      I agree the pinnacle of football is the champions League, not the world cup. The world cup has been boring for about 20 years now, before 2000 is was good. The champions league (especially when you get to the last 4 semi final) it's end to end, edge of your seat stuff has been like that for the last 7/8 years) let's look it like this.... Man City or Real Madrid would beat Argentina or France comfortably.

      @ disagree the world up is the pinnacle, I love watching it but as a Liverpool fan I’d rather Liverpool won something (even if it’s the league cup) than see England win something. I’ve got so much more invested in Liverpool whereas England it’s like oh well if we win the great if we don’t then oh well

  • @DB-07

    It’s funny that Kane came out and questioned players loyalty. Wasn’t he the one who was playing injured in the euros….stinking the place out, all the while knowing that there were perfectly good (and fit) replacements on the bench. Yea real leader that man.

    • @kemarhamilton8813

      You're a contradiction to everything you're saying. Maybe you ought to let more developed minds see this argument out. He fought for his country despite his injury. That's the definition of a warrior. He didn't perform to his fullest, but had he turned down the opportunity to play for England at the hardest tournament to win in the world, then everyone would have cursed him off, calling him all kinds of frauds and cowards. He also doesn't pick himself. The coach does. Jason Cundy is being nonsensical, and this is coming from a Chelsea fan. This is why we don't win anything because of this mentality.

    • @senzokai3156
      @senzokai3156 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      That's a whole lot of faff for very little substance. You talk as if players don't have the option of self reflection and telling the coach that it's best if they don't play.
      There's little heroic about jeopardising your country's chances by playing when injured and in horrible form, instead of letting better players get their turn.
      It's the very definition of selfishness under the poorly veiled guise of heroic valor.

      @@kemarhamilton8813small minded people start conversations with insults. Cough cough! Kane is the captain. Being a leader is about doing what’s best for the team….not yourself. He “fought” for his country….and?? Wanting to perform and being able to aren’t the same thing. He knew full well he was injured and chose to play….that’s being a hindrance not a hero.

    • @kemarhamilton8813
      @kemarhamilton8813 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @DB-07 Small-minded people have tunnel vision and can not significantly contribute towards any conversation because they lack the intellectual fortitude to do so. Harry Kane, at 75 percent match-fitness is better than England's attacking forward lineup. He carried a knock, not an injury. He wasn't injured. If he was injured, he wouldn't have played. There's a difference. My point is that while others would have used that as an excuse, he still went and fought for his country. He finished the tournament with 3 goals.

    Many of these players will win the league with their clubs… especially now city are on the turn. Some will win multiple league titles. It’s highly likely non of them will win a major international tournament. Winning the World Cup is the pinnacle of any footballer’s career.

  • @thabisovezi8127
    @thabisovezi8127 วันที่ผ่านมา

    And that’s one of the reasons why England have failed winning international tournaments in the past. The players and fans only care about their club sides and let them divide them within the National team. For example man united players never sat with Liverpool players at the England camp but look at Spain yes they had disputes as well but at the end they saw the bigger picture which was winning the World Cup for their nation and they bonded. You ask Lionel Messi would he rather win 2 UCL with Barcelona or win the World Cup again, he’ll tell you World Cup. Not every player has the privilege of saying they’ve won the World Cup

    I totally agree, club over country. I’m no where near as passionate about England as what I was about 10 years ago. When England play in big games or tournaments it becomes an excuse for so called “fans” to go out on the street and act like complete idiots. Look at the Euro final at Wembley, embarrassing. I used to always get an England shirt for tournaments but haven’t in a long time as I don’t want to be associated with these mindless thugs.

    If your a supporter of Man City or another big club that wins titles regular, then yes you would probably take winning the World Cup over another League trophy as it's highly likely you'll win many more, however if you support a club who rarely competes or wins a trophy, I'm sure they'd much rather win the Premier League than the World Cup.
    I'm a Leicester fan myself, and there's absolutely no way I'd trade that Premier League trophy and competing in the Champions League for England winning the World Cup.

    Not any one can say they’ve won the World Cup it’s a once in a life time thing. Think of the greats that have won it like Zizou, Maradona, R9, and Messi, their names are edged in history books because they have conquered the pinnacle of football, if you haven’t done that Im sorry and I know it’s a team trophy and other teams don’t have a chance of winning it but atleast compete just like Croatia England haven’t done that. If you haven’t played in a World Cup final and your a top level player it’s a massive sting in your career because you haven’t played in the final of the biggest stage

    Whenever our boys have a school match at the same time as a club match we ALWAYS say "Club before country" (and we are Americans lol). SO happy our Chelsea players did not join their respective international squads! So tired of seeing top talent abused with so many matches...put secondary players out on the field and get them caps. So many situations when starters are hurt and backups need to come on in these matches...

I can see why a player might duck out of a call up for a nation's league game under a manager who won't have any role in them keeping a place in the squad... But the world cup is the pinnacle of football, every player wants to go to the world cup.
