In this video I will show you what challenges I faced while assembling a diy delta 3d printer kit. I will talk about the basic function principle, how it compares to an ordinary XYZ 3d printer and the most important things you should look out if you want to own such a delta printer as well.

I ordered this same printer from their Amazon store after having trouble ordering it on AliExpress. It came with a 10 amp 12 volt power supply which is great. After I calibrated it with the m666 command it printed really good. But I had one issue, my fan was broken on arrival so I have to get a new one but other than that it's a great printer.

I didn't see the heated bed thing anywhere. That little snippet with changing the heated bed pin and motherboard type in pins just saved me from pulling my lust clump of hair out.

One tip for the belts staying taught is using the spring from a clothes pin. You take the spring part and touch it to the belt with the arms facing out and the pull the belt inside the arms so that the arms are kind of pulling the belt towards the center.
Idk if that is understandable, I can explain further if needed. Anyways it helps keep my belts more taught

Make sure that you are "smooshing" the plastic on that first layer - on blue tape, it really ensures a ridicules level of adhesion. Over extruding on layer one by around 10-20% also helps.

3d Printers have come a long way and my Anet A8 3D Printer Prusa i3 has no problems at all i get every print a success long as what i am printing is realistic and not impossible with a good bed level. Quality has improved so much in this clones although i think the ramps board might be a better option as i am currently trying to figure out how to modify this board to print ~300* polycarbonate

Other delta printers offer more build space per $, like Biqu or Anycubic.
But the special metal parts here make sense and look like a real improvement.
The printer is now offered for 340$ including heatbed and auto-level.
Only putting the extruder motor on top does not look like the best technical solution to me, because it means the bowden tube is longer, thus extrusion and retraction are less precise.

I had a Rostock V2 delta printer. They're faster and can print far larger volumes than Cartesian for the price. Only big issue is that they require more calibration. You will still get belt slack over time, but I guess that's just the nature of the beast with these printers. Looks like a pretty good deal overall for that price. The heated print bed will be a must. It doesn't look like it works all that elegantly modding this setup to use it. I know the Rostock V2 felt like a professional package, but at a $1000 pricetag, you get what you pay for, I suppose.

would you be able to share any methods/instructions on doing the calibration. ive been trying on mine and having lots of issues. i thought i had the M666 right but i might not. Also the G29 keeps crashing the head into the plate
Also the tube for the filament keeps getting under the Z axis endstop and causing it to stop early. did you have any similar issues? if so how did you solve it?

  • @teufeltrashmachine

Nice printer, but for printing ABS you will need a higher temperature around 80-100 degrees Celsius for the bed. I prefer ABS, because you can easily smooth the layers and fix gaps of your print with aceton or an abs/aceton solution.
