Bro thanks for making this you’ve given me some good ideas not only for a video one day but how to help my tone you’re an awesome guy I’m glad to be your friend
I agree 100% about the pickups. It’s more of a feel thing with the actives vs the actual tone. They just feel more responsive, especially with chugs 🤘🏼
Im a bit lazy and nooby i must admit. I have a cheap artist guitar with gt40 mustang amp with over 100 different settings that replicates everything i think i need and ive never known anything else. It keeps me happy and I dont really know what else is out there or how this all works. All the terminology etc just goes straight over my head. Still happy to watch the video as always quality with you mate.
Thanks, appreciate the support mate. That’s why I called it a rabbit hole it never ends , so much information and not enough time. I’m a collector as much of a player and love the history of it.
@DUNN.. yeah, when you were explaining it all it was clear to me pretty quick that it's been a hobby/journing for you over a long period of time. For me, 49 years old and gets first amp with no f'idea what I'm doing but still having fun.
@@greenygg3498 Im 46 and have been playing since the late 80s and Im still learning too. All this digital impulse talk goes right over my head. I only play through amps, I have an interface but I dont like it at all, the latency sucks and I just never figured out how to use it.
@sole__doubt I’ve nearly launched my computer out the window many times and been very frustrated . But once you figure it out it’s really fun to record and teachers you a lot when you listen back to what you played.
I know it's a cliche, everyone says it, but it's so true. Tone comes from the individual. No matter which guitar I pickup, no matter what amp I plug into (real or virtual), after a few minutes of knob turning, I always end up sounding the same...like me 😁
Use the same equipment the bands you like use. I love Chucks sound so I got a 8100. These days however I usually play through my 6505 mh for daily playing.
Definitely a cool little head. I definitely the classic Marshall sound and sold my JVM when I needed the cash, but I figured out just crank the mids to get the classic early sound
For me the mt2w stacked with the hm2w boosted with ts9. Works for me. Then I turn off the hm2 and sometimes add a subtle flanger for a thrash/groove dimebag tone
These tube heads make sense for cranking out gigs or practice sesh or even reslly getting after it at home. However, without the audio interface side of everyrhing, would you recommend a 6505 or 5150 and cab for home pracfice at reasonable volumes? Im scared to buy something that only likes playing at volume where my whole street can hear. Would the solution be just a smaller cab with less speakers?
@@DUNN.. I would love to hear how you set your EQ. Please Do a video on this as well we all could learn something from each other😊 I for one is very interested in this subject matter
Thank you Dunn for addressing this issue! I asked if you would do a video on this matter and you did. Thanks so much!! You the man!!
No worries brother, my pleasure.

Right back at you brother . I've been very lucky to meet people on this journey that support and encourage each other . Hope your feeling better
@@DUNN.. I’m having my surgery 5/30 I’m nervous but it has to happen

I find the difference in harmonics, sustain and pick attack. I find the hotter the signal the less I have to attack the strings
@@DUNN.. absolutely, that’s one of the first things I noticed straight away as soon as I threw emgs in my guitar.

@greenygg3498 as long as it’s fun that’s the main point of all of it for me and I enjoy the challenge and learning.

What a rabbit hole indeed lol.
Great video!!
You know it , we both got GAS bad . But we wouldn't want it any other way

I agree, there’s no right tone only your tone
No it doesn't come from the individual. Maybe you're just unwilling to change your sound up.
@@liquidcancer4573 sounds like someone doesn't have a tone...

Awesome, you’ve definitely been down the rabbit hole and created your own special sauce
@@DUNN.. yeah took 8 years experimenting. Trying out a lot of different pedals. Buying and trading
I use an EVH stealth 15 LBS with a boss SD1 as a boost, and blackstar 1x 12 with a V30 I put in it. Amazing.
Awesome, definitely can’t go wrong with that setup

I’d recommend trying out the amp and cab at lower volumes . 6505 and 5150 are essentially the same amp but I’d pick the 5150
Great video Dunn, very informative mate, and much appreciated 👍🤘
Maybe I should talk about how to set the eq but for me tone is personal and it’s best just to turn dials and see what happens

Till I make that I’ll say mids and lows are your friend
Thanks ❤what you’re doing and you have a great opinion because you tone sounds great keep up the great work 🤘🏻
Thank you appreciate the support 🤘🏻
Shit yeah man. I own not one single amp lol. Everything I do is " in the box".
I love my amps but everyone has their own approach. We definitely live in an amazing time to be a player.
I heard the accent and knew I was in the right place 😂
Strewth Ruth , welcome aboard cobber . Stay tuned as this gronk plays metal riffs and has a red hot go
A Marshall 8100, Crate GX or Ampeg VH will do it.
Awesome list there for iconic old school death metal and dying fetus 🤘🏻
what's the pedal that emulates ampeg? :)
Void manufacturing Lich , SNK pedals also a version of the Ampeg 140c
cool!👍👍👍👍
🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Well, this makes my mxr full bore and wah pedal seem irrelevant. And a plethora of fuzz boxes for stoner doom metal
The question is are they relevant to you ? Not everyone wears the sandals pair of shoes
Do you know that you are cool?
No , I'm just an average person sharing my love of the guitar
I just set distorsion on the amp with an overdrive, easy
Can’t go wrong with that setup, my favourite is a TS9 and the distortion channel with a 10 band eq in the loop
@@DUNN.. i use a Harley Benton overdrive (ts9 copy) with a tube blackstar amp, great sound
