The Sharks need a generational player to revive the organization. Doug Wilson left this team in the late 90 and early 2000s with the way he and his staff built the team. With the new wave of players coming into the league they need someone to match the caliber of the younger players.

I watched every game of Jonathan Toews NHL career and at his absolute peak from age 20 to 25 (2008 - 2013) He was arguably the best all around player in hockey. Celebrini reminds me of Toews in his draft year. I watched Celebrini play in person with the Chicago steel last year, and he just dominated the US U18 program with 6 first round draft picks on it.

  • @jeffreysimon3390
    @jeffreysimon3390 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

BU season ticket holder here: Everything Shannon said is spot on. Mack is a creative playmaker with a lethal one-tee when the puck is in his wheelhouse. He's very responsible in his own zone seeing some PK time and is unafraid to block shots. His faceoffs are okay and will probably improve with added strength. Also, The San Jose tie is even stronger with BU alum Mike Grier as GM.
As for the other guys mentioned - Aiden looks solid and is developing well BU is overloaded with right-shot D so sometimes he has to play his off side. There's an occasional hiccup but fore the most part he seems unbothered. Graf does have a higher PPG but he plays in the ECAC which is a weaker conference than Hockey East. BU's strength of schedule is currently ranked 2nd in the country. Quinnipiac's is 15th.

    Hey HG,
Welllll....I'm just a little late in viewing this video so excuse me. hahaha As of now the miracle Sharks fans were praying for has happened and we have the number one over all pick this year for the first time in franchise history. I can tell you as you well know we are absolutely over the moon and while weird things happen on draft day everyone expects us to pick Celebrini and I can't imagine a scenario where the Sharks would trade away number 1 can you? I mean if you're San Jose the only way I would give up that pick is if somebody were to offer me a top prospect projected to be a top 6 forward or top pairing defenseman AND another number 1 and at least a couple of other high picks (a 3nd and a 2nd or another 1st?).
If the Sharks did this type of trade it is likely that Mike Grier would lose his job for denying the Sharks fans Celebrini. I understand that would be a huge let down but, if the right trade were offered would you consider it? I don't know if I could pull that trigger if it were my call.
Thanks for another great video HG.
    Cheers,
    Peter St. John

Celebrini isn’t a generational talent like Bedard. So let’s just get that out of the way. He definitely still has a ton of potential though.
I’m thinking like 75-85 point potential with a solid two-way game. Thus, he has franchise number one centerman potential for sure.
Don’t think he’ll ever be a superstar like top 20 player in the league where he’s putting up 100+ points a season. Definitely not. But he’s going to be a great player.

Can someone please explain why the NHL drafts players so young? It seems like it’s way more of a crapshoot than it needs to be. Fans have to wait, bodies need to fill out, skills need to develop…when you could just wait a few years and enter the draft when you intend to play in the NHL the following season…
There could be guys like Bedard, granted exceptional status but why not wait til 21-22 when you have a way better idea as to what kind of player they’ll be?

The NHL has historically relied on the Canadian junior system to stage their prospects, rather than a college system. The expectation was that you moved from junior to pros directly. The Canadian college sports programmes aren't seen as anything special compared to major junior hockey. Most players finish major junior by their 19-20 year.
I believe the draft eligible year used to be a year later but they moved it back to 18 around Gretzky coming into the league. Players wanted to get paid sooner if they could.
Compared to NBA/NFL, very few NHL draft picks step into the league straight out of draft (

@@cdfmmcc thank you for the info!
To your last point, that’s kind of what I was thinking too. Similar to juniors, guys like Bedard, Crosby, McDavid, could be granted “exceptional status” and could be eligible for the draft at 18.

As a Ducks fan I don't want to sound too greedy, but its potentially super nasty what could happen if the Ducks draft Celebrini. Potential lineups of:
    Zegras Carlsson Gauthier
    Celebrini McTavish Terry

Seems like this draft might be on the weaker side, although there a few high-end forwards and several good defenseman. I think Celebrini should be maybe a step below a Jack Hughes from the highlights and projections I’ve seen.

Celebrini and Bedard play a similar style of hockey. Relying on a deceptive lightning quick release, that's highly accurate and they're able to dangle all over the ice. However, neither of them remind me of Martin St. Louis, which is how you actually have to play when your tiny. They can try to dance all over the ice, but eventually they'll walk into a brick wall and break bones, as we've seen with Bedard. Not my type of player.. but for the people who want the refs to win them games, I'm sure that they will be all the rage.

As a longtime NCAA fan, I don't see the hype around Celebrini. He's on a stacked BU team. Not to mention, those stats in the WJC are inflated, when Canada were beating up on those smaller countries. I don't think he's worth all this...

Buddy hasnt watched hockey in his life ever lol.
Led the USHL in points as a U17 and was leading the NCAA in scoring as a U18 before the World Juniors. Before yapping about "mUh weaker competition" how come Canadas other forwards didnt show up on the scoresheet at all outside of Celebrini? He accelerated his schooling to play up a level from USHL and is going to shatter Toews' U18 record in NCAA scoring. He drives the bus for that BU team if you even had a pair of eyes and watched lol.

Also, if he "drives the bus" for BU, how come no one defended him after he got his shit rocked against Lowell?

@@ThatGuy1001000 because that whole Canadian team was ass. Buddy youve never watched hockey in your life, *TEAMS* win championships in hockey and not individuals, basic math and logic seems to not be your forte however.
Also lol at this weaker competition argument. BU has to face BC in Hockey East and that team is loaded with a good chunk of the US gold medal team coming from that squad, everytime ive watched BU play them he has outshined everyone on both rosters (BU is also really good with Hutson, Willander, etc.). The bottom half of the table in HE is nowhere near to being the worst in the nation and UMass Amherst, Providence, and Maine all have good teams this year, while UNH, Merrimack and Vermont are all at or above .500 and are all far better teams than whatever Latvia and Germany could ice, even then remind me which player aside from Celebrini had a 5 point game against either of those teams please?
If youre going to lie about knowing anything before spewing an opinion that doesnt matter, at least say so.
