Thanks. It's not too bad to do at all. I have done a couple of these now so I think the answer to your question at this time was "No" I didn't have to modify the headlight but I could be wrong. The second incarnation is with Morimoto 3" projectors that are much better still although about 5x the cost to do. When fitting those I had to cut the backs of the bows up a little. It's easy to get them aligned though as the bolts for the original fixings are across the back of the bowl and from there you can measure and mark 90º to give you the centre upright. Even if they are slightly off, you can slacken the fixing nut on the back and rotate them without stripping the whole lamp down again so it's not too bad at all.

Looks amazing, but I thought the original OEM Projector were plug and play (bar a quick code through STAR) I wasn't aware there was levelling requirements and wiring looms changes?

This has much more light output than the OEM (HELLA E55) projectors do, although you could replace those original projectors with the Evox-r 2.0 and get the nice looking headlights and even better output.

Just bought them on eBay. Search for Mini H1 projectors or similar. They’re around £25 per pair and then choose the bulbs you want. I like to go for a low Kelvin figure (4300k or 5000k) as that gives the strongest light. 6000k is ok but much over that they just go purple and lose intensity. I know I did have LEDs in this iteration but I had to modify them to fit the projectors and it’s more effort than it’s worth so I’d suggest you use HIDs which are cheaper anyway.
I did another set after this and run the Morimoto 3” projectors and better bulbs/ballasts. They are epic and almost as good as the new Mercedes LED headlamps. That’s probably not true, but they are very good. However that was over 4 times the cost and I’m not convinced it’s worth the spend.

Then buy the bulb kit you want to go with it. One word of warning is that you may need to get the car coded for Xenons. For reasons known only to Mercedes they decided to code the halogen cars to slowly (micro seconds) increase the voltage on the headlight bulbs so as to prolong the life of a £2 H7 bulb but the Xenon cars just get 12v straight off. This can cause flicker on some HID kits. I had mine coded anyway as I was at my local Indy having work done. Like I say, some cars are affected and some aren't. Might be worth finding your local Independnt Merc specialist and ask them if they will do it and how much. There's loads of resources on the web for this.
