Yamaha Outboard Gearcase Disassembly and Diagnosis 4HP 4-Stroke

In this video, we take a look inside a suspected bad gearcase in a Yamaha YMLHT 4HP 4-stroke long shaft outboard to diagnose issues with shifting and propeller movement.

Nothing broken in gears. Why not disassemble and clean and lube and reassemble?

A couple of new bearings from Yamaha are only about $24 each. Oil seals maybe 5 bucks each. I rebuilt mine a few months ago. It did have oil in it but was mixed with water which ruined the bearings.

Probably the mount break damage was the same thing that bent all the prop blades

Can I open my engine like that or will all the oil drip out

As far as me, I'd replace with all brand new, if I wanted to keep the engine. It looks like a 2 stroke..
