw100 th that I'm still paying for and a Remington sabre springer that I love thanks to your guidance on spring gun but the point I'm trying to make is mindfulness. my other hobby is bonsai trees for the exact reason your channel is so important to me mindfulness only thinking about the task in hand great job keep up the fantastic work

There are more people who love air guns who can't afford the high-end stuff. I'm glad you are here to tell them that they don't need to be broke to be effective. A Chinese springer can shoot just fine. It's cool to shoot over 200 yards, It's really cool, but I have as much fun with a springer at 50. You will have more money for pellets. High end guns are a lot more trouble too, so keep that in mind.

In the last 15yrs I have shot at many clubs , been on club committee and owned dozens of rifles and pistols, I now own the AA Prosport in .177 and its wonderful, however I want to get the AA S400 classic as I had one before and it was tremendous second hand they are available at about £350 not bad. Welldone with your decision , like the lady said , you have to be true to yourself.Goodluck.

@@PlanetDrewdog I've gone and done it mate , just purchased AA S400 carbine 2yrs old of AirgunBBS for £360 absolutely buzzing , though I have a 5Hr round trip to pick it up.

Totally get where you're coming from. What comes across in your channel is that it's very real world and will speak to a lot of us out here. We all want to "become one with the gun" and most of us don't have big bucks to invest in our hobby/passion. So seeing someone make it work at the modest end of the market and advise on how to achieve that yourself is pure gold. Thanks so much for the time and effort you put into it. 👍

@@PlanetDrewdog definitely agree with that springers as the first air rifle I used about 23 yrs ago was the good old B2 but the went the pcp route but it’s time for some old school fun as I have my high end pcp 🤙🏻
