Seriously! Listen to what Sam is saying Thomas, your way of expressing how you do what you do, the way you present it all and your own little way of putting that across really is excellent. Keep up the great work mate!
I totally agree with you, getting a solid image per location is the best approach. You have time to think it out and solve to reach the better angle. Great trip and video, as always.
i have been clicking for around 10 years now. have seen 1000s of videos on the subject, yours is the best, most simplified, and intetesting way of explaining. You make an awesome Guru. Awesome.
I have been confused as to how in most of your videos you always go for just "one" shot. You answered it perfectly here. It is so easy to get caught up in all the beauty around you and just get trigger happy, changing settings, losing train of thought and ultimately losing sight of the whole experience. Your patience is inspirational, great work! EverythingGood
Totally agree , I'm that guy who completely loses his mind in a beautiful place and ends up taking over 1000 shots of everything ! I only ever end up with 3/4 good ones . Must learn to relax and look for that perfect shot more
I love that you focused multiple times on the thing that will amaze most visitors to Iceland. You will often be COMPLETELY ALONE. I drove around the entire country in September of 2015, and was shocked at how few people there were. Outside the immediate Reykjavik/Golden Circle area, it's incredibly sparsely populated (both natives and tourists) and you will often have vistas all to yourself. I think the best time to go is in September, you get a sort of 'normal ' amount of daylight and night - plenty of daylight for a sunrise, full day, sunset, and then night for sleeping easy.
Nice video - I like how this feels like a journey rather than just picking and snapping - it feels much more like you've worked hard to get the photos, documenting your train of thought along with it. I thought the photos also got progressively better as the video moved along - nice photos man!
Really, just a wonderful video. I think I need to re-focus my little projects from technical skills to finding a location. You're a wonderful inspiration.
Thomas, I really enjoy your videos. As an avid music photographer, i'm trying to get out and do new things. These videos are helping me see what it's like to just go out and explore! I can't wait to see your future posts.
I've just forwarded this to my daughter who is traveling to Iceland tomorrow form Australia for 10 day solo tour with camera, tripod & warm boots. Your video is inspiring but so practical and best of all some beautiful images! Looking forward to seeing what she captures. Thanks Thomas,
Really love your videos Thomas Heaton. They really speak to us landscape photographers that I ready for those videos beyond techniques and tutorials. They are inspirational and really want us to get out and shoot. Thanks for the hard work you put into your videos. It really shows and is appreciated!
Nick Page Hey, thanks. I really wanted to avoid getting bogged down in tutorials as every body is so different. The best way to get better images is to get out more, so I thought I would document my outings. Glad you like it.
Thomas, absolutely amazing documentation video !!! Thanks for doing this work and sharing with us. I came back from Iceland one week ago. It's was cool trip with nice pictures as well. But not so cool as you have. We didn't have iceberg as you had on the beach. Once again, thanks for doing this work and sharing it with us on youtube. Really appreciate it. Cheers Peter
Thank you for taking the viewer through how you look for the shot. I am very much enjoying your videos. You say you're trying to inspire -- well, that's exactly what you're doing. You are an inspiration. Your photos are stunning.
The temptation with some digital photographers is to take as many photos as you can in the hope that one is good.. Being brought up with film, it was always... take your time and take one good photo... I always like your thought process and your desire to keep improving and pushing your Photography skills.
your comment made me really happy.. i always feel like i'm slacking when taking pictures.. sometimes i'll go out and only take two pictures but both are amazing and when i do take more photos just for the sake of it it starts to demotivate me because i don't feel like the pictures are as good as they should be.. thanks :)
news true - but sometimes there is a significant difference in both depth of field and sharpness with apertures, especially in nighttime long exposures - in this instance I take a lot
Thanks for taking the time to create and share another amazing video with us. It's really intriguing watching someone else go through the tough process behind capturing a photograph. You compositions are always great and you're images are top notch.
I'm so glad I found your channel. Have watched like a billion videos of yours in the last week or so and can't get enough. I normally only shoot sports but I'm getting so inspired watching your episodes! Keep up the great stuff :)
Thomas Heaton Thanks for making these videos. I love landscape photography. A lot of the times, its the experience getting the right shot that brings so much meaning to the shot itself. Keep doing what you do, I'm definitely a fan.
I really like when you line up your GoPro directly behind where your camera will be shooting (See 11:53 as an example). This helps me understand how people line up their camera to shoot their surroundings. Hopefully you do more of these!!
I love your videos and the photos that you produce. I like how you have something to tell the story behind each image. Great work, can't wait for the next video
Loved it so much! Thank you for sharing this. It is a dream destination of mine to go to Iceland and photograph its landscapes. So beautiful. Well done!!!
What an absolutely fantastic video. Thank you so much for sharing this top quality information and entertainment. I really hope to see a lot more videos of yours. Really stunning, almost lost for words :p

Keep doing what you're doing Thomas! You are hands down the most inspiring landscape photographer on youtube. And I bet you are responsible for a large portion of us going out and shooting even when everything is stacked against us getting that perfect shot we're always after. Thank you
I really like landscape photos, I don't love them though. But your video, the whole experience, all the serenity, the peaceful vibe, that is something I simply loved. thank you for this amazing video, you're the man
I go to Iceland one week in June ! In Snaefellsnes and West fjords mostly for birds photography. An amazing place. I try to make a video...really not easy. Thank you for your energy and the inspiration of your work. Yohan, a french Photographer.
Just finished watching all of your videos. Watched all of them back to back. They were all very inspirational and of course the photos were amazing. Thank you for the videos.
That was amazing!!! I think so far my favorite photography video!!! Your photos are really brilliant!!! And even the video footage is amazing! THUMBS UP!!!
Hello Thomas, you got some wonderful shots there. It was fascinating to see how relaxed you looked and almost zen-like. It looked like you were having a very good time on your own. And I also wished I was there also ...
Thomas, your work is stunning, love those iceberg images, very surreal, Iceland is such a magical place, i long to visit there some day, i love how you explain every little detail thoroughly, what filtres your using, exposure settings etc, great information for those aspiring to take images as memorable as yours are. Cannot wait to see where else you visit! Top work! Thank you for sharing xx
Your channel is super nice... its awosome to see how much effort is needed to take an astonishing landscape... and appreciate ur effort in videoing the whole thing along and then share it with us for free currently 😊 Hv a good day :) Cheers from Yemen :)
absolutely breathtaking Thomas ! I didn't even understand how time passed while watching ! Truly stunning ! Iceland is the main country that I wanna see and shoot some pictures ! Those icebergs on the black pebble beach are amazing. Thanks for taking us there, Thomas
I was blown away by both the landscape and your artistry. Patience is clearly a prerequisite in your profession

Wonderful video Thomas, your patience and perseverance is amazing
Finally a youtube photographer that can also deliver on great images. Amazing work!
Love the last picture. Smoothing out the sea was a nice way to create contrast from the rough texture of the iceberg.
Simply beautiful! Thanks for sharing those moments!
Another great and really enjoyable video Thomas. Thank you. Looks like you've brought home some incredible photos.
I enjoyed every single moment of this video thanks for sharing it with us.
These are incredible - I was in that part of Iceland a couple of years ago and seeing this now makes me all nostalgic and desperate to go back
I love that you focused multiple times on the thing that will amaze most visitors to Iceland. You will often be COMPLETELY ALONE. Iceland looks cold, but flippin' gorgeous.
You make the most inspiring videos. They make you really urgently want to go out and shoot. Great photography.
Simon Labuhn That's great to hear. Thanks.
Stunning photography, last image is absolutely amazing, love your videos
Thomas, you have one of the best photography channels on TH-cam. Keep them coming!
Nice video - I like how this feels like a journey rather than just picking and snapping - it feels much more like you've worked hard to get the photos, documenting your train of thought along with it. I thought the photos also got progressively better as the video moved along - nice photos man!

It's never easy... but it's always worth doing! Great video, thanks for sharing your process in taking your amazing images. I'm learning a lot!
excellent video, the way you make your videos is great, telling a story rather than sticking to facts. cant wait for more.
I get way too excited when this guy posts a video..
I don't know all your photos, of course, but the one at 14:20 is - after all these years - still my favourite.
Thanks for sharing your trip to Iceland with us! Absolutely stunning images!

Love how you showed the polarizer bit. That really helped me as a newbie.
Really love your videos Thomas Heaton. They really speak to us landscape photographers that I ready for those videos beyond techniques and tutorials. That's very kind, thank you.
I love the insight into your thinking before a shot. No spray and pray here ... well may a little spray!
The temptation with some digital photographers is to take as many photos as you can in the hope that one is good.. Being brought up with film, it was always... take your time and take one good photo... I always like your thought process and your desire to keep improving and pushing your Photography skills.
That's very kind, thank you. I guess that is the downside to digital, too easy and can interrupt the thought process.
your comment made me really happy.. i always feel like i'm slacking when taking pictures.. sometimes i'll go out and only take two pictures but both are amazing and when i do take more photos just for the sake of it it starts to demotivate me because i don't feel like the pictures are as good as they should be.. thanks :)
