Watching this remembering Mike Henderson. He and Chris wrote most of the songs on their first two albums as well as many of the songs on the third album although they had both left the band by then. How in the world these guys didn't become absolutely huge is beyond me. RIP
IMO this was not only the best bluegrass band but the best band EVER. And that first album is my all time favorite of any ever. I met them in Florida shortly before he left them. Stapleton is on humble guy
One of the finest songwriters of this generation. Right up there with Simon, Lennon, Springsteen, Dylan, Taupin/John, Earle, Mellencamp, Prine, Keen, Lovett, Parton, Townes VanZandt, Williams, ...
these people man....stand the F up! you're in the presence of greatness dammit! chris stapleton is killing it on stage and everybody is just like, "good for you" *mild applause* the man sounds better live than most artists after studio editing
I totally get what you’re saying. It’s going to be one of those deals where people say, “I had a chance to go see him live and never did”. He’s as talented, if not more, than Waylon or JC. As much as I never thought that would be possible, Chris can do it all. From singing with Jamey Johnson to Ed Sheeran. Endless ability.
wesstiles When I was in college said me friends of mine were going to a concert and asked me if I wanted to go. I had no interest because I’d never heard of the band before, so I just went with some other friends to a bar and shot pool. And that, my friends, is how I missed seeing U2 on their first tour....🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️
This was the beginning of when people would know who the MAN actually is....Chris Stapleton set the vocal bar so high that it's untouchable by any country or bluegrass singers.
One of the reasons I like his music, it describes how I lived a lot of years, till it was killing me and lost most everything I loved. Then, Starting over. Life sure got better without it. Hit 14 years sober this last march.
Chris's singing reminds me of Gregg Allman. Chris does a very respectable version of Gregg's 'Whipping Post'. One of the best new faces and an incredibly talented fella.
There is absolutely NO comparison of Chis Stapleton to Gregg Allman. Chris Stapleton is fantastic and has his own style, however Gregg Allman was Gregg Allman and no one will ever compare ✌❤🌻
Like most men you have no idea what you are talking about because you know nothing. I followed the Allman Brothers and even saw them with Dwayne and Randy Oakley. I even saw Gregg Allman Laid Back tour. Like I said Chris Stapleton is fantastic. He does a great cover of Whipping Post and I love everything he does. He is just NOT a comparison to Gregg Allman. There will always be one Gregg Allman and Chris Stapleton has picked up the torch thank God for the future of music. You just shut the __ up! You little turd✌❤🌻
You say it’s SD not CS but seems like A lot of Chris Stapleton to me. You can put 15 bluegrass bands on radio and just listen and they all may sound similar, but put Chris Stapleton and Jason Aldean on radio without saying you gonna know who is who!
@@averygentry35 Are you speaking to me? If so, certainly not. Bluegrass music is the most heartfelt music there is. Chris Stapleton used to be with the Steeldrivers and that is where I first heard of him only because I listen to Bluegrass.
I dont think Chris Stapleton knew he would be as popular as he is now, he sounds awesome bluegrass, he's the best and the bass player is good too tho, awesome tho
How do they do it? Chris’ songs keep me in the car when I pull in the drive way. It’s tough to find a place I’m going that I’d rather be than listening to his work.
I hope all you anonymous people out there like this as much as I do I'll never know you but if I did likely wed be friends I am that's my family's biggest complanate Grandpa we can't take you anywhere you'll make friends with everyone in the place
They’ve had two other lead singers since Chris left and every record gets better. They were well respected studio musicians fir years too they started the SteelDrivers. My parents have seen Tammy play since she was 16 at Bluegrass festivals all over Texas. They are all fabulous musicians. My now Bluegrass husband took me to see them and he fell in love with their sound and that was in February if 2020.
Saddens my heart people only know of Chris Stapleton and his terrible country music songs. I mean no offense and not denying his talents but he definitely sold himself short when he went solo. This was so much better 😣
Watching this remembering Mike Henderson. He and Chris wrote most of the songs on their first two albums as well as many of the songs on the third album although they had both left the band by then. How in the world these guys didn't become absolutely huge is beyond me. RIP
Yeah, missing Hendo. Things are getting mighty quiet in the local halls of tunesville.
Killer songwriting. 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Chris on lead vocals...I remember thinking..."man I never heard bluegrass sung like that!" Beyond Chris, Tammy Rodgers is a wizard on fiddle
Now. Let me tell you people something
THIS IS COUNTRY MUSIC AT IT'S PEAK! UNMATCHED BY ANY BAND RIGHT NOW!
IMO this was not only the best bluegrass band but the best band EVER. And that first album is my all time favorite of any ever. I met them in Florida shortly before he left them. Stapleton is on humble guy
Chris Stapleton is an absolute legend!!
The Steeldrivers are just fabulous. How good is it to finish their night at the Opry with Charlie Daniels sittin' in? Wow! Great stuff, folks!!!
Can't get enough of this. Come to Ireland Chris! 🇮🇪
It just does not get any better, RIP Charlie.
These folks don’t comprehend who they’re watching. Only a few years later that big burly guy will be one of the greatest voices in Country.

Steel drivers are still great with their new singer
I love all his songs. I would love to see him go back to his roots and hope never forgets them.
Man, I feel so blessed to have seen them live. I still get goosebumps listening to them
I was lucky to catch him in Feb.2020, "All for the Hall" in Nashville. Many great artist, but chills when Chris and his wife sang.
I seen the man the myth the legend a couple years ago and I'll just say the dude has a voice of gold wish the steeldrivers could've been bigger
I saw him too
How did people not come away from this singing his praises high to the heavens?
these people man....stand the F up! you're in the presence of greatness dammit! chris stapleton is killing it on stage and everybody is just like, "good for you" *mild applause* the man sounds better live than most artists after studio editing
And thats the truth
I really like the Gary Allen rendition of this song!

Have you ever watched the grand ole opry?
This was the beginning of when people would know who the MAN actually is....Chris Stapleton set the vocal bar so high that it's untouchable by any country or bluegrass singers.
I love this music and the steeldrivers is awesome
THIS is when i was introduced to Chris Stapleton and KNEW this man was something special!!!!!
I love this band wish they still played together
They do, just without Chris Stapleton. The new guy, Kelvin Damrell is pretty darn good. Saw them in Charleston last week.
They are still great! Wish I had caught the show at the Ryman a couple of nights ago!!
They still play and tour, just Chris Stapleton is gone, Gary Nichols took his place and is great as well! I still love em, music is awesome!
@@baddriver3580 I believe Gary Nichols is gone now.
@@travisbrown8669 , Yep looks like Adam Wakefield is in now. Hope Gary does well.
I need a count of how many of Chris Stapletons songs have the word "whiskey" in it...lmao
More than a few, the last time I counted.
take a shot everytime Chris sings "Whiskey" while listening to an album... You'd be surprised how quickly you'll be hugging the porcelain throne.

Killer lead vocals and harmony. One of my favorite bands!!
Best bluegrass band ever.
Love this. You folks are real
This lineup played our Wheatland music festival in Sept of the same year. Awesome
What!! I'm from Michigan and so bummed I missed this! No place like Wheatland. That would have been magical. ❤
Chris! ...the legend
Absolutely phenomenal pickin and a sangin..
Charlie a great musician and a true patriot. all great. Tammy is one helluva fiddler.
2005 founding members: Mike Henderson, Chris Stapleton, Tammy Rogers, Richard Bailey & Mike Fleming
Still trying to find a video of Chris singing flat, just can't seem to do it...
Good luck
RIP Charlie. Weill miss you. Play that fiddle made of gold!
Awesome
Audience looked like they were literally hit by that midnight train to Memphis 😂
Seen these guys play many times, most of which were ACS. Just bought tickets for a show on April 10th!!

Chris at his best on Midnight Train to Memphis
Ted Jordan Definitely a Chris song might be when he realized he could sing the songs he wrote and have a job, rest is history.
Charlie really loved Chris ...you can tell
Keep in mind..this is steeldriver...not chris Stapleton.these are high class musicians
This is one of the first times I ever heard of Chis Stapleton. ✌❤🌻

I think he better at soul/blues country, but his bluegrass is awesome too!
Those people didn't know what the hell hit 'em.
Love the intro taking Bluegrass into deeper waters ain't that the truth

Love “Sticks That Made Thunder”from the Stapleton Steel Driver era give it a listen
This. Is. Music.
Holy moly didn't expect Charlie Daniels
RIP Charlie Danniels
Seen Chris LIVE #redrocks best show in history.
Hey Nan whats going on ? I MIss you ! Be Well.
That’s Mike Henderson on the mandolin-
That singer is pretty good he might make it
That's Chris Stapleton with the steel drivers tearing up some bluegrass
❤
WOW!!!!!
That guy with the beard should go on X factor. He could be massive!
The guy with beard don't need xfactor he's already one of the most popular singers with his song Tenessee Whiskey. That's Chris Stapleton.
she fell for it, psh

Look at Chris Stapleton now
Dang, Charlie Daniels got to play with Chris Stapleton. Good for him.
😂
What’s the name of that last song they played
"Sleep With One Eye Open" written by Lester Flatt
My imagination o the Stapleton life other the band?? Good voice the Chris
Chris is the entire band.
What do you mean, Tammy goes ham on that damn fiddle! And the bassist and the man on the banjo. Without it them it would sound different, I promise.

He’s has a lipper in.
Chris should have stayed in this genre of music. His vocal style has been run in to the ground. Tired of hearing his tone of voice.
I wish Chris Stapleton never went solo

Woah. I love steeldrivers but you can’t say Chris’s songs are bad. That’s like saying puppies are ugly.
Chris Stapleton should have never quit the Steeldrivers! This was when it was real
