Hi! I say that all the time! This has been such a great way to meet new people who share the interest in the hobby. I now have several friends I talk to all the time I met through my channel. I’ll have to check out your channel. Thank you for your comment. 👍🙂
I am impressed with this “train room”. Since i am not a collector (of anything) I have no sense of what it means to acquire such a vast array of wonderful replicas. I wouldn’t have the self discipline to leave that many boxed up. Nice layout….does one use all the display units on a regular rotation?
Hello, thank you. I have my favorites that get run most often. Others I do rotate and run a few trips around the track once or twice a year to keep them in good working order. Several I bought to have representation of to display for a certain railroad or locomotive model.
Will you even have time to run all those engines??? You should video some of them on TH-cam, preferably the new York Central locos! Great video, and can't wait for your updates!
Thank you, the locomotives all get run, the rolling stock and passenger sets are another story though. Never seem to have enough time for unboxing and putting back in the box since not enough room to put everything on shelves, so that is my number 1 challenge around running everything. lol. Thanks for checking out the train room! 🚂🙂👍
Hello Mike that's for having me here Ive had a slight head cold yesterday me and Jenny went to harbor freight and we bought 22 inch wide wood dollies that now will fit under my new train cabinets have installed the knobs on the doors either tomorrow or the weekend if it docent rain I will be getting the lumber from Home Depot . Love your slot car video GOD BLESS LOVE THE SHIRT ;-)
I like your train room I’m a fan of O scale trains and Ho scale but yeah I really like it I don’t know how many trains you got but I’m sure I’m gonna count them all of the O scale locomotives and rolling stock
Very nice. Excellent upgrades. It will be interesting to see what you do with the slot cars. I have around 30 vintage sets, Revell, Eldon, Strombecker, Aurora, Tyco, Life Like and a couple of others. I have a separate room for mine, where I had three sets operating, two 1/32 and one HO. I took one set down after a flood, so I could store my trains for a while. I also have a Motorific set-up in there. Good luck on the improvements and I hope to see the slot cars running in the near future. A great video, as always.
You have some very cool slot car stuff, that would be awesome to see! I like the vintage stuff a lot, my dad had a few sets from when he was a kid I used to run when I was at my grandmas, I was fascinated by them. Finding space will be interesting but I have a few ideas. The storage room was supposed to be the slot car room and then we over collected on Hot Wheels and trains so have been scaling back. We’ve cut our train collection back by about 1/3 so far. Christian likes slot cars better than trains so we will get another slot car layout built. We used to have a four lane HO track that was on a table, all landscaped and stuff. It was a neighborhood hit with the kids. Thanks for checking out the video! Keep on Racing! 🙂🏎️
I’m doing the exact same thing! I over collected and selling off items I’m not running.. I had trains all over.. now I’m organizing and checking all locomotives for functionality..building shelves for display…so trust me I hear you.
That’s great to hear. It was difficult for me to choose what to part with and to part with anything at first. There are only a few things I miss out of a lot sold. It feels so much better though and I still have some more to go that I have never run and don’t fall into the roads or era of the roads I’m keeping. Share your progress some where please, would be great to see!
@@Crazy4TrainsToysNHobbies I’m actually trying to get a TH-cam channel going myself… to review model train products. Yeah for me the cluttering was so bad I couldn’t walk through properly.. I m still in the process of boxing trains back up after I give them a once around the layout… this mess happened during the stupid COVID restrictions when I couldn’t do much… it was fun for a while but the situation got out of hand.
Hi Mike...the train room looks terrific. I noticed your walk around area now is clear and free. I'm big on organization myself...I know what I own and where it's located. The fireplace is intriguing...electrical I'm assuming. Does it give out sufficient heat without the structure getting too hot ? I like the ambiance it gives the room. I presently use a stand up heating tower that oscillates. It's very efficient but a fire place would be a nice touch. Can you give me additional facts on yours ? Thank you and "hello to Christian" ! 👍
Hi James! Thanks for checking out the video. The fireplace is great, its fan blows the heat forward from the vent near the top. The leading front edge of the fireplace above the vent slot is the only thing that gets remotely warm. I ran it without the shelf above it a couple nights to see how it did, then put the shelf back up and the shelf doesn’t even get warm and the cars on the shelf are cold to the touch. It’s rated at 1500 feet for heating which I’m more than that but was really only needing a couple degrees warmer. I run it with the heat off for ambiance when the warmth isn’t needed. It was on clearance at Lowe’s for $125 down from $229. I have two floor standing units and this one does slightly better than those two.
Talk about organized! All that shelving and woodwork (especially under the layout) - did you buy that or build it yourself? Particularly interested in how the under layout shelves are attached to the sides with screws into the edge of the shelf. Hard to do without splitting the shelf end when drilling into it. I'm guessing pilot holes right?
Hi, thanks for checking out the video. Yes, I have built everything in the Train Room myself. From framing up the walls to building the shelves and layout table. Yes, pilot holes for sure. The shelves are made from 1”x6” and the framing for the table is made from 1”x4”. I made a frame for the shelves and then added the shelving, and the entire piece presses into the framing on the table. I only needed one screw on reach side of the shelf framing to attach to the table framing for the shelf that’s stationary. Then just the latch and the piano hinge for the shelf that can open.
Hi, thanks for joining the Channel. A appreciate your comment. We have four modern Diesel Roads that we collect multiple models in, KCS, BNSF, NS, and UP. BNSF AC6000’s, ES44’s, GP60’s, Dash9 which is weathered and my favorite. When I bought it the shell was cracked so I filled it and weathered it, now on of my absolute favorite diesels. Welcome to the channel. 🙂👍
@shaunrobertson1857 you’re welcome. It is very costly for sure. I buy a lot of my stuff preowned to save on cost. Even then locomotives cost more than other monthly household payments, it’s crazy.
@ARMYVETT that’s great to hear, I started out in O with a 4’ x 8’ in the garage with a 031 loop and 042 loop. Then went to 8’ x 8’ with 031, 042, 054 and an elevated 072 loop so I could run some bigger locomotives. Then 8’ x 14’ in the train room, expanded to 16’, then again to the 21.5’ because I started running 21” passenger cars. I hope you share your layout progress one day! Thank you, Mike
@Crazy4TrainsToysNHobbies It's a decent show I'd say. Mostly HO and N scale stuff, but there's also a number of people selling O scale stuff as well. Several layouts set up as well, along with the Sipping and Switching one. Of course your opinion of the show may differ from mine if you actually see it for yourself. If memory serves me correctly I've seen a few German HO scale bits there as well once or twice.
@SOU6900 sounds like our local train shows, a lot of N and HO, and mostly older O gauge stuff with very little G, S, and Standard gauge mixed in. Opposite of York.
@Crazy4TrainsToysNHobbies I'm already hearing next falls show should be a bit larger. I remember the spring show this year seemed to have a bigger O gauge turn out with most of those vendors in an overflow area.
Mike 1:32 slot cars!? I am looking into these right now and that’s what’s going to be on new layout as a race scene. My dad was big into afx and that’s what we had and still do But now I want 1:32 for going beside the o. Are you Scalextric or Carrera ?

Hi! Everything still works and it didn’t have any initial issues. Full transparency though, it has less than 20 minutes run time on it. I probably should have run it more while under warranty since I’ve seen so many other people report issues with theirs.
