    That '62 Maserati just TUGS at my heartstrings for some reason and it was made way before my time! Beautiful looking car whose performance easily backs it up. If James Bond worked for the Italian secret service, THIS would be the car he would roll around in...

    Jay is awesome. I enjoy his channel as much as I do this one. That Maserati is beautiful. I don't care much for the 70's and newer. But that one is a true classic.

    Great to see that Jay actually DRIVES his cars. This car moves out quite smartly by 1962 standards. The European horsepower ratings back then were far more realistic than the American manufacturer's outlandish advertised "Gross" figures. For example, the optional "300 HP" 327 offered in the 1962 Corvette unquestionably made less actual peak horsepower than this Maserati.

    Jay,,,Thank you for your wonderful uploads,,,as a kid growing up in 70s England we collected Top Trump cards and one was a 60s Quatraporte,,,,,I adore these older Maserati's,,,,,,, I live in England and owned Rover P5b's Buick powered British cars The Queen had one also many politicians had them to be chauffered,,,,but back late 70s,80s cheap enough to be,,,,,was wondering if you have been in one,,,,,,they even had Connoly leather,,,,,,,,have a great day,,,

      Irfan ~ I would love to own a P5b! To me, they are the perfect balance of luxury, power and great looks. Lucky you, to have owned them. There are a few TH-cam videos of the cars and the stories of their owners. I'm not sure they were exported to the US ~ our loss.

    min 3:40 the wire used to ensure that bolts don't vibrate loose. Amazingly enough rocket manufacturers still do the same thing on the bolts holding rocket parts together.

      Wire locking is standard practice on race cars and bikes. It prevents things coming loose.

    I wish Jay or Someone like you would do a show on his Triumph TR3A. My uncle has one that we restored, but it keeps overheating in the Arizona climate. We tried an electric fan, and a larger radiator to no avail. Would love to know how he keeps his cool in California.

    • @natjavlanamn
      @natjavlanamn 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I don't know if it'll help you, but I've experienced overheating on an MGA that we race and rally. We tried everything you've tried, but to no avail. It turned out to be the thermostat not opening properly. Have you changed yours? Or at least tested it by putting it in hot water and seeing at which temperatures it opens/closes? A brand new one could be faulty as well. I found an original(?) thermostat for the MGA that had a moving sleeve, in addition to the normal valve, that redirected the flow of water once the thermostat was open. After fitting that one the temperature dropped significantly, although it could simply have been down to it opening at the correct temperature. One time we also had the car overheating because the impeller in the brand new waterpump had worked itself loose on its shaft after about 300 miles of use. Low quality aftermarket parts are often a problem for us. If you can find NOS parts they are a better choice. Other than that - make sure you don't have anything blocking the radiator. If you for instance have an oil cooler in front of your radiator the engine will almost certainly overheat. I hope this helps you. Best of luck!

      Check your ignition timing - it can make your car run hot.

      I didn't know Jay owned a TR3. I have watched his show and he never features old MG's or Trumpets and I keep looking at the cars in the background in his garage hoping to see one.... I am beginning to think they don't interest him unfortunately.

      Cool, maybe we should suggest it in the comments on Leno's Garage as a future feature or maybe Dennis could help. I love old Brit sports cars. The first car I rode in for the first six years of my life was my dads '59 MGA and often stuffed under the passenger side tonneau so dad didn't have to unsnap it.

    • @RoyCousins
      @RoyCousins 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Ettore Bugatti was from Milan, Italy, but he started his car company in Molsheim, Alsace. At that time Alsace was in Germany, but became French after WW1 (there's a long history of Alsace and Lorraine swapping between France and Germany) and stayed that way, so all the factory Bugattis are French, although a few were built under license by Diatto (Italy), Rabag (Germany) and Crossley (England).
