What an accurate depiction of Irish life.
To me this ad will always be remembered simply as "The Chest." Was 16 when this aired and my love for furry chests was hitting it's peak. It was a great time for a hairy chest-lover. Magnum P.I. was on TV every week with Selleck frolicking in the Hawaiian sun shirtless. The television movie "The Sacketts" was also around this time. Jeff Osterhage was in "The Sacketts" and, I kid you not, made his co-star Selleck look like he was almost smooth-chested in comparison, lol. If all that wasn't enough, Randy Powell was appearing on "Dallas" as Alan Beam, Lucy's conniving boyfriend, around this time as well. Powell was the only one to give Osterhage any serious competition in the chest pelt arena. Both were amazing!

Wow, I looked for this commercial featuring the unbelievably hairy-chested wrestler and couldn't find it, until now. That chest amazed me back in the day when I would see this ad, and it still does today.

Roma Downey says that she auditioned for these commercials but was rejected because she didn't "sound Irish enough" and was not going to be the Hollywood leprechaun (very commendable). They went with girls from Boston and Philly instead.

Wow! I remember Joseph Burke and his big hairy chest well. He was on some shows in the 1970s and 80s. Was in a swimsuit in a particularly memorable Charlie's Angels episode from 1976. I will never forget those images, wink wink.

Irish spring is the shit! I use the body wash though.. It smells amazing. Girls love the smell too, I usually couple it with Degree Power. The scent is so good you don't need colonge, and its not overpowering or make you smell like you live with your parents (I.E Old spice and other crappy soaps/shower gels), when I wear a tank top I Get about a hundred hugs a day at school..no joke
