    Great work. Looks really nice with the black pick-guard and slanted neck pickup.

    Great job man! It's never-ending. Really dig the black pick guard. Thanks for giving your honest opinion on the "little" to no tone difference by direct mounting the humbucker. Good to know. Till next time. Cheers.

    A word: If you paint the backside of the clear guard before doing the shielding tape you can get some neat looks. I know you went with solid black, but black with a thick clear layer also can look slick.

    There are so many changes to this that I'm tempted to build my own using Warmoth. I ran the numbers. The cost is about the same, probably slightly lower with Warmoth, and their necks have many options, including Gibson scale and stainless frets, if you should so desire.

    • @brutesmagootes3996

      I would do a Warmoth as well if I knew how their necks feel. This neck on the Henrik is absolutely perfect (for me).

    I just got mine delivered today, awesome guitar out of the box, only noticed 2 issues, frets were poorly polished but nicely leveled and crowned, i polished them and their beautiful!. 2nd issue is the JB pickup has a buzz sound like a bad ground, the neck pickup is fine and very quiet. Probably change out the bridge pickup or figure out the noise from it.
    Very nice work on your guitar brotha!!!

    Excellent work Bro…looks killer…and I agree with the direct mount not making a difference in tone…after all the pickup is just a microphone…most of that stuff is just marketing B.S….rock on my man👍

  • @TheDarkmore

    Best mod on this guitar is that slated neckheel! I once cut out a pickguard from a multi laminated wood plate and that reduced the feedback the pickups had when mounted on the pickguard (wood being softer than plastic). I tend to change frets only after I wear the old ones out, used stainless steel once but my fretjob got especially uneven had to sand down, crown for ages and ended up probably from XL jumbo to just medium jumbo size XD

    • @brutesmagootes3996
      @brutesmagootes3996  ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a good tip on the wood pickguard. I bet it looked badass! And yeah, SS frets are a PITA 🤣

      @brutesmagootes3996  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, that would look cool too! I'm pretty happy with the black, the only thing I don't like about it is that it's shiny, so I might take like 2000 grit or something and knock the shine off of it.

  • @wizaxed
    @wizaxed ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Wow, this is a killer axe!! The mods you did really upgraded this thing to epic status! I love reverse headstock and S-H configuration. I have an Ibanez RG565 and a Chapman ML3 Bea that both have those features. As soon as I saw this model, I fell in love and am now trying to figure a way to sell of some of my other guitars to fund this one. Question: What are the two black "knobs" in the pickup cavity? Thanks for sharing your awesome guitar!!

    • @wizaxed
      @wizaxed ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@brutesmagootes3996 At 11:54 they are shown. "knobs" probably isn't the best term for them...they are the round black things in the cavity. My Chapman is a great guitar. I got one of the first runs with the padauk neck. The neck is pretty chonky...but feels nice. I gutted the electronics and replaced with Switchcraft and CTS...installed a lil '59 in the neck and JB in the bridge. It is a great rocker! But, that relic job and a standard strat style body has me GAS'ing bad!!!

    • @brutesmagootes3996
      @brutesmagootes3996  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That Chapman sounds badass! I see what your looking at now. Those are the thumb screws for the tremol-no that lock it into a fixed bridge. When I’m not using them, I screw them into the wood so they don’t get lost.

    • @brutesmagootes3996
      @brutesmagootes3996  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! I ended up at 8.3mm on the bridge and 6.6mm for the neck, measured off of the pickguard. BUT, that's just for my setup and how I like my sound. That will likely be different if you have different pickups, pole screw heights, and how close you like your pickups to the strings as far as tone.

    I discovered that about direct mounting as well, no tone difference, hopefully people will discover that too. Now does it stop feedback? There is less feedback on direct mount pickups, as long as they are potted.

    The direct mount humbucker to me makes a difference but not in tone. It changes the liveliness and percussion of the guitar. I can hear my pick attack and hear when I tap the guitar body through the amp way more with the direct mounts. The EQ isn’t really much of a change unless you have a crazy discerning ear. If there’s a difference it would be increased presence (high end).

    If your not a Guitar Tech you should be. Your skill is pretty outstanding. I’m stressing out on just changing out the JB on my Danhenge lol. But I’m going to because that pickup is keeping me from enjoying the guitar. That JB is way too compressed sounds like a cocked wah.
