Here is my leader recipe. Judging by the conditions we most likely will be dealing with for salmon and steelhead this fall, I have elected to build these leaders entirely with fluorocarbon. I am using MetraRail test pound weight for reference to size. This makes a good foundation for You to modify this leader to match your particular fishing conditions. 40 pound 26'' 30 pound 22'' 25 pound 19'' 20 pound 15' 15 pound 12'' 12 pound 12''
Great level of detail and love the tip on the use of floatent when pulling the knots tight.
Thanks 👍
I've used Chameleon Maxima for building leaders for 25 years now. Is there any advantage in using for tippet only flourocarbon? Tight lines .
Both will work, I use fiourocarbon Because of the condition I fish in
Thank you Jay.
Where do you usually put your split shot on this type of leader?
Normally, Above the Tippet not

Have you changed the line you use for these leaders at all?
As of now, no, But I am constantly experimenting
You seem to have left out the 15 pound section from your leader recipe. Was that just an oversight?
That is an oversight, will fix it as soon as I can thank you
Jay does it matter if you mix fluoro carbon and mono so long as the terminal end is fluorocarbon?
no
I do that all the time.
