Don't follow this guys' method. The first step is disconnect the battery ground terminal. He pulls the nut off the ground terminal of the battery module with the vehicle battery still connected to ground the hitch module. The directions are very specific on where the module and wiring needs to be placed. The module gets zip tied between the two existing harnesses and the rest of the new wiring gets bundled and zip tied as well. Then center everything to prevent the bin from rubbing on them. The 7 pin harness gets zip tied in three places, one to the harness behind the bumper and 2 places on the hitch plate that has two large holes. He just used one hole. Not a biggie but not according to the directions. I just did this today.
my installation kit came with a separate harness, online it says its for the electronic brakes to the trailer, is that necessary for this vehicle or is this harness for a different model/year

Its for wiring in a brake controller. If the your trailer does not have brakes it won't be needed.
Do you know if the wiring is possible in the Hybrid model? It has batteries in there...
I haven't done a hitch on one so i don't know yet.
