Helene was by far the worst storm to hit the Appalachian mountains, with many communities still at a total loss many months later. I never thought such a storm would hit my area. Great animation!
This is the best hurricane animation season I've seen ever - I love the sleek presentation, the documentary aspect, and overall it's really refreshing to have background music that is appropriate for deadly natual disasters instead of some happy go lucky electronic track
I haven’t watched a whole lot of hurricane season animations in the past months, but wow-this one blew me f***ing away (pardon my censored French). The new icons are amazing, the graphics are so amazing that I was actually kicking my feet, and overall the entire animation was great, especially the documentary style of it! This is one of the best animations out there, hands down!
Elida, you’ve outdone yourself with this animation and I’m glad to see you coming back to making more animations. Keep up the great work and I can’t wait to see what you do next
this animation outperforms literally everything Oh, btw you should probably add a section at the summary section that's about the records. 2024 in general broke so many records it kinda deserves a section just dedicated to that.
That is an interesting suggestion. I was initially afraid if the summary would become too lengthy, but I will keep that in mind. Thanks for the response regardless!
Oml, this is was just beautiful. I literally almost teared just because of Helene and Beryl and the ending. 10/10 need i say more. I should’ve listened to the disclaimer at the start
One of the best videos I have ever seen. Thank you. You truly show what this season meant for a lot of people. Horrible thing. There were more images missing like from Oscar and Sara which were terribly devastating too. But thank you.
The Airbus A330 is a wide-body aircraft developed and produced by Airbus. Airbus began developing larger A300 derivatives in the mid-1970s, giving rise to the A330 twinjet as well as the Airbus A340 quadjet, and launched both designs along with their first orders in June 1987. The A330-300, the first variant, took its maiden flight in November 1992 and entered service with Air Inter in January 1994. The A330-200, a shortened longer-range variant, followed in 1998 with Canada 3000 as the launch operator. In other words, banger animation
It seems like I may have an explanation as to why; the official track made and uploaded on Wikipedia does not show any Category 2 points. As someone who has used the software to make such track images, these points do not appear because they are outside the 6 hour points (00z, 06z, 12z and 18z) on the data file used. They're known as asynoptic peaks. There is an option to turn it on, but it is rarely used in any major wikipedia articles, and those that did have it were removed. Aside from Francine, other examples are Michael (2018) and Lorenzo (2019), though this is the first time I'm hearing that some animations didn't show it as a C2
I don't mind taking some elements as long as you can create some really cool variations of it. I have been there before, you can absolutely learn all of that 🩷
This is a really good informative animation. I like it. Im still mad at beryl for ruining my first concert. It was on july 10 in London Ontario, and it just dumped so much rain. Of course, it was an outisde concert.
Technically by named storms, yes. However the metric used for this statistic was ACE; which meant that many of the storms this year lasted longer and stronger than the last 2 seasons. By that metric, 2024 was the most active since 2020, where over 180 ACE points were calculated in the end (161.5 for 2024)
I'm not that well versed in analysing tropical cyclones; that said, I can see Kirk being 135 knots (155mph) and Oscar being a C2 (I have heard from people, though I didn't use Oscar's potential intensity because not only was I unsure but I didn't want to be potentially wrong on something I have less knowledge about)
Yes. Though it may take a while since I am going to take things slower after putting in so much work for this video in a short span of time, as well as college examinations

yes and the damage is only 1 billion of from katrina and harvey
The fact that Ernesto, Issac and Leslie were close to become majors, this season could have had the most major hurricanes on record
yeah it could have been the most majors
If Francine had more time, it would've become a major as well
@tropicalstorm24 True
There's light evidence that Leslie was indeed a major based off of DVORAK and other factors iirc

Loved this video! Keep it up Astradia! Hope to see more amazing animations from you soon!
I live in Florida and have been affected by both of those monster storms. Thank you for this amazing video. Much love from Florida ❤

No worries, I can understand
this is genuinely the most heartbreaking hurricane animation I’ve watched
This is a truly great animation.
If you were to use your own analysis on this season, what do you have for Kirk and Oscar?
I'm not that well versed in analysing tropical cyclones; that said, I can see Kirk being 135 knots (155mph) and Oscar being a C2 (I have heard from people, though I didn't use Oscar's potential intensity because not only was I unsure but I didn't want to be potentially wrong on something I have less knowledge about)
do you plan to make a 2024 wpac season animation?
