Just thank you. A wonderful distraction from the din of the day when all you want to do is escape...
Glad to be of service. Thanks for watching. Glad you enjoyed it 👍
Nuts. Bloody nuts. No way would I go that close to the edge for ANY image. But I love your work and courage.
My feet and knees were tingling just looking at that spectacular spike shot... and next, you're walking along between certain death on each side, holding your vlogging camera, calmly reciting the completely-memorized Squarespace spiel! 😀 I could never be an Icelandic TH-cam landscape photographer... LOL But all I can say is, "Wow!!!"
Haha. Thanks a lot, glad you enjoyed it.
I am sitting here in terror watching you turn and talk to the camera as you adjust your camera so close to the cliff's edge. Safety first Tom. Safety is always first. Great video.
Safe as houses 👍
That spike shot was something else, definitely one of the best of the trip.
@8:35 the big lens really thid it's job. Great capture!
I eagerly, yes that right, eagerly wait for every episode in this trip. And today’s does not disappoint. I can no longer do back country hiking - to old and to many miles on my knees. But man your shows! They are such a joy. Thanks!
Just finished diner in The Netherlands. Nice interruption before doing dishes and other boring housework. Thnx!!
Fantastic Thomas, you are a brave man indeed, pretty sketchy on those mountain tops, stunning images though My fav's being the spire and the iceberg lagoon shot, thanks for sharing.
The 16/9 shot of the iceberg feild is just wow!
I just with I could hick at those altitudes and photograph all these beautiful landscapes. With a heart health I'd probably won't be able to go that high and carrying a backpack. However, I'm enjoying every minute of your mesmerizing, breath taking videos. It's like I'm up there too. 🙂
💓the first photo with the spire and waterfall … a great lesson on always always always look behind you.
So true!
Beautiful last couple of shots!
The advantage of an aluminum bottle is that there is less/no micro-plastic
verticleshot looking down was incredible.. mesmerizing !!! and for less than ideal conditions you Smashed it !!!
@5:47 This is a really great shot. Happy that you includes this in your video!
My back is tingling watching you on that edge, Thomas. The photos are all spectacular.
Perfect light and composition!
The 100-400 kicked butt, love those images.
The 400mm shots near the end are gorgeous. The best I've seen from your Iceland expedition,
The picture at minute 9:30 is a picture from another world. You are very creative
I like that first shot.
as always Thomas - BRILLIANT!
Glad you enjoyed it 👍
I'm not sure about the long-distance shots of the glacier; but the first shot of the canyon was MWAH.
Some beautiful captures Thomas! We live through you, keep up the excellent work and as always, keep it real!
Great “out of the ordinary” photowork Thomas. Thnx
Thanks. I always try to shoot locations a little differently, if possible.
Calender arrived couple of days ago....stunning again.
Totally want everywhere to myself... YES! Well done, sir! Well done
I like the spike image, but particularly enjoyed the first image from the 100-400 (9:33) which is pleasingly abstract and ambiguous. I don't know if there's any more from this trip, but i've enjoyed it all immensely. Excellent!
Wow Thomas.. that Spike shot - wonderful❤.
Spectacular Thomas. Please stay safe on those solo hikes to/over precarious ledges.
Thomas I discovered you after my trip to Iceland in august 23 … you were able to show me what I wasn’t able to see for myself .. I’m not a photographer but in my next life I’ll choose to be 🤔 you help me to escape when I watch your channel.. I live in Sydney Australia id live it if yiu could show the world Australian in your eyes ..thank you I’m a fan ❤
Superb images as usual…you must have a good head for heights…peering over that ledge would be way too scary for me!
GPS goes wonky when you’re surrounded by rocks and shows more than what you actually hiked. Gorgeous images! But those cliff edges are scary!
Fantastic images Thomas. It gave me the collywobbles watching you on the edge up there 😆
That was some scarey stuff on that cliff edge. I have a real fear of gravity! Beautiful photos. That was hard to watch
Lovely pinnacle spike shot!
That shot downwards is all yours; if I were there I wouldn’t take it, probably wouldn’t even get there. Nice, very nice.
I will be in Iceland in a couple of weeks so this series has been an excellent build up to my visit. You have captured some stunning shots of this amazing country too.
Great Video Thomas, 5:42 Beautiful image 8:30 love the detail and sharpness 9:34 love it, the abstract composition overcomes the haze 9:45 wow the haze and cloud make this one! Thanks for sharing
Many thanks, I appreciate the feedback and commentary 👍
That was my favorite hike from when I was there something special about that place I had mist on the mountain peaks 😊 so couldn’t see much of the steeper part of the hike but was amazing
Thanks for take us along, just watch your feet, 😮
Thank you Thomas great video. That first canyon shot when you asked for opinions, I thought was great. Keep up the great work, and thanks for taking us along.
Great shot of the spire! Beautiful.
Thomas, a question you may get either all too often or from time to time: Are you satisfied that the crisp and contrast that is evident on the screen is equally crisp and contrasty when you print on paper? The highlighted pictures here are really excellent, but I wonder if a print on paper would evoke the same ideas you achieve on the viewer's screen?
Hmmm, it's a tricky question. In my opinion, there are some images that work better in print than others. Back lit screens help make images pop, but prints are reflective so it's difficult to portray that contrast you speak of.
Thank you.
I’ve never been interested in photography but your videos have really opened my eyes to it! Travelling around taking some fantastic images really looks like an amazing adventure, can’t wait to keep tuning in.
What a beautiful place. Love watching your videos. Stay safe, have fun. I just got your calendar in the mail (United States-Ohio). Love it!
Awesome. Thank you.
Absolutely stunning spike shot 👏
Classic shots as always Thomas.
It clicked for sure, very nice indeed!
Been there, hiked to the glacier there was artic fox there ! Wonderful hike
thank you for your work Thomas, it is a very beautiful place!
What a neat hike. I’m amused by the disagreement between your watch and phone.
Anyway, I have the calendar and it’s gorgeous. I’m delighted.
Excellent video and images, apart from not being fit enough to get up there no way could I stand on those cliff edges. Thank you.
Belter! Apart from the heights, woooo. Love the long lens shots, class Tom! I’ve been asked to go Iceland and I have to say I’m proper nervous about it. But seeing your videos is a massive help!
As someone who is not keen on heights, just watching this video got the adrenalin flowing 😱
Miss seeing the meta data on photos you present. Always enjoy your treks and photography journey. Keep up the great work.
Yeah, my bad. This was a very rushed edit and i ran out of time.
Understandable ..amazing you’re doing this on the road.
When you going to jump across the pond hit us up in California..
Beautiful photos, glad you made it back without falling :) Don't know how you film and walk like that, ugh! I get very stressed hiking into places for sunset, worried about getting out before dark.
Fantastic shots, the Spire is phenomenal, thanks for the inspiration. Be safe.
That spire shot is gooorgeous. But I’m also loving your combination of shoot-from-the-hip and locked-off video shots. You’ve set the bar so damn high.
Great video and wonderful photos. A real inspiration as I enter the world of landscape photography
Just got my calendar. It looks amazing. Can't wait for 2024 now :)
When things in the world settle down a bit, you should definitely try Altay mountains.
love the spikey one!
Even though I’m sat at home watching this on an iPad, why do I find myself shouting at the screen “ get away from the ****ing edge you fool !”, honestly, these vids make me squirm and tense up, I don’t need this Tom ! I’m supposed to be relaxing…….
What I like about the spire shot is that it really could be any size! Like that could be a macro shot or a big drone type shot of a landscape. Makes me want to look at it for ages
ooooh that was some worrisome watching, at moments there. was (silently) shouting at the screen, "never mind the photography now, pleeeaaase come away from that deadly drop!". but should have known to trust a rock climbers good sense on the matter, as you of course would have had. striking images, first especially, and the last was typically beautiful and ethereal. well done and thank you as always. and calendar order on its way soon, here.
I would love to do an Iceland trip one day. Overlanding with a van would be a bit much, considering I am based in Cape Town, but still. Great video.
What an amazing video and photos! Thank you for sharing your wonderful experience.
That first shot, I would have been packing it trying to set up tripod. Hand held sitting or kneeling for me.
I too have the Fenix and the reason it does this is when you are standing still, it doesn't know it so it bouces you around as if you are walking in circles. Take a look at the map in Connect and you will see that when you were at the top it thought you were walking around and around even when you were standing still. Great work Tom. I've been loving the Iceland series. Sa about the music you are using these days consistently because I used it too in some videos over the past 4 years and I love it but can I use the same music as you? Hmm... There is a question for the ages. LOL
Thanks for sharing. Calendars arrived yesterday. Really nice.
Wonderful, thanks for your order 👍
I think you are the most enjoyable waffler I've ever heard, Thomas. And then there is the bonus of awesome footage and stills :) In all it's quite wonderful. Loving this Iceland series.
Beautiful images as always Thomas!!! I was literally there the next morning and saw your van parked. You must have been sleeping. Lol
Another excellent video and stellar photos!
Great images Thomas 👍
Great video, great shots Thomas. Really enjoy your adventure videos......... I was getting the heebee jeebies when you were on the edge of that cliff though. I couldn't do that, 1, I don't like heights, 2 I'm super clumsy and would probably lose my camera over the edge, cos I'd knock it over,.....
Love the spike shot
Beautiful for sure
Dude... That is the first time I have ever seen the edge of an inversion. You get the milk bowl, the edge, and the super creepy dark land below. And, you got it right (seemingly) at the same level as the clouds. That has got to be one of the most technical (if weather is tech lol) shots I've ever seen. I've been in the right place at the right time before, but that image is beyond that. Great work sir!!!
Thanks. This makes me want to go back to Iceland.
That happens to me, too. Where I don't like the images as I take them, feeling lukewarm about them at the time. Then later as I go through them, the ones I thought I'd like seem subpar, and the ones I felt doubtful over turned out fantastic. It's hard to know at the time. Sometimes you just feel it, and sometimes you don't. Sometimes those feelings pan out in the long run. It's almost amusing when it turns out the other way around. Great work, Thomas, as usual. I love your photo adventures.
I would think that the spire shot was worth the climb by itself, even if you came upon by surprise!
Phwoar, what a hike! That first shot was amazing!!!
I did this walk in January time a couple of years ago. Snow was up to my knees and the snow was blizzarding. Needless to say it was that bad we only managed to get half way and got no images hahah
So cool bro. All three photos are superb for me. And would love to burn all those calories with a 3 mile hike or whatever it is if I could do it (I can't) like you. And always admired super professional landscape photographers like you for being able to walk super long hikes, especially with a heavy back pack with at least 3/4 kg weights in the bag. Truly and fully respected. I definitely can't do it.
Thanks for the movie. Would take it as a treat as usual. Take care and stay safe always. See you next week bro.
That spike 🤩
It's a shame to see that the era of SLR will slowly disappear from our streets.
To see where our eye reaches and perhaps we all want the same thing in the picture, while the best thing about a photo is perhaps the most unique thing that few people photograph the same hot spot.
What I notice and what I feel most looks forward to is another spot, something that few photographers do and in my opinion perhaps becoming the new thing, because there is so much awareness of hot spotting.
Beautiful photo at 5.42m fantastic (special)... I will soon have a new beast in my bag and I will tame it and discover it in the world of wonders.
Don't cover up too much in the photos. That's purely what I'm going for, everything is covered up these days.
9.50m great, beautiful spot, in the meantime I'm watching and listening, thank you for this beautiful video, have a nice day and see you again soon. Greetings, Martin 🤍
Fantastic video and images, that hike looked like a really nice one, stunning views. The spike image is really smashing! 👍
I made it here a couple of years ago, but didnt get past the first viewpoint. Some great shots higher up but I'd not be keen on those edges!
I remember when i first figured out where this was, it was a bit of a secret, photographers didn't want to say where it was to stop it getting overrun like Fjaðrárgljúfur. I think its much more well know these days though...
4 nice pics !
Spectacular images!
Im going there this weekend. Thanks for the preview, Thomas.
Have fun!
What a content, what a magnificent presentation bud!!! Hats off!l for this masterpiece! Amazing video, your content is just flawless! 👏👏
wow Stunning location!!
Hi Tom 🙂
I enjoyed the video as usual Thomas.
Wow what a fantastic place.
The canyon was amazing with the waterfall.
Definitely a long way down looking at the spike.
Great image's and i think my favourite ones were the iceberg lagoon.
What a beautiful collection of images Thomas, the natural beauty of Iceland is a sight to behold. Are you still using your Garmin Fenix 3?
Yeah, it's getting on a bit now though. Must be 9 years old.
Got my calendar today love it
Spectacular shooting locations if a wee bit dangerous..love the shots with the 400mm lens..absolutely enjoying your Icelandic adventures..many thanks and best wishes
Thank you for the video and the calender for 2024 which just arrived here.
Wonderful. Hope you enjoy it.
Received your calendar the other day, it's stunning ..
Glad you like it! Thanks a lot.
