    personally i think the Sharks should bring the young guys up ....Smith , Celebrini , Musty , Mukhamadullin and any one else , and they HAVE some others , that's NHL ready at let them learn and grow together as a unit ....the tuff times makes you stronger and if you can't handle the tuff times you don't belong . i could see Celebrini end up being the leader of the " Young Guns " group . there will be a learning curve the first half of the year but i think buy the second half the guys will start coming together and by the following year , with a year under their belts , they will be a more cohesive unit and a better team ....a Sharks fan living in Utah for the past 19+ years...and now will be able to see my team again , thank you NHL !

    As a sharks fan, really excited to get Mack. I love Will Smith but I was a little nervous having him be our 1C, for some reason I just don't see that role being the best fit for him even though he's incredibly talented. Having Mack and Smith as 1C/2C is such a killer combo that has the potential to be really lethal. Honestly no preference as to whether he goes pro or does another year at BU; would love to see him on the sharks this year, which means more than likely that will smith would join the roster, but also not opposed to taking their development a little slower and not rushing them like we did with Ferraro (obviously different talent level there). I think neither option is bad for their development and trust that Grier & Co will do the best thing needed.
    As a hockey fan in general, this draft is going to be so exciting. This is my first year really diving into prospects and watching/reading lots of scouting reports and profiles on players so I'm excited to see who goes where. Love that there isn't a clear consensus after Mack and with so many talented D-men, we might see some really talented forwards fall to the 10's.

    I think the Sharks will sign him even though that means his growth could be severely stunted by joining a team who regularly gets dominated. The risk of injury is the specter I fear most whether in college or the NHL. If I had it my way, Smith and Celebrini would spend one more year in college with no regression. Let them grow and mature from the very young kids they are. I hope that when they do come to the NHL that we have a couple solid veterans to show them the ropes and help teach them what life will be like. After 35 years of being a Sharks fan (from the second we heard rumors of their coming), I would hate to see either derailed by things that can be controlled.

    I see a lot of people saying he has nothing more to learn at the college level, Grier has said this, and as far as development goes I wouldn't disagree. But I wouldn't mind if he spent a year at college just to soak up the college life or go to the ahl to slow things down a bit, seems like things are moving so fast for him. From what I've seen from his interviews, he doesn't give me the vibe of wanting to make the nhl asap. Unsure if it's just typical interview reservedness, or that he doesn't want to stop being 'young' just yet. We could still benefit from another tanking season. Or 2.

    Hey HG,
    As a long time Sharks fan I think I would prefer to see Celebrini and Smith return to BC and BU respectively because the Sharks are in for another rough season AND these two dynamic young players are not going to be able to turn the fortunes of the franchise around by themselves along with William Eklund. Too many deficiencies for the Sharks even with their considerable help.
    The other concern I have is given their youth I don't want to see either of these guys getting the veteran "welcome" to the NHL by other players around the league. I am still pissed at Dustin Brown for that knee on knee hit of Thomas Hertl. That hit by Brown caused Tommy permanent life altering damage and will undoubtedly affect his longevity in the league. Yeah, its not all that common for young players to get injured in their rookie year but, let me throw two more names out: McDavid and Bedard.
    I would prefer these two young men get another year stronger and a little more willy about protecting themselves particularly since the Sharks are still likely to be mostly a bad team next season. Thanks HG.
    P.s. As of today Will Smith has made the choice to sign with the Sharks and start his pro career so that choice has been made at least in so far as Will Smith is concerned.

    The physical growth/maturation is going to happen regardless of where they end up playing, and with or without them the Sharks are still going to be pretty bad in 2024-2025. So to me the only question is whether they can further develop their skills/game playing another season against NCAA players. If playing at the NCAA level isn't going to challenge them meaningfully, and they're just going to spend the season dominating college kids, then bring them up to the NHL now. But if they can still hone their game against NCAA-level talent, then sure, let them stay there another season.

    I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest one top 5 draft pick will likely be Austin Elliot (G) from the Saskatoon Blades.
    The ONLY team to remotely challenge a MJ Warriors team this playoffs. The Warriors first and only league title.
    And Elliot was 100% the biggest reason Saskatoon was as competitive in that series as they were.
    Tons of teams could use a goalie with pressure experience, and his slimmer build is offset by his height and buffeted by the fact he's a goalie.

    I don't think in general, 18 year olds should be playing in the NHL. This kid won the hobey at 17, which is crazy so he probably doesn't need much more. I think one more year in college sounds OK. He definitely sounds ahead of the curve. I don't know how it would benefit him to be on the worst team in hockey, or for San Jose long term.
    I won't be shocked when he's playing for the Sharks next year, however. :)

However, I think if you give him first line minutes in the NHL he will have a hard adjustment. He has a lot to learn about winning in close situations, they didn't win a tournament this year at all. Beanpot Lost, Hockey east Lost to BC, lost in the Frozen Four first round! Why not let him go back one more year and learn a thing or two about winning championships?

      @@wild_insomnia yes you did. But the first part of your comment said "Of course he should be in Sharks' roster next season". You said that after saying to look at Johnston not playing a minute in the AHL. But Johnston didn't play in the NHL until the year after he was drafted. And he couldn't play in the AHL because he wasn't old enough. So your comment is confusing. You gave an example of a player that that implies Celebrini should go back to school. Then say he should play in the NHL next year. And then flip again and say he should go back if the 25 draft is good so the Sharks get a high pick. Do see why what wrote is confusing on if you think he should go back to school or not?

    • @fv3837
      @fv3837 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I understood what he's trying to say, he's saying that Johnson seemed to play well in the NHL despite being a teen and not having time in the AHL so that should make a case for Maklin to play but he also stated that there is no reason to have him play on the sharks if Grier and company decide that the 25th Draft is worth another tank.

    • @angushiltz4880
      @angushiltz4880 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@fv3837 but using Johnston as an example doesn't fit. Johnston didn't play in the NHL at 18 like Celebrini would be doing. Johnston developed for another year and came to Dallas at 19. So it makes no sense to use him as an example for Celebrini to play in the NHL this season. Johnston is an example of why Celebrini should go back to the NCAA for another year.

    Seems like so-called “generational talent” is coming up every year or two these days. IMO NCAA hockey has many more college teams with talented players than a decade or two ago. You could count the teams headed deep in the Frozen Four playoffs on just one hand. Plus, the AHL is much more respectable now. Lots of people follow the Calder Cup playoffs, whereas back then most NHL hockey fans didn’t know anything about the minors. This bodes well IMHO for another expansion round to 36 teams maybe.
