I wanted to tell you thank you for all of your helpful resources. Yesterday morning our 40 year old well pump died. And I had no idea what to do and didn't want to pay someone to fix it. So I did as much research as I could. Pulled the old pump out myself and bought a Grundfos pump locally and installed it. We're back in action and water is working again in our home. Thanks for teaching me a new valuable skill!

Modern day quality control is lacking big time! 1990 pumps would last 18-25 years, 2015+ pumps you'll get 6-13 years

@@SamA-xu9gy I'm not sure why this is here but it must be answered. This is a long reply but the truth must be based on substantiated facts. A lie or half-truth, well, that's another story.
If you get to the end, maybe, you will find an eternal reward. Most of what is stated is taken directly from the Bible: KJV, CEV or BBE.
      > Christianity is NOT pagan.
      > Statues/icons in churches are an evidence that that church is not following the teaching of scripture on THAT POINT.
      > Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
      > Jesus, the Christ was truly God. But he did not try to remain equal with God. Instead he gave up everything and became a SLAVE, when he became like one of us. Christ was humble. He obeyed His FATHER and even died on a cross. Then the FATHER gave Christ the highest place and honored his name above all others. So at the name of Jesus everyone will bow down, those in heaven, on earth, and under the earth. And to the glory of God the Father everyone will openly agree, "Jesus Christ is Lord!"?
      > Children who are under age are no better off than SLAVES, even though everything their FATHER owns will someday be theirs. This is because children are placed in the care of guardians and teachers until the time their FATHER has set. When the time was right, God the Father sent his Son, and a woman, conceived and gave birth to him, via the Holy Spirit. His Son obeyed the Law, so he could set us free from the Law, and we could become God's children.
      > God is a TRINITY, three persons; Father/God, Son/Jesus and the Holy Spirit. These three comprising an individual. The Individual that is you is also a TRINITY composed of a: SOUL; giving you self awareness, BODY; environmental awareness, SPIRIT; God awareness.
      > Religion that pleases God the Father must be pure and spotless. You must help needy orphans and widows and not let this world make you evil.
God loved the people of this world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who has faith in him will have eternal life and never really die. God did not send his Son into the world to condemn its people. He sent him to save them! No one who has faith in God's Son will be condemned. But everyone who doesn't have faith in him has already been condemned for not having faith in God's only Son. The light has come into the world, and people who do evil things are judged guilty because they love the dark more than the light. People who do evil hate the light and won't come to the light, because it clearly shows what they have done. But everyone who lives by the truth will come to the light, because they want others to know that God is really the one doing what they do.
God's Son comes from heaven and is above all others. Everyone who comes from the earth belongs to the earth and speaks about earthly things. The one who comes from heaven is above all others. He speaks about what He has seen and heard, and yet no one believes Him. But everyone who does believe Him has shown that God is truthful. The Son was sent to speak God's message, and He has been given the full power of God's Spirit. The Father loves the Son and has given Him everything. He who has faith in the Son has eternal life; but he who has not faith in the Son will not see life; God's wrath is resting on him.

In my experience (I'm not a professional but have set many pumps over the years) a pump failure is almost always a motor failure. I've dismantled junked sixteen or eighteen year old pumps and they looked like new inside. The motors were toast. A friend gave me her old 1.5hp Grundfos pump and I simply installed a brand new motor on it, then installed it in my own well. That was a few years ago, and it continues to run well. Now, I did see a 1/2hp Red Lion pump that failed, and one of the impellers had self-destructed, so sometimes it IS the pump that failed. But as a rule, it's almost always the motor. Great videos! I subscribed and plan to watch them all, even though I've done this kind of work for years.

Nice video, I just replaced my 1 HP 240 volt pump...and hanging on 240 feet of 1-1/4" vinyl pipe...I've never worked with a well before, so being a noob...I did everything myself, in 20 degree weather...old pump motor was seized after a big leak under the house let it run 24/7 for several months, sucked the well dry and overheated the water cooled motor.
Years ago I worked in a shop that rewound all sorts of motors...the type of motor would probably cost about as much as 2 or even 3 pumps to get rewound.

Soooo, some tight wad could have just installed an external check valve on the outlet of the pump and kept going ... PS, I really do appreciate the tear down. I looked a the parts diagram and it seems all the stages are supposed to be the same for a given model. Oh, the rubber "hat" you saw in the bottom is a pressure balancing diaphragm. The liquid in the motor (distilled water? Light oil?) is, I think supposed to be sealed.

      Is this a 4" well or 6".
Either way, your hanging on something. Get the that sweet spot where it hangs, go up & down & keep feeling that bump, then rotate the pipe, walking circles around the well, one direction and then the other. It's a pain, but you should be able to get it by whatever it is hanging on. Typically the pumps wire guard is hanging the bottom lip of the pvc casing. If its 4" casing & a 4" pump, it's a real pain in the rear end

  • @Syedsafir009

It’s motor not pump, pump will attached with it at top. The purpose of the motor is to convert the electrical energy to mechanical by rotating the rotors by the help of magnetic field produced in the stator.

@@johnhurtme hi, motors are not really worth repairing unless you can rewind them yourself, if you bolt your motor adaptor on to a good motor it will set the pump shaft at the correct height then as you assemble bowls and impellers you want aprox 10 thou clearance between the underside of the impeller and the bowl, this is usually achieved using shims, the rest is pretty straight forward.
