doesn't apply to raids and dungeons since those don't have the "overcharged weapons" modifier, which is the one that boosts kinetics if u match your super with the surges
There seems to be a lot of people incorrect in the comments. The Overcharged Weapons modifier is what provides kinetic weapons a damage buff when your Super matches one of the surges. Surges can be active in activities without the overcharged weapons mod (like the raid) and therefore, kinetic weapons would not get that buff. For things like nightfall, overcharged weapons are active and getting the damage boost is possible.

The main advantage I see to this thing is its forgiving nature for dps. If you miss shots on whisper or rockets, your dps decrease is significant. But the microcosm beam has no travel time, and each individual damage instance is less important, so missing a couple of criteria doesn't mean having to reload. Its condition for achieving its damage increase also isn't that contrived. Just pop goldy or thundercrash, or, well and boom, damage. It's a really safe weapon to dps with super consistent numbers. That, to me, is the main advantage of the weapon. Sort of like how people used thunderlord for a while on nezzy because less could go wrong.

I think a big bonus is that you are in full control of the entire damage. Rockets can be over kill or some things just chunk but with the RPM it’s so easy to stop when you’ve done enough damage.
Your maths at the beginning of the video is off. The bonus damage against shields is 250%, not 25%. Kinetics do still benefit from activity surges if your subclass matches the surge no? Also, the 15% dmg boost against unshielded enemies is still there, just not for bosses. Lastly, for all intents and purposes, subjugators are coded to have stasis/strand elemental shields on at all times, so it makes sense for micro cook them with its dmg boost to shields, especially against non-boss ones (where the kinetic boost also applies)
Weirdly enough, I liked using it against the witness since you can hip fire and see the attacks on the ground to make callouts. Very helpful in keeping my teammates alive and my damage wasn't too far off my teammates except the people using hunter with still hunt.
Ehroar, I also used it on Witness and had damage numbers inferior to my teammate, but we also very easily two phased it with no weakness buffs and only one hunter on Still Hunt, it's possible the weapon really is hitting harder than it shows and possibly even registers for boss damage on summary screen. For the surge thing I should remind you that it says kinetic weapons gain the 25% buff if your super matches the surge type.
Use Facet of Order (freezing or suppressing a target reloads your weapons) and you can use Bleak Watcher to freeze the boss, and never have to reload.
Weirdly enough, I liked using it against the witness since you can hip fire and see the attacks on the ground to make callouts. Very helpful in keeping my teammates alive and my damage wasn't too far off my teammates except the people using hunter with still hunt.
Microcosm is THE FIRST:
-heavy trace rifle
-kinetic heavy
-kinetic trace rifle
-heavy kinetic trace rifle
Subjugators get fried for them have a built in stasis/strand shield
Unless I'm mistaken, kinetic weapons still receive the surge buff as long as your subclass matches the surge
Would be interesting to see 6 of them used against a raid boss, I'm wondering if this could be a high FPS thing just like 1k voices back in the day?
It would theoretically get surge benefits, if you match your subclass to the surges on an activity your kinetic weapons get the surge buff
This shield they mentioned here perhaps apply to DR. I wonder if it works well with Brigg too.
Kinetics actually get a buff if the surge matches your subclass. That's what boosts kinetics, so as long as you have a super that matches a surge, your kinetics will be buffed by 25%.
Bungie mentioned it aaaaaaages ago when they moved from singes to surges
This is wrong
Dont forget, using this during Song of Flame makes it build scorch!
I thought song of flame only buffs solar weapons?
@@YeastCorner It buffs solar and kinetic weapons
Too bad it's antisynergy because the damage bump only kicks in once your super ends
@@YeastCorner and kinetics
@@YeastCorner solar and kinetic, but the exotic perk on micro activates when super ends, so you're better off just using burst supers unless dps is really long
5:10 Did you perhaps forget that kinetic weapons get the surge damage boost if your equipped super matches a surge?
Been using it while I farm class item
It does in fact cook
I think it feels good because you shoot a beam, if a rocket needs 3 rockets to kill a major, but 2 rockets are close to the kill, microcosm would be quicker, same with gls, if you have to activate BnS then shoot 3/4 shots, you just beam until they die and never waste time/ammo
This thing deserves intrinsic anti barrier.
It just feels like it would be very fun in gm’s lmao
The Micro straight melts bosses
Kinetic weapons get the surge damage if your subclass element/super matches the surge. so you can get the surge bonus for this gun
If your subclass matches a surge, kinetic weapons deal 25% more damage. Microcosm basically ALWAYS has a surge active, it's just weird to play into for some classes. Pretty sure with prismatic it's just super that needs to match
This is wrong
@@slytheninja TWAB from february 21st 2023, "bringing challenge back to destiny" when they talk about surges and overcharged weapons. It's out there to read up on
turns out, this is only true for activities that have overcharge weapons active so i stand corrected and apologize for the misinfo
Fyi kinetic weapons benefit from surges anytime your subclass (or super on prismatic) matches the surge. So it actually can benefit from surges.
Am I seriously the only one to notice him casually being lucky and getting the exotic class item from a chest? lmao
If the word “cook” was removed from youtube comments and videos. TH-cam would be empty.
oh noo, old man doesn't like new vocabulary
okay boomer
@@atheon- cook is not new vocabulary.
Old man blames language for evolving
@@SlyRocko Lol (see what i did there) at 'evolving'. This is another silly little language fad that will be around for a few months, gets used as clickbait, and is then gone. Anyone remember 'pogchamp'? What about Pepe? Every time I see another come along I laugh, they're all just so....dumb.
Matching your subclass to the surge gives the buff to kinetic weapons
Unless they changed it or it doesn’t apply to heavy kinetics for some reason, bungie said surges will apply to any kinetic weapon if your subclass matches the surge. Yes I mean outside of listed weapons and champ mods. No I don’t know how this works with prismatic
I thought Kinetic Weapons could benefit from elemental surges if your subclass matched the active surge in an activity
If your subclass matches to the surge kinetic weapons get the boost to damage
As long as your super matches the surge, kinetic weapons get the surfer bonus so theoretically it always matches surge
Kinetic weapons become surged if your subclass matches one of the active surges. So this weapon could still be a W.
One rather big correction for the Vid. Surges in activities like Raids also effect Equipped Kinetics, if you match the element to your Super.
I love the new exotic skin for orisa, the arm gun design is fire 🔥
Subjugators and tormentors destroyed via the shield mechanic, for everything else Kinetic primary and special has intrinsic damage buff on anything that's not a boss. I'm curious if microcosm has an intrinsic buff. Bungie did not say it did but it's possible.
Several Million behind Teammates in a Raid doesn't mean sh*t anymore now with duoble Nighthawk Hunters
I think kinetics get "Surged" if you used a subclass with a matching surge. I believe i read that in game
onslaught has trace buff this week and it absolutely cooks the tormentors
Wasnt it a thing with surges that if you had a subclass matching the surge, it increased kinetic damage 25% ?
Did they change it at some point without me noticing?
I could be wrong but I believe that I'd your super energy matches the surge you still get the 25 % bonus damage to kinetic weapons
I could totally see myself swapping this into my mantle of battle harmony agers build. Agers is great but sometimes I need a diff utility weapon in that slot so having an exotic heavy option is low key kinda nice. Bonus points that it’s also the first heavy exotic that ties in super usage I believe.
Something people forget is that rockets and GLs really aren’t that effective against the big dread enemies compared to weapons that can deal crit damage. I personally would rather use this than a linear since those aren’t as forgiving if you miss some shots. Also traces did get a 20% buff against majors this season
