  • Could the Isuzu D-Max 2023 LS-U double cab chassis ute be the best starting point for your 4x4 ute build? Choosing your tray setup is just the start!
In this video, CarsGuide's Adventure Editor, Marcus Craft, gives you his take on the 2023 Isuzu D-Max LS-U dual cab ute - but unlike most other examples of the impressive D-Max, this one is a cab-chassis version, meaning you'll need to choose a tray to suit your usage.
That opens up endless opportunities for buyers who want to build their pick-up truck for work and play, with all sorts of toolbox setups to consider for a table-top ute like this.
Crafty also takes the LS-U cab chassis ute off-road to test out its 4WD capability, and considers the value for money on offer, safety tech, interior finishes, and fuel use in his detailed review of the chassis cab Isuzu Ute.
Does it make sense as an alternative to buying a high-spec ute just to remove the tub? And should you look at this D-Max over a Toyota HiLux, Ford Ranger, Mitsubishi Triton or Nissan Navara?

They are a truck that is for sure but I love mine.
If you don't try to go fast it will tow very well in its 2000-2500rpm power band.

How many km’s has yours done? Mine has done 145,000km, 5 years old and cost me $19,000 in repairs not covered under warranty. Cracked inner guards, had to get new DPF

180k . The 2013 has no dpf that's why I brought that year.

@@grego4835 if you can’t fit a heavier bullbar Isuzu don’t mention it. Also I’ve seen two engineer reports and the bullbars have nothing to do with metal fatigue. Otherwise every other car would have the same issues.

Own 2011 dmx 120k serviced every 5 to 6 k oilchange filter. 43 miles per gallon at 80 k's around country roads. tested the latest 1.9 auto dmax. Sorry will keep my 2011 dmax. Quite frankly the Mahindra 4x4 and sanggyong Musso I also test drove were better to drive and more appealing than the latest DMax.

Sanggyong is understandable, but Mahindra more appealing than dmax?

Crazy not to buy the new Ranger V6 over this if price isn't an issue. Ford are going to sell a LOT of new Ranger V6!

      @devilsadvocate2548 ปีที่แล้ว +2

I guess it depends on how long you want to keep it for. If price isn't an issue then I suppose it's perfectly fine to throw money around at pick the Ranger and replace when necessary/warranty runs out! 😉

Ranger V6 diesel is a 119K with the greenies Ute tax on it,they don't want us in diesels in NZL.

A$50k-$70k platform? What happened to "buying" a 4WD: like the FJ40 Landcruiser. Purchase culture has killed everything.

Class action investigation into previous generation due to lack of customer support and major failures, structurally and internally. Cracked inner guards, DPF failures, broken air conditioning, consistent turbo failures… I’m waiting for my VCAT hearing. Check out John Cadogan’s channel on Isuzu Ute Australia

    140kw/450Nm…….not enough!!!
    2019 Colorado has 147kw/500Nm
    New Ranger V6 has 184kw/600Nm
For virtually the same price you can get the Ranger XLT V6 cab chassis. No brainer…..👍

Tow with a Colorado and then a dmax. The dmax out performs it's " more kw" rival.
I was surprised to learn this.
