Darn it. So close to a real name reveal (0:56)! 😂 I love that Jagr Eastern All-Star card. If I’m not mistaken, I believe he’s still playing professional hockey at the ripe old age of 52.
I was just getting out of collecting when Stadium Club was starting, so I never joined the club. I think I only bought packs from baseball the first year in 1991 that were printed with Kodak! Never seen those foil cards and maybe they were a pre cursor to the chrome cards that came out with 1993 Finest in baseball. Stadium Club has always been about the images and not as much about the rookies. It went away for a few years after 2003, came back for one year in 2008 and then again in 2014.
@, definitely elevated the look and feel of cards from the old cardboard stock that Topps used. All started by the Upper Deck company in 1989. I think anything pre 1989 is considered vintage in my mind now. I used to think that was 1980.
Back when All-Star Game uniforms looked like actual uniforms and not the ugly monstrosities that the NHL came up with in later years (see 2015 and 2024 for monstrosity examples). I'm sure that I have that 50-card set somewhere, but I don't remember the chrome-ish cards, so maybe I bought the set minus those cards (or I just have a bad memory and I do have those cards).

Haha, yeah, now you know…I’m Batman! The all star game set is sweet. I sent the Brodeur in for grading.

@@kenscardboard that sounds right, I have some of the sets that I put together, but little value. It was something new and a big deal at the time.

@ anything with gum. I think the last year was 1991 for Topps. Also agree with what you said, pre 1989 Topps/OPC for the silver age of hockey cards.
I need those
