Another 2 big reasons to get G4 - it has HGiG that the Sony does not. Makes a huge difference for gaming in HDR. And It has DV that the Samsung does not (not sure why FOMO said the A95L also doesnt have DV?) - But you can clearly see the A95L was super dim in the snowy mountains in HDR10 compared to G4's DV image. I said Sony cinema mode specifically darkens the edges to brighten the center more. Not other TVs or modes. The dark corner on the S95D is probably a uniformity issue on that panel or something else.

You stopped the FOMO for me. I picked up a 77”S95 C at the end of the year for 2.1K and change. I use it in a reasonably dark room. I think I made the right call. There’s a couple of network SDR shows where the motion is a bit quirky but the S95C seems to excel at everything else.
I really wanna like (and buy) the LG, but I just pulled the trigger on the A95L. I don't want to have to deal with mounting (77" or bust) + the remote on the LG is a joke.

The A95L is an awesome TV, but if the G4 is that close it will be interesting.
@@randallsmith2521 it was just revealed yesterday that there may be a significant design flaw in the G4. Users are reporting that when watching letterboxed video on the G4 in a dark room light is being reflected off of the metal bezel around the screen from the small lip of the bezel that overhangs the screen. This is causing a visible outline to appear around the display and distracting viewers from the movie when watched in a dark room. Evidently this occurs at any brightness setting above about the 50% level. If this is the case, it may well be that LG only did their product testing on the G4 in well-lit rooms, not in very dark rooms like the ones most customers prefer to watch their movies in.
Just watched this video. The things you said about the G4 is the main reason I've decided that I'm getting one this year. I totally like what I am seeing from this TV.😊

The way you described the whites vs. the colors on the LG G4 kind of sounds like a non-quantum-dot mini-LED--bright whites, deep blacks, but weaker colors. I wouldn't spend that much money for weaker colors, a behavior associated with LCD technology. If I could afford an OLED, I would have to go with one of the QD-OLEDs with rich colors and deep blacks. For me, my priorities are (1) color richness which doesn't compromise color accuracy, (2) brightness, and (3) black levels which don't compromise shadow detail. I'd imagine you can get some good QLED mini-LEDs with the color richness of the S95D AND the bright whites of the G4 for a lower price. Make sense?

The S95D solves the biggest problem I have when watching TV, which is reflections from ambient lighting. A scene goes dark, and I see my walls being reflected on the TV, even in low lighting.
Saw the S95D at bestbuy the other day. The one thing that really stood out was when all the TVs went to black, the S95D looked different then all the other TV's. Not a better or worse thing, just different. Bestbuy has bad store lighting, and all the TVs are in Vivid mode. I wanted the S95D for a while and I could get used to it, but I prefer glossy screens. I don't think this is a better or worse issue, it's just a preference issue. There is no right answer. The S95D looked excellent just like all the other OLED's, in a way it looked more cinematic, more like a movie theater, as a movie screen is not glossy.
You have to give LG a lot of credit here for their use of AI with that Cinematic Motion feature. To be able to dynamically adjust their motion handling settings in real time based on the motion on-screen is a VERY good use of AI tech. Hopefully other TV brands will soon start to use AI to do the exact same thing. Smart!
When you're watching hockey on the G4, did you have to disable autodimming in the service menu to keep the brightness at that level that impressed you?
I also notice slight differences in clarity, but very slight. Just replaced my 85” Samsung q950TS 8K QLED with the LG G4 83”. The trade off for OLED contrast and blacks is worth it for me. Also my old 8K has so much artefacts from upscaling that I can’t stand. Until Z3 is affordable, this G4 is the best option for me IMO.
Who knows , Samsung display scaling back a bit QD-OLED- maybe only on development front , and not production side - I'm sure they will continue as is, and do more Monitor sizes
So does the 77'' G4 actually come with a stand? Previously it was stated only the 65'' and below did, but I just saw another video that shows the 77'' with a stand. Does it come with a stand in all regions, or just outside of the US? Also, is this 20:38 supposed to be with the motion setting ON or is it OFF? Because you say that the G3 and G4 look similar with it set to on, but if this is supposed to be demonstrating on, they don't look remotely similar. The judder on the G3 is painfully obvious.
I am in the US. Ordered the 77”. No stand. This is what I was expecting from what I read online and watching other reviews. Only 55” and 65” models come with a stand.
I just got the g4 coming from the lg c8. I’ve noticed the g4 never brings up the Dolby vision message when I play DV. It only pops up as hdr or HLG. Did they just remove the message from the newer models or something? Seems weird.
How has the processing of low bitrate content images changed in G4 vs G3? Has the LG G4 come close to the Sony A95L, or is it still significantly lagging behind?
How can HDR compete with DV's dynamic scene by scene? Is it because dynamic tone mapping is on the HDR only TVs and DTM has gotten that good? Or because most content is 1000 nits mastered, it doesn't matter? Or maybe the scene in question doesnt need the dynamic meta data for that particular scene?
Most DV content isn't even really "DV". It's just HDR10 using the 'container' of DV. Hence why there is no real difference. There is only some movies that have proper scene by scene grading in DV that makes a difference. When that happen it can actually be noticeable and good looking. But sad part for DV is that it is barely 1 out of 20 DV movies that does proper DV. Think of DV on most TVs as just "Dolby vision tone mapping of HDR10". So a TV not using DV would then just do "TV tone mapping of HDR10". Hence it could actually look better. Because tone mapping can be really good on each TV. I am not explaining this perfectly. But the gist of it.
@Swecan76 makes sense and that was the other thought I was going to post but thought I was getting mixed up with P3 grading in a rec2020 "container". Similar to Dolby's Atmos product when it comes to audio, not true Atmos just an Atmos container. Thanks for clarifying that. I opted for the G4 55" which will be here tomorrow. Going to wait on the 83" to see if QDOLED brings larger sizes next year and/or what these rumored 4000 nits LG OLEDS bring. Makes you wonder if perhaps they are getting there with blue phosphors. Guess we'll know next CES!
@@jeremytrapp4394 I am leaning towards G4 as well. But I am first going to check out the new Sony MiniLED. I am not sure blue phosphor will be used next year. It has potential issues such as longevity. They might do smaller OLEDs first like phone screens. Because if burn in happens it would be more detrimental in cost with big screens. But who knows.
@Swecan76 My 55" G4 monitor replacement came yesterday. Shockingly not too big, may leave on stand instead of wall mount. First inpressions coming from a CX is that they really cleaned up streaming quality, especially low APL like Marco Polo episode 3 14:30 mark, torture scene. No flickering and super clean. HDR highlights in HGiG is incredible. For productivity, just leave in SDR and only the brightness needed and/or auto power sace is my thought.
I want impact! So I will wait for the U8N and see if I can pay less for that and if that doesn't pan out, I will wait for G4. Unfortunately the only way to get impact out of my s95b when watching Hdr movies and shows is using Contrast enhancer, which has a host of problems, and I heard that they removed any element of dynamic tone mapping on that tv, and I can tell. Highlights that should be bright and impactful just look dead and this is on dark scenes.
Great video! Thank you for all the work, this must have taken forever! Could you talk about the S95D's motion processing? I didn't hear anything about it.
Personally I'd want the Sony A95L 77", but it's mighty expensive. I'd definitely settle for the G4 over the S95D, the problem is the G4 VESA positioning on the back panel is too high up (unlike on Sony), meaning it'll push the TV too far down the wall to be accommodated. If it weren't for that, I'd get a G4. Definitely not getting a S95D.
S95D love it. With the anti glare test, i did not see any room lights in the screen of the G4...why not? Is its anti glare better then the 95D? Or was it because in the tv setup, both lg models were lower and sony and samsung were positioned higher? Ps...in many stores you also get 5 yr warranty for the s95d.
It was the positioning of the tv. The G4 and G3 had no lights on them. The A95L and S95D did. He does mention the G4 would have the same reflections as the A95L if it were I the same position.
Hang on FOMO @22.34 suggested that the G3 also has a Cinematic Movement setting? I'm guessing that this is not correct or is it? I may have misunderstood :)
Great video! I'm looking for the 65" LG's G4, but I need it this week and I can't find it in stock anywhere. Even your link that goes to LG direct estimates the delivery at April 24th. Does anyone have suggestions on where I can get the 65" G4 this week?
Since the A95L came to market so late in the year last year it is not expected that Sony will update or revise it for 2024. They likely will just let it carry over as a current model this year and update or replace it in 2025. We will know more on Wednesday though when they release their 2024 TV lineup. That's all being streamed live over the web here on TH-cam.
Money being no objection, it would be ideal for you guys run these comparisons along with a reference professional monitor. This way we may be able to better see what these TVs are trying to accomplish.
Fomo, you mentioned that you know how to dial in the settings on the A95L to be what the one click setting on the G4 does. Since I have an A95L, can you tell me what you do in the settings that I can apply on my A95L?
To me, the G4 and G3 definitely are whiter, and in some cases, a little bit more green/yellow, and I don’t particularly love that. On the other hand, I have a super Duper bright room and for this reason I would have been considering them- except for the fact that the only one of these TVs that supports spectrum streaming app is the Samsung… I saw the S 95D a few days ago at PC Richard and it kind of blew me away…
I use the s90c modded to a s95c for gaming. Either way, it is an amazing monitor regardless if it was in s90c mode (1000 nits) or s95c mode (1300 nits). The 144hz looks great on Horizon Forbidden West, the HDR pops, no weird verticle banding issues that I keep hearing about on WOLEDs. If I was getting a living room TV, I'd probably go WOLED, but for gaming on a 4090 system, the s90/s95 TVs have been nothing short of amazing and syncs perfectly with my PC.
@@Mcnooblet For sure, Dead Space Remake sitting 3 feet away from my 55 inch s95D is incredible. I was so distracted by how good it looked that I didn't notice the jump scares lol
I'm warming up to the S95D more and more. I might end up getting both the G4 and the S95D. S95D shadow detail looks better than the rest and those specular highlights are on another level. The G4 is the only 83 inch. Now I just have to decide which goes into the movie room and which goes into the living room.
Wrgb is always going to have that magenta tint issue no matter how bright the whites get , qd-Oleds are the next best until micro-led becomes affordable for the general mass , qd-oled can do bt2020 at 90% where as wrgb oled 68-70% so if you are gaming is sdr 🤩 studio are staring to grade movie in that color space Samsung seriously need to come out with a better chip to compete with Sony XR
Spot on with cinematic mode on the G4 - I bought the A80L 83 on the back of Brian’s recommendations - terrible motion ( in panning shots was absolute garbage”, and agree have two play with ALL the little clicks to get it to be right at the right level. It was painful having to change things all the time to get the sweet spot. Drove me insane, the SONY panel ended up being bad and went back because of heavy banding, got a refund and got the 83inch G4 for 1/4 of price off - I’m so looking forward to the “ONE CLICK” motion solution of the LG G4.
@ mmmm I think the A80L had a better picture overall, but far darker. There’s no way you could watch it in the day with sunlight - the G4 can power through that BUT if you turn it right up you lose depth of colour and picture quality - I’m still happy with the G4. Of note though is - I don’t know I feel like with recent updates the G4s motion has suffered
I ordered LG 77G3 for 2100€. The G4 is too expensive. Best price for the G4 €4000. For the little improvement. I took the G3 because I only do streaming.
This why I love my Panasonic MZ2000 over my A95L , Panasonic pushes there tvs harder than LG, they are the creator's of the heat heat sink , bright colors isn't important to me Panasonic who has superior processing when comes to movies and motion the is better than my A95L , also it doesn't dim down like my A95L when I am watching sports.
Bro ppl were not buying panasonic so they exited the market .they r just overpriced n in no way better than g3 or the qd oleds.. it's just the sound but who cares..u can get soundbars which sound way better
@Ren32 The Germany the shootout the MZ2000 came in second to the G3 , I own it best tv in my house better than my A95L and own both of them when . The MZ2000 is by far better when comes to sports also my A95L dims down significantly when I watch sports.
I like the S95D but the "anti glare" finish is too much of a wild card. We're so use to glare we've become accustomed to it, and I feel the level of frustration I potentially could have with the feature would have me regretting the purchase. It's sad they did added that and feel it's a bit of a bait and switch so to stand out in the store. When you bring it home the potential for disappointment will be high in real life scenarios. Unless it's in a dark room. Open box returns may be the way to go on this TV. Otherwise it's a nice TV for the price point. Still the 77" is 3,000 less with the S95D promotion than the A95L, and less than what you would pay for the S95C as of now in 🇨🇦.
It’s weird though isn’t it? If you were investing tv now with options of ant-reflection or reflection you would be unlikely to pick the mirror like surface for viewing. I think you’re right. It’s what people got used to. That doesn’t necessarily make it better though. If ant-reflection is able to get a foothold and improves so raised blacks are even less of a concern to tv fans it seems a no brainier.
Come on folks this video need more thumbs up it takes less than a second to like the video compared to the time these guys put into this which helps all of us when buying TVs. Thanks
Indeed, those that have already seen the prototype in person were absolutley blown away at what it could do. How crazy would it be to have a mini-LED LCD TV win "King of TV" in 2024? Man would that ever upset and anger a LOT of people if Sony were actually able to pull that off. Well, if there is one company on this planet with the engineering and design skills to make that happen, it's unquestionably Sony!
Off angle viewing for me is very important which is why I’m only considering Oled for now for my upgrade from a plasma. Going back and forth between the lg g4, Samsung s90d, and Sony a95l. But if that Sony mini led lives up to the hype and has good off axis viewing, I’ll add it to the list.

@@FenixPajarito 8k is going nowhere, too expensive, no content, not selling.
Great show,. I bought the Samsung S95D. Can you do a show on the best calibration for the best picture settings for the S95D?
What samsung s95D has for cinematic movement??
I think he said it’s about the same as the g4?
When will there be 83’ QD OLED?
Great comparison, what would be best oled to watch your video on TH-cam 4k/1080 on PC ?
65" G4 or 77" G3
What to pick ?
For sure 77 G3
Sony A95L 77” all day if I had the money
@@carlosr.2027 nope I need 4 hdmi 2.1 it has only 2 on the sony
When it finally gets down to 3k for the 77 I’ll be picking it up.
How has the processing of low bitrate content images changed in G4 vs G3? Has the LG G4 come close to the Sony A95L, or is it still significantly lagging behind?
I'm curious about the "cinematic motion" on the C4 ... it has last years "lesser" updated a9 processor though, compared to the a11 on the G4.
Cinematic motion = TruMotion OFF
How can HDR compete with DV's dynamic scene by scene?
What's with the white gloves do you do magic tricks
15 hours of TV 📺 watching in 24 hours ,, Daily ,,, OLED or QLED G4 or BRAVIA 7,9 or TCL QM8 ?
The G3 has Cinematic Movement. 👍
The G4 is cheaper than the Samsung right now. I did hear something about thermal throttling on the Samsung. I do like the Samsung cable box thing.
Great video! I'm looking for the 65" LG's G4, but I need it this week and I can't find it in stock anywhere. Even your link that goes to LG direct estimates the delivery at April 24th. Does anyone have suggestions on where I can get the 65" G4 this week?

On the g4 65 the reddish reflection color on the screen when turned off; is that normal?
yep, not a big deal - the issue is when it's turned on!
Hold you guys said (Amazon Prime-video) has better viewing as they change the matadata for Sony Tv's, make ya minds up
You said Sony is not releasing a QD-OLED this year, is that correct?
Since the A95L came to market so late in the year last year it is not expected that Sony will update or revise it for 2024. They likely will just let it carry over as a current model this year and update or replace it in 2025. We will know more on Wednesday though when they release their 2024 TV lineup. That's all being streamed live over the web here on TH-cam.
All these TVs are great . Other reason LG has 5 years of updates , so think HDR and colour mapping with improve , to get out niggles
It's going to be interesting to see if other companies follow suite there on both that extended warranty and extended OS update timeframe.
Money being no objection, it would be ideal for you guys run these comparisons along with a reference professional monitor. This way we may be able to better see what these TVs are trying to accomplish.
This video must have over 1.M likes it deserves it, thanks guys for the professional comparison
Is lip sync issue still present on a95L?
I like the s95d am watching li A95L wow I can just see my self watching films threw the day
Fomo, you mentioned that you know how to dial in the settings on the A95L to be what the one click setting on the G4 does. Since I have an A95L, can you tell me what you do in the settings that I can apply on my A95L?
The G4's new cinematic motion to eliminate stutter is the big sell for me. Gonna finally make the upgrade from my LG C9.
To me, the G4 and G3 definitely are whiter, and in some cases, a little bit more green/yellow, and I don’t particularly love that. On the other hand, I have a super Duper bright room and for this reason I would have been considering them- except for the fact that the only one of these TVs that supports spectrum streaming app is the Samsung…
I saw the S 95D a few days ago at PC Richard and it kind of blew me away…
Mr.Fomo
Another excellent video.
Agreed, the LG65G4 is the winner in 2024!
Also, love your OUT OF THE BOX
comparisons of competing brands!
Thanks.
Now it will be interesting how the much improved C4 is holding up in brightness and motion!?
Awesome....will look for a g3...or g4 on black friday....woled rules still
Why is the white tone so bad on the G4 here 04:20? Please help
You ever find an answer?
Went with the s95d because I will use it as a pc monitor primarily
U guys shud mod the s95d n then u will truly know how far ahead it is
I'm warming up to the S95D more and more. I might end up getting both the G4 and the S95D. S95D shadow detail looks better than the rest and those specular highlights are on another level. The G4 is the only 83 inch. Now I just have to decide which goes into the movie room and which goes into the living room.
I wanted to get both and test them but the s95d is still too much $$. Waiting on Black Friday.
Fomo , why is the grey scale and white balance off between these ?
Can you do a video like this comparing MiniLED TV's? Especially when Sony releases their 2024 MiniLED TV they have been teasing.
Whats with the green hue on the G4?
I don't like it.
Does the Lg g4 still have gallery mode? I like the original narrative behind it now just being a black screen on you wall.
I would not do that. The screen loses brightness over time. Also sunlight even indirect wears out the pixels.
How do you like the G4 compared to your A80L? Please detail the comparison, thanks!
Can you please share your specific settings on the A95L that are equivalent to Cinematic movement on the G4.
I love hockey too ! Thanks for bringing that up
Lg g4 best tv 2024 👍
It's not too early for me G4 for the win.😊
Had the S95D and returned it, got the LG G4 never looked back it is the ultimate gaming set.
It is indeed crazy awesome and the 5 year warranty puts it over the top for me
I ordered LG 77G3 for 2100€. The G4 is too expensive. Best price for the G4 €4000. For the little improvement. I took the G3 because I only do streaming.
Does motion AI on the lg g4 work in games similar to motion game plus on samsung tvs and if so, is there less artifacting than samsung tvs?
For SDR in a dark room. 65". S95c or C4?
LG C4
S95c way better..
Why haven't they ever returned to the US market? Does anyone know?
Bro ppl were not buying panasonic so they exited the market .they r just overpriced n in no way better than g3 or the qd oleds.. it's just the sound but who cares..u can get soundbars which sound way better
@Ren32 The Germany the shootout the MZ2000 came in second to the G3 , I own it best tv in my house better than my A95L and own both of them when . The MZ2000 is by far better when comes to sports also my A95L dims down significantly when I watch sports.
Thankyou very much lg!
Watching an OLED tv in a bright room should be a crime on it own...
But what would the punishment be for that?
How g2 hold up against g4 would love to see real difference g2 is now on massive sale more than 2000€ cheaper than g4 in 65inch size 😊
Great video Fomo...but wait...wheres the promised upscaling from LG on the G4..thought it would smash the g3?
Brighter in dark content is something I am after.
Fomo and Brian, incredible information and presentation. Just love you guys. Thank you for doing this for the fans of cinema 🙏🙏🙏
LG G4 is amazing, especially with full brightness and color in game mode with HGIG 🤩
Glad it amazed everyone, finally TV is a successor to C9
Did LG fix the pc to oled vrr gamma flicker problem yet!? Why do all of these reviewers ignore this problem...
@@Apeshower are shopping for new TV? What are you considering ?
was getting the c3 but now the g4 is the tv to save for!
Iv been using True Black 400 mode for HDR, it’s becoming my favorite so far. My QD OLED supports Dolby Vision but I never use it
@stop the fomo Can you say something about the cinematic movement of the S95D? you didn't say anything about it. Thank you.
Even though the G4 is probably only marginally better than the G3 but you have a choice to get a table stop stand with the G4
Chromance overshoot is night and day better on G4 over G3
Just ordered the 83 g4 I hope it’s better than my Sony xr95l mini led hope you say yes 😂👍
Come on folks this video need more thumbs up it takes less than a second to like the video compared to the time these guys put into this which helps all of us when buying TVs. Thanks
Why did the G3 look like thrash in the stutter test? My 6 year old LG doesn't look that bad.
Next week, many of You will change your mind after Sony presents its new Mini Led tv.
@@puresynergyfloI thought the U8N led 75” will use the high end Screen they use in 98” 110” . The Full Gloss 180 viewing angle one . I am getting that one this year . Once u see 1 in person , can’t go back . Still jaw dropping months later .

These guys are all team OLED. They'll trash mini LED no matter how good it is.
I was already hyped for the new 83" LG G4 but now I'm even more hyped for it!
So are you saying that Dolby Vision is useless?
Yes 100%
So Dolby Vision doesn't matter anymore going to get QD OLED then
I think the Samsung's going to be brighter in gaming
i m waiting next year if lg will release C5 with mla (42"), to get good sdr peak brightness (or samsung s90e)
What if Sony surprises and comes out with a S95M with a new chip using AI. Since AI is the big buzz word in 2024
You mean an A95M? That would certainly be a big surprise. I don't think they will do that, but they could update the processor in the A95L to a newer one. We will know on Wednesday!
Sony is done buddy
