I’m sorry but $180 for this is crazy, the Beacn Mic Arm is $120 and does everything this does but honestly better, you can already see the arm bending in this video. I’ve had my Beacn one with an sm7b on it for a year now and it doesn’t do that. I think you should really consider Harris’ biases in this dude, it’s honestly crazy especially for the price point
I bought one for less than $100 on amazon. Honestly, simplistic items like these should only cost $100 or less cause who tf is buying that much for a stand? You might as well get a better mic with a very cheap stand for that money instead.
@@AdrianComoro Agree with everything you and @chadp284 say. But Elgato are getting savvy with the customisable thing these days. You may not like it, and I don't really think it's worth the premium either, but there are people out there (and Harris is quite fairly one of them, as he has his image on line to think about too) that would pay a premium for a decent product with a little tiny weeny bit extra to add to the appearance of their streams (obvs wont cost the bigger streamers as they will get one for free). But yeah, agree... starting price is way too high. Elgato will take a bit off and sell loads in Black Friday deals. Then this arm is the new normal at that price, and Elgato have a head start on making more money when they release the Pro2 with it's customisable cable tray plates in a years time :D That said... I do quite like a lot of elgato products and they are continuing to build a decent and reliable brand name.
Problem with the Beacn stuff is that its not available. I can buy their mic arm today for €287. The elgato sounds really good, simply because it’s actually available…
@@MrMainA that’s what I’m saying. You can buy professional microphone arms like the psa1+ for cheaper and it may not be low profile but at least the arm won’t bend like this one does
That's a $100 arm and that's being generous looking at how good the springs are in this demonstration. My gas spring triple monitor arm, individually adjustable, is $120 and holds 10kg. The LP was already way overpriced (should have been $60) and even then it just keeps sagging even at its tightest (mine has crappy tolerances. You'd think they'd actually do some quality control for that premium). Glad to see it addressed, but calm down on the price! jeez O wow, it has magnets, couldn't do that on a steel arm before /s. But even then, $180 seems reasonable compared to the wave desk stand. $60???? For that piece of junk? Desk noise is exactly what you want to get away from. I'd get $60 if they included an internal shock mount.
The Elgato LP arm was one of my all-time best purchases I didn't know I needed. It was huge coming from a Rode PSA-1, which could seriously injure you and took up so much field of view space. The magnets and small bounciness were my only gripes with the LP, so this looks like an instant-buy for me.
As an FYI for viewers: 1) There's a hex screw in the clamp post/riser post/bottom arm where you would tighten once you put the pieces inside. So don't just jam the pieces together if it doesn't go in easy just loosen the hex, put in the pole, and tighten it. If you do this you also won't have any sagging (so the hex key is for more than just weight adjustment) 2) That little logo on the hex key is magnetic so you can stick it inside the cable channel cover so you don't lose it :) 3) It is in fact one of my favorite products ever. Every time I move my mic around I can't help but smile.
Small thing you didn't mention is the alllen key the logo part on it is magnetic so you can stick it to one of the cable covers and leave it inside the mic arm so you don't lose it.
What is it with Elgato and their pricing? They are the ROG of streamer stuff. I guess its what happens when they have like NO competition. I'll keep my RØDE arm thank you.
Yes, I was maybe interested, even though I'm a bit disappointed with the original version. If I stay with a low-profile mic arm instead of going overhead, I'll just stay focused on the Fifine one
It used to be "gamer" products, now it's "streamer" products lol. Suckers. I haven't been to a studio (I play in a band) where an Elgato is used. These are toys.
Pricing aside. I like the design of the arm. The horizontal arm attached to the base is nice. Most other arms I have seen / used feel upside down to that. It bends up where others bend down naturally.
the original can barley hold a SM7B, first one i got couldn't, exchanged it as i though maybe i got a bad one and the replacement could hold it but barley hold it.. even the ball head would slip with a sm7b in there. the gass spring is nice but does the ball head still suck ?? probably but if not it looks nice but almost 200 bucks is pretty crazy.
The arm is super interesting to me but also incredibly pricy. Unsure if I can justify it. Currently using a low profile arm on my mic which goes under my monitors... But it gets in the way sometimes. I like the flexibility of this one.
If I had a magic wand for this channel it would be to make Harris do more budget friendly options. I want to see the $30 mic arms. I want to see a round up on all the microphones from a budget brand. Looks clean and high quality. But $180 is insane. My NEEWER MS002 is LP & has Pneumatics too, and is only $80. Although the NEEWER MS002 needs the mic to be like >300g to work well with the pneumatics, but that's not uncommon
I thought you were gonna do stuff other than tech product reviews? I'm not trying to be a butt, I just really liked the more unique videos that you put more creative energy into.
I feel like if you took the Elgato name off it it's a $100 product but in true Corsair owned brand fashion it has to have high markup. Ngl though that movement is exceptional.
Nice to see the product development. However, it seems they identified an available price-point between Rode and Yellowtec. I guess I stick to my sturdy K&M 23325 Table Microphone Stand for 39 USD including taxes to which a pop filter also can be mounted.
The thing that is a bummer with this is that the ball joint that holds the mic doesn't maintain the mic's angle the same way that a traditional boom arm does. On a standard arm, when I move the arm up or down, the mic is always at the same angle. With the LP arms, you have to lock the mic in or leave that ball joint a little loose, which I imagine would start to wear over time.
It doesn't appear they've solved the biggest issues with these which is the size of the cable management piping for the wire. I have an xlr mic and the cable doesn't fit into the channels. So frustrating. I've just learned to live with them hanging out.
Hopefully they have fixed there quality issues on the new arm. The LP arm previously looks nice but the joints were very poor using plastic inside, for the cost this was not good. meant it would never stay in place it would droop. ended up have to modify mine to keep it in place.

Yeah i love alot of Elgato products...But this isnt a 180$ product. and honestly i feel like 100$ is too expensive for their regular mic arms (I got main basically free as apart of a bundle) Like to be honest i would never really reccomend someone pay for an Elgato Mic arm with all of the other options that exist
I love my Elgato stuff too, I usually wait for sales and for when I have rewards at Best Buy, from rewards and a sale I just ordered the Key Light for about $26.
Having to tighten the regular mic arms a few inches higher than what they'll settle at always bugs me. I bought a super strong overkill arm just so it wouldn't have as much creep. I would buy this one now, if I was on the market for another.
When will Elgato sell me a mic arm designed to work with their Multi Mount System? That’s the one thing my setup is missing. My desk can’t take things clamped to the edge, so I’d love to attach an arm like this to my Master Mount.
As much as I would love to upgrade to an Elgato mic arm.. I don't have a typical desk but rather it being made of glass that sits on the frame of the desk. I have 2.5, almost 3 inches I would need to clamp...
Great mic arm, amazing upgrades to make it competitive with what's already on the market. Although I can afford to, I won't be purchasing just because they added a Corsair tax to a mic arm?
My boom arm is squeaking more then it was however what I paid for it is nothing compare to what Elgato is asking for XD Rode I'm sticking with at $60 and 5 years old. CRAZY price
$180 for a mic arm? Sadly out of my price range. I get that other gas based arms are very expensive, but I still wish it was cheaper. For someone that's been tempted to use a low profile arm as a camera arm so I can easily move it when ever I need to, I like the fact that it's one and done vs. Other mounts that I have to unscrew and re-screw over and over again. Maybe I'm out of touch, but I think any premium product is going to come with a premium price?? Don't get me wrong, I can't afford $180 for a mic arm, but if I wanted the best mic arm I could get for my studio, I'd go to Elgato. They absolutely cover the broad range of users from beginners to pros, and this one is for the bigger spenders. Not every product is going to be a $25 life changing piece of tech where we ask "How are we getting so much value OMG?!?!" Seriously
A great product that they ruined with pricing. The OG arm could be bought on Amazon for $100 consistently and now it’s $180 before tax??? Come on Elgato…
@@Steggy I understand that but it’s frustrating seeing the original LP arm or the BEACN Mic Arm that has the same features as this going for $120. It doesn’t make sense for this to be $180. I get it’s a business but still…
@@bigman8733 It's not the same features though - the Beacn mic arm is similar to our first version of Mic Arm LP where you use a hex key to tighten a bushing for the pitch arm - so only difference there is we swapped out the hex key head to a wing nut to let you do this tool-lessly. So with these arms you can loosen, adjust pitch, and retighten, or you can use force to move the arm into your position and which will cause the bushing/screw to loosen which again would need to be retightened. Whereas a gas spring moves like a boom spring arm like Elgato Mic Arm or Rode PSA-1 - where it stays where you put it and there's no screws or bushings that need to be constantly fiddled with. But to do this there's a lot more components that go into the upper tier than a screw and a bushing to hold everything in place - and this is where the extra cost comes in. So if you don't need the benefits of the gas spring arm, you would be deciding between the Elgato Mic Arm LP or the Beacn Mic Arm. But make no mistake those 2 are the comparable models to one another - the Beacn is not like the Mic Arm Pro.
@@Steggy it being a new version I understand there will be a price increase but with the OG elgato arms, PSA1+, and BEACN Arm being in the $100-130 (which are all great boom arms in their own right) this just seems so expensive even though it does look very nice and have good QoL features. I know a lot of professional low profile arms are $300-500+ but still for the niche this product is feeling it just feels like awkward pricing. I’m sure it’ll sell like crazy and do well (and despite my retort something I’d definitely want to buy lol) it just seems pricing on a lot of elgato products are starting to trend higher than most people would’ve expected. Just my 2 cents
@@bigman8733 Yes the goal was to take what people used to pay $400 for and cut that by more than half - but it's still a high end product, hence the "pro" nomenclature - and the pro gear isn't for everyone. When we first released the 4K60 Pro - it was $400 which seems crazy for a capture card until you realize that the cheapest 4K60 card on the market before ours was $1,000. We try to cover bases of different price points to be accessible to users - but at the same time there are certain price floors we aren't able to hit like the no-name brand amazon sellers because our products are required to meet regulations and certifications to sell retail that Amazon only sellers don't need to. So we'll never be able to do a $20 mic arm because those are skirting those regulations and generally straight from factories that are just knocking off or duping original products with the goal of just cutting corners to undercut the original's price. And then you have some brands who will then take those dupes, add their logo on them and charge 2x the price of the original dupe but no one seems to notice when that happens.
$250 in Canada is absurd at that price point I can find a good mic, audio interface, and a mic arm used on Facebook marketplace

It's interesting that I bought similar product for under $30 and it works the same way. +$150 for Elgato logo 🤦♂️
You're just an advertiser for Elgato 😒😑
he covers new streaming equipment bro its his job
i wouldnt call that a riser, that barely made it go any higher lmao.
can i ask something?
$300 aud I feel is excessive
Maybe I'm out of touch, but I think any premium product is going to come with a premium price?? Don't get me wrong, I can't afford $180 for a mic arm, but if I wanted the best mic arm I could get for my studio, I'd go to Elgato. They absolutely cover the broad range of users from beginners to pros, and this one is for the bigger spenders. Not every product is going to be a $25 life changing piece of tech where we ask "How are we getting so much value OMG?!?!"
Seriously
I'm happily purchasing Elgato products but this is a big NO. Even if I would have money to burn and would not even feel a dent or squat, its a fat NO.
What's amazing about it?
I need money
A great product that they ruined with pricing. The OG arm could be bought on Amazon for $100 consistently and now it’s $180 before tax??? Come on Elgato…
Mic Arm LP isn't going anywhere - it will still be available and its price isn't changing. This is an additional option for those who want it.
Elgato as per usual cool product but way overpriced. Another product that is unreasonable to buy, what a shame.
