AHS has always seemed to have a closing problem. Every season starts good, offers something different, then slowly loses its appeal and drags on until it dies a slow death
bigbdizzle2 each season starts with promising storylines and exciting characters, then they just add more and more and more stories and more characters, and the end of each season is a clusterfuck of loose ends with more questions than answers.
That’s what I’ve been saying! Murder House only worked pretty well cause it was shorter. Even my favorite seasons dragged on far too long and the writing just got messier and messier throughout the season. There’s so much useless filler I get bored and can’t pay attention anymore. I still haven’t finished Hotel and I started it over twice. Also Hotel confuses me cause every guy looks the same. Ryan Murphy definitely has a type.
Apocalypse honestly could've been good if they could've picked a plotline? Like they tried to do way to many things. If they had stuck with "nuclear winter, they're stuck in a bunker" could have been creepy, developed well, and played on modern fears.
A TV show based on Vault-Tec from the Fallout universe would have been perfect. That's what I expected, maybe show us how people on the surface are doing too.
Yeah and they could base what happens in that bunker on like weird human experiments that've happened throughout history. Sometimes human nature and psychology is scarier than "oo supernatural satan with M A G I C A L powers!!11!!!!"
Roanoke is insanely underrated, the formula change was awesome and it’s horrifying in my opinion, especially when it switches to the “reality show/found footage” part of the show.
Just wait til you see 1984. Like they really went all out on Richard Ramirez being the next Tate in terms of fuckability despite irl Richard having rotted teeth (apparently he ate a shit ton of candy in his adult life) and zero fucks for hygiene. Also Montana says in ep 8(?) that Richard never killed kids even though irl Richard's first victim was a 9 year old girl. So historic accuracy be damned.
@@briankaslewicz6130 apparently loads of ppl were attracted to him tho both then and now (with those murder apologists on the internet, lovely) so even tho he was gross even without the rotted teeth and stench, ppl still thought he was hot
It really bothered me when they tried to rekindle Violet and Tate's relationship and make Tate a good guy in this to justify his actions from the first season. "Oh it's ok Violet. You can be with him again. It wasn't him, it was the house." Um, yeah...he still shot kids at a school though, burned his neighbor, fucked Violet's mom and impregnated her. That was just a bad move altogether. I guess if I ever commit a horrendous crime, I can just blame my house while playing Shaggy's "It Wasn't Me".
@@lusca7148 exactly, he pretended to be her husband. That's rape by fraud/deception, which people have gone to jail for. She did not consent to have sex with Tate.
i loved 1984. Personally, for me it really reminded my of like a campy slasher film. Although it did have its flaws (which season doesn't) where they bring in other elements, but if you just ignore all of that, it basically is just a slasher series
The worst part about that random baby being the 'spawn of satan' in the end is that it completely goes against what was said in Murder House. The only reason Langdon was satan's spawn was because he was the conceived from a living and a dead person
but satan does not want to lose,so timothy and emily dna were meant to make the antichrist and they were destined to fall in love. That the reason why they were protected in the beginning
@@jiayi5829 Yeah but that's an awful plot. "They were destined to make the next antichrist" is such a boring reason. You can justify anything with "fate", it deflates all tension and reason and removes any choice that characters may have. The antichrist being born out of certain conditions is way more interesting
imo the idea of a nuclear war, getting an alert on your phone, living the rest of your days in a bunker, its a genuinely scary and interesting story that could be pretty realistic. Unfortunately they butchered it terribly
I think it could have been perfect if they had maintained the whole season that way. Create an elaborate bunker system with otherwise normal people who found their way in because of their ability to help humanity survive. Start having weird, paranormal shit happen there. Make it a matter of staying underground locked away with some malevolent force that can kill them versus risking contamination above ground. It would be claustrophobic, effective, relate to how people felt at the time of its release thanks to COVID and the initial lock downs, and would still be relevant given the worsening relations with certain nations we've had previous problems with before (ahem). But they did what they always did and stuffed so much in that it overwhelmed the feeling of dread that the beginning episodes of most seasons manage. I remember initially watching Asylum, getting to Ann Frank, and just being so annoyed. But then we moved on to other seasons, and that is one of the least over the top and bloated seasons in this series. Watching this show is often an exercise in picking out missed opportunities.
I saved this season to watch last because it just felt too real & sounded terrifying. And then it just turned into Satans kid having daddy issues but also the world died i guess lol
^^This. It's intentionally leaning on camp and fan service. I think it's a really amazing nod to AHS fans. I was smiling ear to ear at some of the writing and hyperbole in Apocalypse, tbh.
Wilhelmina is probably a reference to Dracula, and Venable is definitely a reference to Violet and Sebastian Venable from Tennessee Williams's "Suddenly, Last Summer." In the play Violet Venable is a rich old society lady trying to have her traumatized niece Catherine lobotomized so she won't be able to reveal how Violet's son Sebastian truly died while they were vacationing in Spain the previous summer. Turns out he'd use his hot cousin to lure in poor local boys (without her knowledge), then pay them with food for sex. Eventually his victims chase him down and tear him apart in front of Catherine (it's also heavily implied they ate him) and that's why Catherine has PTSD and blocked out the memory. When Catherine finally reveals the truth, Violet goes mad. It's a crazy fucking play/movie, especially for something from the 1950s.
It really confused me at first because the same actors were playing different people ... In the same season. It was really weird. I'm glad I wasn't the only one who couldn't keep track well

The strangest thing about every season on AHS is it seems like the characters don't really digest the things that happen to them or around them, they just let the bad things happen and then mentally reset without being very traumatised (like happy gay fieri after tearfully murdering his gma who... wanted to peg him?)
It sucks that looking back at AHS Apocalypse after witnessing the newer unfinished messy train wreck seasons, that you realize at least Apocalypse kinda sorta tried a little at least.
I feel like Satan is so overused he isn’t even frightening now, sort of like zombies. Just tiresome. Edit: also wow, APPLES and SNAKES, I WONDER what the director is trying to say?! The references here are so *painfully* direct and obvious it hurts me.
@Miguel Mauro Train to Busan had great zombie design but terrible characters, like the dude that stands to stare at someone getting bitten instead of immediately running, or when he tried to lock out the dude that saved them all earlier on
Apocalypse was awful except for that one scene in the final episode when Angela Bassett walked out as Marie Laveau and said “she needed the help of a powerful voodoo queen. And that ain’t you sis.”
Myrtles the shit! Go suck a peanut loved loved loved apocalypse and I got hooked on American horror story with Coven and the witches! And Ga ga is nothing short of amazing! What ever dude!
So I think 1984 is one of the best seasons of AHS. Really liked the different eras taking place and it just really tapped into that 80s slasher vibe. I really enjoyed it.
its definitely top 4. Maybe tied with coven. Everyone ignores it and focuses on 1-4. There's not a dull moment and everything ties together. I was expecting it to tumble after episode 6 but it managed not to flatline. A little gratuitous with the slasher stuff but it nails the vibe.
Im really really entertaining to watch, but it's the same thing, they get a little bit lost in the plot and constantly recreat murder house's plot twist. Also, waay to obssesd with Ramirez, if you wanna talk about 80s real serial killers OK, but why just choose one to be a hot interesting character, kinda dumb and disrespectful
Lord of the Flies scenario in an enclosed space. Fallout's stories like these before. There's that whole Russian experiment story. It's so easy it just writes itself.
That's why I started watching, the actual horror stories. Asylum was playing one night (marathon), I woke up like this is some creepy shit. Instantly hooked. It's blah now
It’s definitely giving very much Ryan Murphy made this for Ryan Murphy and completely ignored the audience. I’m sorry but there were so many holes and just unsatisfying loose ends here. I see a huge disconnect between this season and the rest of American Horror Story.
@i like alex wolff and don't get me started on Michael. His character isn't good, it's boring. The child who was the spawn of satan in Good Omens was a better version of the Anti-Christ than Michael
@@SallyJesseRaphael420lol Esp. when he appears to ppl who aren't gay/queer or at least have a leather fetish (which'd still be like- what...?). Make it a "plague demon" or a "parasitic entity" of some kind, a force of shame, ignorance & hubris, slowly consuming one's life force when it appears, for instance. Like how is a tall, bulked-up leather guy who literally kicks in doors & suffocates you in the shower supposed to showcase a *slow* death by infection? 🤨
I think this season just needed to be two different seasons. One that's actually about the nuclear apocalypse and one about "the darkness". They were just trying to tell too many stories at the same time.
I felt like Roanoke was like me writing a paper in highschool. Finishing but then realizing it's not long enough and trying to add more. Like all the main characters die, so they introduce more. But then they all die. Rinse and repeat.
This season was honestly PURE fan service for massive fans, especially fans of coven. Coven is my favorite season tbh because the story is my favorite. But seriously, Apocalypse had sooo much potential to be amazing, then squandered it.
I know right? Why did they not focus on the apocalyptic theme? There is so much they could have done with that but then just made a coven two. It could have easily been its own stand alone season with bringing back the spawn of satan from the first season, that would have been fine we did need a season to know what happened after that... But this was not that season...
same coven is a great season and even though i hated madison because i still ship the whole violet and tate thing, emma still gave a great act as madison and as well as the murder house season but the hotel is pretty boring one and i hate evans voice cause it sound so fake even if i dedicated my whole life to evan peters also it could have been good if they just focused on the story of the satan guy instead then wast episodes to character who will just die and does not do anything to the story its so dumb and stupid like they wasted money and our time watching those episodes and watching evan peters get overdoes with too many roles
I really thought Apocalypse would have been about a bunch of spoiled, entitled people slowly losing their minds and killing each other out of frustration and entitlement, like a Lord of the Flies type story where the two normal people would serve as the audience POV. I thought that would have been really good... and then this happened, those two kidnapped kids didn't matter, and now there was a whole new plot to learn. If they had picked one story or the other, it might have been better.
And then all that's left afterwards are the greys, who do not know or care why their former slavers killed each other but are much better equipped to survive than those dumb, entitled, pricks for the sole reason that they actually know how to take care of themselves!
Yes that’s what I was looking for that whole “lord of flies” losing it or the hopelessness of “the road” just plain old survival of the fittest would’ve went down much better. Imo
the two kidnapped kids DID matter though??? there wasn’t a whole new plot to learn either , it gave you the plot, the story progresses backwards from a certain point exploring the main antagonists backstory and the witches attempts to stop what happened , and they do, and the the kidnapped kids meet, have a kid and the timeline of the antichrist rising repeats itself. There was one singular and strong plotline that was executed pretty well and y’all still act so confused 😭
Apocalypse was an odd season. The first couple episodes are too weird and then the ending sucks, but I actually really liked the middle episodes that dealt with Michael's past. I just really liked Cody Fern as Michael, I thought he was great in that role.
For me, the characters weren't that interesting, but the plot of survivors of a nuclear holocaust is filled with so many opportunities for real horror and terror. Then then they returned to fucking magic and shit went off the rails real fast. The magic plot it's good on its own, but you can't mix this too expecting to make sense.
@@Pocchari In hindsight calling it Antichrist would have ruined the "twist" that Michael was legitimately the Antichrist. When I first watched Apocalypse, I had no suspicions that he really was who he was until the flashbacks.
@@michaelsolomon5309 well my best guess is that satan didnt really care about Michael and just thought "eh whatever, let's just make a new antichrist" while Ramirez was doing his work and was somehow more valuable than Michael? But idk
Freak show was amazing to me, and twisty getting killed off personally is what saved it. The conflict, for me at least, was boring and only for shock factor- y'know, scary clown tryna kill a bunch of kids with a sad background. Kinda cliche, happy he got killed off because dandy, in my opinion, was a more dynamic villain and tied into the main story more directly, and the whole god complex was a pretty good way to make this villain so fun to watch, rather than trying to make it pityful. Its story was good, and all the characters were dynamic to me, and the twists were really good.
The worst part is that this season had so much potential to be so epic and large and could have brought the show back from its run of terrible seasons but no...
I wish they'd explained the Adam and Eve rip off, it was never directly addressed why the two of them were there with any detail. They got abducted/saved from a nuclear apocalypse and then nothing, wtf is the point. And if they gave birth to another anti-Christ but one already existed in the original timeline then wtf was the point of them surviving, who selected them and why etc.
I think that 1984 brought it back but only towards the end. Like after ep 6 it got good but it also didn’t rly feel like Ahs. It felt kinda like scream queens.
I was really hoping that apocalypse would be kind of like a boy and his dog show us some people slowly going insane in an underground bunker but instead we got witch stevie nicks singing
Ryan Murphy is a really bad storyteller. He knows how to start something good, but then it gets really messy and always wraps up in the simplest, most predictable way.
I definitely agree that Jeff and Jess spawning the next anti-christ was ridiculous. What made Michael Langdon so special was the fact that he was conceived between a ghost and human in the first season. In Apocalypse, they just threw that entire reasoning out the window for the sake of some sort of plot twist.
No that’s the ENTIRE REASON why they were picked. That’s what the dna ancestry test mentioned in the first episode was about. If anything happened to Michael, they were best suited to reproduce another Antichrist. It’s not STATED but you’re supposed to put it together
@@hatchetfieldconnoseur but that wouldn't make sense either because, if say he was a ghost from eating the poison apple, the one time we see him die, the entire season was undone because the witches killed Michael before he was powerful so the apocalypse never happened, Jeff and Jess never get picked up by the MIB and meet, or, continuing with the poison apple theory, they would both be ghosts and thus no mortal mother to birth an antichrist.
We can’t assume that the anti christ can only be made by that exact combination only in Murder House. There are other haunted places like the hotel,Roanoke, the camp in 1984,Mandrake in freakshow made ghosts.
Apocalypse was decent, I like how it tied in Murder House, Coven, and Hotel; however that ending was completely unnecessary and legit pissed me off. I get it's supposed to say, "you can't change the future" or some variation of that but they should have made it a lot more interesting if they were to go that route.
My favourite season was Asylum. It had alien abduction, serial killer psychopath, homophobia in the 80s scenario. So many plotlines. Then was freakshow. Freakshow hit it out of the park for me. But once Jessica Lange left, it did not feel the same
They should've made Billie an angel instead of a witch and done an epic apocalyptic fight/ showdown. It would explain why she's so much more powerful than every other witch, even past Supremes and it would've made more sense
I was think/hoping for that too. An angle would've been super cool, but what if Billie was a reincarnation of Christ? Eh? Maybe all the witches and warlocks were former Angeles who forgot who they were. Whatever.
Y'all mean Cordelia right? Billie is the medium. She is not a witch, she is not a psychic like at all pretty sure she even corrected someone when called one. Billie was the chick who could speak to ghosts in Hotel and Murder House. Cordelia is The Witch and was The Supreme by the end of Coven.
The real horror story is how it became an ass show. I thought I was the only one who started to dislike the show. Like I thought it was just my taste. I think a lot of people fell off during freakshow though.

Why would they grab the one guy for genetics if they’re not even allowed to have sex? What’s the point of the genetics if they don’t intend to make babies with them?
Lol I have no idea what your talking about or what the shows about but just wanna say you can still have kids via insemination without having sex in general And yes alot of people do that
Bongwater Nico If I’m gonna be completely honest, I wasn’t even paying enough attention to know if they said anything 😂 still confuses me that they wouldn’t let anyone have sex at all though, seems like it was really only implanted for a shoehorned conflict.
LoveTheWorld I suppose that’s fair, yeah. I think they could have done something creepy then with the guy’s genetics, like make super soldier abominations or some shit. That would have actually been kinda cool.
Yeah I was confused as well but turns out it's Sarah Paulson's character, the one that runs the bunker that decided the no-sex rule, it was not a rule intended by the cooperative or whatever it was called 🤷🏻♀️
I thought the whole point of Michael being the antichrist was because he was the child of a ghost, but then the ending suggests it could be literally any kid. Also the Tate redemption arc is the worst fan service of the whole season.
I think the ending when it shows Emily and Timothy having a baby and him being the next antichrist is bc at the beginning they tell us that they were taken bc of the genetic makeup and is fit for survival soooo when they had their baby it created another michael if that makes sense
I agree with everything you said and the murder house soul trapping idea was amazing! yet this season is my guilty pleasure, I'm just obsessed with coven, they could make an entire season about witches on a cooking show and I would watch it hahaha
Fucking love how you make her name sound like an antidepressant. "Do not take Willaminamenamol™ if you are nursing, pregnant, or may become pregnant. Side effects of Willaminamenamol™ may include ennui, Satan worship, and the desire to rewatch the earlier seasons that you enjoyed."
I like how they milked the snakes of their venom and then injected it into the apples expecting it to poison them, that's not how venom works. That's why there's a distinction between poison and venom in the first place.
Apocalypse could have been so good, the premise was interesting being the end of the world and all. They could have done so much with that. I actually liked the first few episodes. Once it took a complete turn and things weren’t making sense, I was mentally checked out.
@@infamousgamer767 Yes! And don’t get me wrong, “Coven” was one of my favorite seasons. It just had nothing to do with Apocalypse and they forced it anyways. Why they didn’t just stick to people surviving in a bunker is beyond me.
@@JaxBox1 I would have loved to have seen just people surviving in a bunker. Even if it wasn’t the government that gathered them. A regular family running to a bunker and surviving, and having weird shit happen would have been very entertaining.
I kept watching waiting for the moment they would come back to the present, and when it was only two episodes left I was too far into it to not know how it ended. It was just disappointing.
For me, AHS was ruined when it basically became Scream Queens. Not that there’s anything wrong with the campy scream queens but that’s not what the appeal of AHS was to begin with- the appeal of AHS is that it was played pretty straight with compelling characters that could be decently creepy.
I’m currently watching this season again and agree with a lot of what you’ve said here. I do appreciate Cody Fern’s acting in this season, even thought the writing was horrible.
And the witches were done dirty and were saved by a chick with a dumb bobble hairstyle and is already the to-be supreme when what's her face had only got it a few years back??? Why.
I just realized that it can go either way. You can say that the stew is the person Stu, or that the person Stu, has been turned into stew. Either way that quote is the best part of the 9 seasons so far.
right, especially the fact that they were chosen because their genes are perfect for repopulating the earth or whatever but they're not allowed to fuck?? or they die??? what was even the point?
Danny Funez which technically in itself doesn’t make any sense cause from what i vaguely remember the anti christ can only be born from a living and a dead person? but they both survived, i’m not 100% sure if i’m right but was that ever explained like in earlier seasons and i missed it?
I think the biggest mistake was just making apocalypse, coven pt2 Like, the first 3 or 4 episodes of apocalypse before the plot redirected towards the coven girls, were amazing The aesthetics, the tension in the bunker, the mental wear of the situation If they had made apocalypse about being inside the bunker, and made it more of a psychological story it could’ve been one of the best seasons
1984 was literally just the writers going "hey, what if we did a horror season in the 80s?" and then contributed no further ideas, and the costume and set people went all out but then the writers forgot to make a plot
I couldn't get through a single episode without having the urge to spontaneously combust. The plot was sooo predictable and the characters were kinda bland. There was nothing new brought in this season, just recycled garbage that felt overused. I didn't like a single character in this season. There's a murderer on the loose...okay where have I seen that before? 🧐🤔🤔 Oh yeah EVERY SINGLE OTHER SEASON, but I'll still watch the next one so 🤷🏽♀️ (ps sorry I addressed this to you but I'm just ranting, 😅) pls let me know what u think
The Darkness’s real name sounds far too similar to Michael Landon, the man who played the father in Little House On The Prairie. THAT is the most upsetting part about this season
I think my favorite season was Asylum. It had so much going on, but I still liked the background stories and the ending. A lot of the scenes just really stuck with me.
Same. They did all this fanservice crossover stuff in Apocalypse just for the Freak show/Asylum Pepper crossover to be waaayy better and more impactful
@@julia82 i loved freakshow. Hotel was good but had way too many plots. Lady gaga did great. Roanoke was really great but a slow burner. CULT was crap imo, the acting was good though. Apocalypse. I wish they stuck with the actual apocalypse theme but I I to admit, the coven and murder house cross over I loved. 1984 I really liked, Emma Roberts always does a great job. Red Tide was good but should have been the whole of season 10. Death Valley was mediocre and some of the plot made me laugh, I liked the idea but it could have been done better.
DarkRubberDucky CULT is BY FAR, the best and my most FAVORITE, with Sarah and Evan giving their BEST PERFORMANCES. It was the TRUE (modern) AMERICAN horror story. Unashamedly polit/cal, confrontational and paranoid - it went from a sanctimonious l!berâl pandering of the writers to a tour de force of a second half, throwing shocking plot twists at every corner sprinkled with some of the most creatively violent expression of "anger". Just like in real life, it also triggered some very strong emotions on viewers and a lot found it divisive to even continue. But let's be honest, those who actually ranked Cult lower haven't seen it through the end. Because those who actually finished it, had nothing but praise.
I liked Apocalypse, except the ending. It was definitely a love letter to fans of the earlier seasons, so I enjoyed how season 8 tried to tie things together and bring back favorite characters. I get what the showrunners were going for at the end, but I thought the devil needed the antichrist to be born of a ghost and a human woman, per what was said in Murder House. So them being like nevermind, this is actually totally random and it can be any couple was like huh? Maybe they were selected as the new parents because they were noticed in the outpost in the erased timeline.
My problem with the show is that evey season starts good, but then I get bored and sick of it halfway through. I had to force myself to finish every single season
Same. They drag out far too long and try to fit too many storylines into a series. They'd do much better by focusing on one or two things and creating a really good story, but instead it always devolves into a convoluted mess.
Nathaniel Arndt ur right honestly if they ever did make a steel ball run live action then he would be Funny, I mean the characters seem like if Funny was trying to summon the devil instead of Jesus
1. Asylum 2. Coven 3. Murder House 4. New York City 5. Freak Show 6. Hotel 7. Double Feature 8. Cult 9. 1984 10. Roanoke 11. Apocalypse The top three are very hard to rate. They are all equal to be honest.
I remember telling my friend that if they were gonna do the whole anti-christ spawn of satan thing they should have just gone all out. Introduce the four horsemen, get the second coming of Christ involved in some way (maybe have the girl that goes back in time be the second coming), have those two teens with perfect genes or what ever be Christ's archangels, have the final battle between heaven and hell be some shoot out. Just go all the way you know, probably would have been better because it would have been creative at least
awesome take! that would have been a great show! you should submit that to AHS, you never know, they might actually do it and they're clearly not coming up with any good ideas.
It was good until they killed everyone and re introduced the witches. What was the point of the Adam and eve character, why make that lady a robot, malory should've been an angel not a witch
I agree, Malory should’ve been a witch but the rest of your statement was already explained in the show. Adam and Eve was from the cooperative to save Michael if the plan back fires and he wanted the only person who treated him nicely by his side even tho she died
yeah that season had some potential to be good then all of a sudden they killed everyone and introduced completely different characters with a different storyline and it went all over the place, and the ending was so fucking dumb
Dionne Fenty voodoo queen did jack shit and the season wouldn’t have been any different without her because she died as quick as she came back in. Was still happy to see her. Ryan’s just lazy.
it’s so funny you named Leslie Grossman’s character in apocalypse Barb, that’s her characters name in the new season NYC, maybe they took some notes from this video on how to improve the series/writing lol
Asylum would be a perfect season for me (I LOVED the setting) if not for the whole alien subplot. I think it's a bit silly and detracts from the tone of the season. It derailed the season a bit for me. But overall it is still the season I enjoyed the most tbh. Granted, it's been, like, almost 10 years since I last watched it so the details may be a little fuzzy, but I remember really loving it and feeling frustrated with the addition of aliens.

Also Montana says in ep 8(?) that Richard never killed kids even though irl Richard's first victim was a 9 year old girl. So historic accuracy be damned.

AHS not keeping good writers was the worst thing. Im sure jessica lange thought the seasons were garbage too.
@@mancalacat6333 Agreed
It really bothered me when they tried to rekindle Violet and Tate's relationship and make Tate a good guy in this to justify his actions from the first season. "Oh it's ok Violet. You can be with him again. It wasn't him, it was the house." Um, yeah...he still shot kids at a school though, burned his neighbor, fucked Violet's mom and impregnated her. That was just a bad move altogether. I guess if I ever commit a horrendous crime, I can just blame my house while playing Shaggy's "It Wasn't Me".

i loved 1984. Personally, for me it really reminded my of like a campy slasher film. Although it did have its flaws (which season doesn't) where they bring in other elements, but if you just ignore all of that, it basically is just a slasher series
I thought it was fine. At least it made sense.

The worst part about that random baby being the 'spawn of satan' in the end is that it completely goes against what was said in Murder House. The only reason Langdon was satan's spawn was because he was the conceived from a living and a dead person
Yup. That's where they lost me too. Like what the heck
but satan does not want to lose,so timothy and emily dna were meant to make the antichrist and they were destined to fall in love.
Omg you're right that never even occurred to me BUT NOW IT WILL BOTHER ME FOREVER DAMMIT!!!
True. Also, how TF did Mallory kill the freaking ANTICHRIST with a car????
imo the idea of a nuclear war, getting an alert on your phone, living the rest of your days in a bunker, its a genuinely scary and interesting story that could be pretty realistic. Unfortunately they butchered it terribly
like the girl and boy we see in episode 1 was so irrelevant

"WILHELMINA VENDABLE"
Don't. He couldn't even refer to Kathy Bates by her real name...and it's Kathy bates ffs.
To be fair "Barb" was actually Coco St. Pierre Vanderbilt. Like goddamn who'd bother to remember THAT?

So I think 1984 is one of the best seasons of AHS. Really liked the different eras taking place and it just really tapped into that 80s slasher vibe. I really enjoyed it.
Yeah i liked 1984 quite a bit.
finally someone who agrees that sure it wasn't THE best, but it was definitely enjoyable to watch!
its definitely top 4. Maybe tied with coven. Everyone ignores it and focuses on 1-4.
There's not a dull moment and everything ties together. I was expecting it to tumble after episode 6 but it managed not to flatline. A little gratuitous with the slasher stuff but it nails the vibe.
I really liked it because of Richard Ramirez. They did such a good job recreating the chase/capture scene.
This season could have been cool. No stupid Satan stuff. Just people losing it in a bunker.

I think this season just needed to be two different seasons. One that's actually about the nuclear apocalypse and one about "the darkness". They were just trying to tell too many stories at the same time.
Heather Woods yes! I completely agree. I wanted more on the “apocalypse” part, the end of the world. That’s what the season is called anyways...
But this was not that season...
same coven is a great season and even though i hated madison because i still ship the whole violet and tate thing, emma still gave a great act as madison and as well as the murder house season but the hotel is pretty boring one and i hate evans voice cause it sound so fake even if i dedicated my whole life to evan peters
also it could have been good if they just focused on the story of the satan guy instead then wast episodes to character who will just die and does not do anything to the story
its so dumb and stupid like they wasted money and our time watching those episodes and watching evan peters get overdoes with too many roles
This season was basically just a sidekick with masse boobs.
Thoughts on AHS: 1984?
coven and murder house are my favourite seasons but i HATED apocalypse 💀
I really thought Apocalypse would have been about a bunch of spoiled, entitled people slowly losing their minds and killing each other out of frustration and entitlement, like a Lord of the Flies type story where the two normal people would serve as the audience POV. I thought that would have been really good... and then this happened, those two kidnapped kids didn't matter, and now there was a whole new plot to learn. If they had picked one story or the other, it might have been better.
lowkey the plot of 1984
And then all that's left afterwards are the greys, who do not know or care why their former slavers killed each other but are much better equipped to survive than those dumb, entitled, pricks for the sole reason that they actually know how to take care of themselves!
@Khalil 8991 It was perfect in its own way :)))
You gotta admit though, this season had the best line in the whole series:
"Im Constance Langdon. And this is *MY* fucking house."

“My powers are waning? Say that again.”

"Fun" is the PERFECT word to describe early American Horror story episodes tbh
Apocalypse was an odd season. The first couple episodes are too weird and then the ending sucks, but I actually really liked the middle episodes that dealt with Michael's past. I just really liked Cody Fern as Michael, I thought he was great in that role.
Yes. I disliked the beginning and honestly the ending just made me sad. It would’ve been better as AHS: Antichrist instead of Apocalypse.
I loved watching her run over his head.

And if they gave birth to another anti-Christ but one already existed in the original timeline then wtf was the point of them surviving, who selected them and why etc.

I think if along with the plot twist, it was revealed that Jeff was a ghost, maybe it would make more sense
For me, AHS was ruined when it basically became Scream Queens. Not that there’s anything wrong with the campy scream queens but that’s not what the appeal of AHS was to begin with- the appeal of AHS is that it was played pretty straight with compelling characters that could be decently creepy.
i like scream queens because it is supposed to be satire on horror movies. And the 3 Chanel's are so bitchy.
AHS doesnt know what it wants to be.
When they threw Leslie Grossman and Billie lourd into every season, not that they're bad atall but it's overkill.
i loved scream queens but it just doesn’t work with AHS🥱
BaeCat . I agree with you !
I’m currently watching this season again and agree with a lot of what you’ve said here. I do appreciate Cody Fern’s acting in this season, even thought the writing was horrible.
I was expecting a bombastic last battle between the witches vs satan but nope... he just got ran over
And the witches were done dirty and were saved by a chick with a dumb bobble hairstyle and is already the to-be supreme when what's her face had only got it a few years back??? Why.
Fiona's death in coven was so anticlimactic
The best part of Apocalypse is “Stu is Stew!”
you mean "the stew is stu"
I just realized that it can go either way. You can say that the stew is the person Stu, or that the person Stu, has been turned into stew. Either way that quote is the best part of the 9 seasons so far.
😯☝️.
😕✊
@@synth3662 the stu is stu
it eez what it eez
Also I don’t like the fact that they never really dove further into the whole perfect genetics thing
right, especially the fact that they were chosen because their genes are perfect for repopulating the earth or whatever but they're not allowed to fuck?? or they die??? what was even the point?
Alle kill me it explained that in the last few minutes of the finale. They have the genetics to make a new antichrist
Danny Funez which technically in itself doesn’t make any sense cause from what i vaguely remember the anti christ can only be born from a living and a dead person? but they both survived, i’m not 100% sure if i’m right but was that ever explained like in earlier seasons and i missed it?
Michael is the son of the latex man and vivian, Which the owner of the freakshow (corneilia**) then adopted.
Forgot her name. Starts with a c lol.
I think the biggest mistake was just making apocalypse, coven pt2
Like, the first 3 or 4 episodes of apocalypse before the plot redirected towards the coven girls, were amazing
The aesthetics, the tension in the bunker, the mental wear of the situation
If they had made apocalypse about being inside the bunker, and made it more of a psychological story it could’ve been one of the best seasons
I think the scariest thing about this season is that there actually are people who hold their phones like that.
Michael Langdon was the only thing I could tolerate in Apocalypse. He’s just visually stunning.
ikr like how is he so attractive
Ugh yesssss
God ive seen so many gifs of him and never knew who he was or what they were from! Damn!!
Cool way to out yourself as artistically shallow. “The show sucked but the main villain wuz hawt”. You sound like a frat douche.
Antichrist daddy
"Wilhelmina Minimal" sounds like some quirky influencer girl's Instagram account
I pretty much started calling her Veni, vidi, vici 🤭
I don't know why, but the way Elvis says it makes it sound like a vegetable.
To be fair: They connected the seasons before Apocalypse already. This had been the plan for a longer time.
Elvis looks like he's been waiting in line for like 10 hours

1984 was literally just the writers going "hey, what if we did a horror season in the 80s?" and then contributed no further ideas, and the costume and set people went all out but then the writers forgot to make a plot
what? are you dumb? or are you stupid? the plot of 1989 was the peak of the season
@@gluedglued1252 I love that you called me stupid and then proceeded to get the name of the season wrong
Probably just piggybacking off of "Stranger Things" success with the while 80s aesthetics and setting.
1984 is actually good-
I couldn't get through a single episode without having the urge to spontaneously combust.
How does his grandma put on a gimp suit and not look like a grandma in a gimp suit.
Doc Holiday : "I'll be your Huckleberry..."
the suit was a hallucination
The Darkness’s real name sounds far too similar to Michael Landon, the man who played the father in Little House On The Prairie. THAT is the most upsetting part about this season
I just have one good thing to say about Apocalypse...
Michael Langdon.
That's it.
I have one good thing to say about the first half of Apocalypse...
Michael Langdon

I think it's hilarious that they killed off the only interesting character
I think my favorite season was Asylum. It had so much going on, but I still liked the background stories and the ending.
A lot of the scenes just really stuck with me.
asylum is a masterpiece. I'll never forget the name game song.
Same. They did all this fanservice crossover stuff in Apocalypse just for the Freak show/Asylum Pepper crossover to be waaayy better and more impactful
asylum was the best. the first 3 seasons were so good. it just got so bad with freakshow and beyond. :(
@@julia82 i loved freakshow.
The way she was holding her phone was obviously a metaphor for how she keeps her family at arms length. Duh.
I mean I 100% hold my phone that way when I FaceTime my family 😂 Gotta have a good angle / lighting you know

@@ipacklunchesare you being ironic because i genuinely cannot tell
I liked Apocalypse, except the ending. It was definitely a love letter to fans of the earlier seasons, so I enjoyed how season 8 tried to tie things together and bring back favorite characters. I get what the showrunners were going for at the end, but I thought the devil needed the antichrist to be born of a ghost and a human woman, per what was said in Murder House. So them being like nevermind, this is actually totally random and it can be any couple was like huh? Maybe they were selected as the new parents because they were noticed in the outpost in the erased timeline.
Wilemina Venable must’ve had some interesting Starbucks experiences
Willa weena? Is there a Willa weena here?
Wilhelm Vena! A Grande cappuccino for Wilhem Vena!
Isnt it Wilhelmina
Alyssa Dela Cruz I honestly could not tell you
Disgruntled Artichoke Do we have a William Mina?
My problem with the show is that evey season starts good, but then I get bored and sick of it halfway through. I had to force myself to finish every single season
Same! Idk what it is. I always have the most trouble finishing Asylum and Hotel when I rewatch.
Same. They drag out far too long and try to fit too many storylines into a series. They'd do much better by focusing on one or two things and creating a really good story, but instead it always devolves into a convoluted mess.
@Shanghai ChangCalm the fuck down. I wanted to finish it because I started it and wanted to see how it ended.
Shanghai Chang Lol
@Shanghai Chang wtf was that trigger, kinda liked it tho.
The Antichrist literally had a Jojo villian death

Nathaniel Arndt ur right honestly if they ever did make a steel ball run live action then he would be Funny, I mean the characters seem like if Funny was trying to summon the devil instead of Jesus

2. Coven
3. Murder House
4. New York City
5. Freak Show

11. Apocalypse

Pretty solid top 3 ngl 👌
Her name straight up sounds like a medication
A generic medication, even.
Or a medieval medicine or something.
Ask your doctor if Wilhelminavenable™ is right for you. May cause confusion, diarrhea and poorly written scripts. Use as directed.
a generic, over the counter, side effects being vomiting and severe fatigue, medicine
The Opal Fox Channel this is great
I remember telling my friend that if they were gonna do the whole anti-christ spawn of satan thing they should have just gone all out.
That would've been SO much more interesting!! Honestly I thought Apocalypse would have been at least slightly more religious in theme
But nope, it was more or less nuclear warfare mixed with a poor execution of Armageddon.
@@NatalieTreleven YESS I thought so too
awesome take! that would have been a great show! you should submit that to AHS, you never know, they might actually do it and they're clearly not coming up with any good ideas.
Kinda reminds me of the plot of Good Omens
You can’t say “The stew is Stu” isn’t an iconic line.
yuh
I feel like the grandmother saying she didnt care what it was and continued to eat it was more iconic
The Stu is stew!
Not really it sounds dumb
spongebob reee whooooosh
The stew is Stu. Somebody really wanted to put that line in the show.
Agreed!!!!!
yeah that season had some potential to be good then all of a sudden they killed everyone and introduced completely different characters with a different storyline and it went all over the place, and the ending was so fucking dumb
Actually when she blows him back and he's what are you I was sure she was an angel.
666th like 💀
Apocalypse was the perfect way of Ryan Murphy saying "I don't even know what's going on anymore"
They just acted like Kyle never existed. That sucked.
YES
I feel like the nod to this was Maddison helping Violet with Tate.
honey, kyle is useless for the plot of apocalypse, giving him screentime would be a waste
Dionne Fenty voodoo queen did jack shit and the season wouldn’t have been any different without her because she died as quick as she came back in. Was still happy to see her. Ryan’s just lazy.
Madison Donaldson sis fell off the face of the earth
it’s so funny you named Leslie Grossman’s character in apocalypse Barb, that’s her characters name in the new season NYC, maybe they took some notes from this video on how to improve the series/writing lol
Asylum is by far the best season, it will never be surpassed. The acting, characters, multiple plot lines, and setting are all so perfect.
Favorite season is Roanoke. Also like the second half of Red Tide
Agreed, everything about asylum was amazing
Asylum would be a perfect season for me (I LOVED the setting) if not for the whole alien subplot. I think it's a bit silly and detracts from the tone of the season. It derailed the season a bit for me. But overall it is still the season I enjoyed the most tbh. Granted, it's been, like, almost 10 years since I last watched it so the details may be a little fuzzy, but I remember really loving it and feeling frustrated with the addition of aliens.
i disagree 1984 all the way
@@Jayden_gemini yeah 1984 is pretty fuckin awesome!! But i think asylum was by far the scariest of them all especially in that one scene where lana was being.. Chained in the basement.. And Ryan Murphy didn't tell Sarah Paulson what was happening when bloody face was gonna do that to her.. But asyulm is just high up there on the scary scale of them all but 1984 is the best 😭
Also wtf did gay evan character’s granny have to do with the season at all lmao
she was a witch, she helped Cordelia and the others plan the whole thing
