I support a non-league team and I’d rather they got promoted than England win the World Cup. It’s not going to war for your country, it’s a football team and I support a club.
You’ll see players coming out and saying “I’ll play WC and euro qualifiers you can keep the nations league”. It was only invented so UEFA could get a few more quid
As a fan I’d rather my club win a champions league than my country win a WC. But if I was a player I think it would be reversed bc you are immortalized the moment you win a WC.
As a player or even fan even isn't the world cup more prestigious than the premier league. You'll be immortalised e.g. Bobby Moore, Geoff Hurst, Bobby Charlton.
Many of these players will win the league with their clubs… especially now city are on the turn. Some will win multiple league titles. It’s highly likely non of them will win a major international tournament. Winning the World Cup is the pinnacle of any footballer’s career.
And that’s one of the reasons why England have failed winning international tournaments in the past. The players and fans only care about their club sides and let them divide them within the National team. For example man united players never sat with Liverpool players at the England camp but look at Spain yes they had disputes as well but at the end they saw the bigger picture which was winning the World Cup for their nation and they bonded. You ask Lionel Messi would he rather win 2 UCL with Barcelona or win the World Cup again, he’ll tell you World Cup. Not every player has the privilege of saying they’ve won the World Cup
I don't believe Cundy for a second as a fan he'd rather Chelsea win the Premier League than the World Cup. If it actually happened he'd change his mind. We've never experienced it.
The interest of playing for England has dropped dramatically over the years for sure it's not the height of a playing career for these players anymore want with all the failing over the years and the fans are feeling the same now.
I'm pleased that Cole Palmer and Levi Colwill have pulled out if they get injured in a nothing game for England it could make a massive difference to Chelsea and what they do this season. Chelsea pay their massive wages not England without Palmer we will be knackered.
These nations league games are not meaningless friendly matches they actually count towards seeding for the next world cup qualifying draw so good luck England if you end up in pot 3 for the draw and please remind me that England were crying out for uefa to set up the nations league
I totally agree, club over country. I’m no where near as passionate about England as what I was about 10 years ago. When England play in big games or tournaments it becomes an excuse for so called “fans” to go out on the street and act like complete idiots. Look at the Euro final at Wembley, embarrassing. I used to always get an England shirt for tournaments but haven’t in a long time as I don’t want to be associated with these mindless thugs.
The prestige of international football has reduced dramatically the past 15 years or so. Club football is more exciting more intense, more entertaining. International football is boring and just drains the life out of fans.
If your a supporter of Man City or another big club that wins titles regular, then yes you would probably take winning the World Cup over another League trophy as it's highly likely you'll win many more, however if you support a club who rarely competes or wins a trophy, I'm sure they'd much rather win the Premier League than the World Cup. I'm a Leicester fan myself, and there's absolutely no way I'd trade that Premier League trophy and competing in the Champions League for England winning the World Cup. Club football over country all day every day for me. 🦊
Not any one can say they’ve won the World Cup it’s a once in a life time thing. Think of the greats that have won it like Zizou, Maradona, R9, and Messi, their names are edged in history books because they have conquered the pinnacle of football, if you haven’t done that Im sorry and I know it’s a team trophy and other teams don’t have a chance of winning it but atleast compete just like Croatia England haven’t done that. If you haven’t played in a World Cup final and your a top level player it’s a massive sting in your career because you haven’t played in the final of the biggest stage

So many situations when starters are hurt and backups need to come on in these matches...

I'm a proud British and English guy but I'm not a England supporter,
My club of 55 years always comes first, winning the Premiership or a Champions league cup is always the priority and I hate players going away on International duty and perhaps getting injured,
for a player I can see the difference.
Depends on the team you support. Fans of the big 6 clubs and clubs challenging to get top 4 would prefer to win the league. But fans of lower league clubs in league 1 and 2 might prefer to see England win a trophy if their club isn’t anywhere near the premier league or likely to win the fa cup or league cup.
It’s club over country if you are playing for the club you supported growing up all day long
Cundy is 100% right. As fans we all feel the same.
United over england all day long! Look at what shaw did, rushed himself bk 2 play for england n then missed 4 months for united! Shocking behaviour
“Top footballer” doing some seriously heavy lifting here.
Leagues are harder to win than cups that is why I admire Leicester for doing it with a small squad
Absolutely agree. Club over country all day long.
Ask Italians, Brazilians, Argentinians etc fans and players, winning the World Cup is the pinnacle for them. The problem is here in England we haven't won the world cup in most people's lifetimes so most fans don't know what it's like.
Most fans don't care in uk it's club anyday you think brighton wolves spurs .wait erase that one fulham fans care about england winning over title 😅😅😅
What is he on
Club over country 🤦🏾…ridiculous
He's 100% right aswell internationals are a waste of time.
Club anyday
I support a non-league team and I’d rather they got promoted than England win the World Cup.
It’s not going to war for your country, it’s a football team and I support a club.
Club over country all day Cundy speaks 💯 sense.
Why is Jamie keep mentioning World Cup and Euros these games are for Nations Leauge lets get it right.
Yep exactly, I don't know what teams Bobby Moore played for but I know he won England a wc and is 1 of the best English players of all time
Many of these players will win the league with their clubs… especially now city are on the turn.
I seem to remember cundy 3 years ago criticising a villa fan for being tribalist and now he's doing the same 😂
Good thing they arent playing for the Euros right now, he doesnt even realize hes proving the point by suggesting the hypothetical
As a fan i want my club to do better, but if i was a player i would rather win a world cup than the premier league.
Yet they could get injured in Chelsea’s next game, or the one after, or the one after that.. Make sense mate.
These nations league games are not meaningless friendly matches they actually count towards seeding for the next world cup qualifying draw so good luck England if you end up in pot 3 for the draw and please remind me that England were crying out for uefa to set up the nations league
I'd rather play for Liverpool in a pre season friendly than for England in the world cup final
Players shouldn't be selected for next major competition if they pulled out without any genuine reason.
Ask a Leicester fan if they would take their prem winning season away for England winning the world cup..
As an Ipswich fan I would rather see Ipswich win the fa cup than see England win the World Cup
The prestige of international football has reduced dramatically the past 15 years or so.
Club football is more exciting more intense, more entertaining.
International football is boring and just drains the life out of fans.
We all support club first
Who cares about these nations league games. Carskey would have been wise to try out the up and coming under 21’s
Wouldn't the viewing figures for international games/ prem games prove either sides point?
Nations league is a waste of time, I'd rather win £2 on the lottery.
As for Ben White, clearly didn't get on with Southgate and now he's gone he can play. People leave thier jobs all the time because of the manager and go back when the manager has moved on
Nation before self. Always. Not only that but as a football fan Jason is LYING to say he'd rather win the league than the pinnacle of the sport. Every player on the planet would rather win the world cup over the league. He's just trying to be contrarian for the sake of internet clout.
Whenever our boys have a school match at the same time as a club match we ALWAYS say "Club before country" (and we are Americans lol). SO happy our Chelsea players did not join their respective international squads! So tired of seeing top talent abused with so many matches...put secondary players out on the field and get them caps. So many situations when starters are hurt and backups need to come on in these matches...
Half the England players pull out because they are under pressure from their clubs not to play. An absolute disgrace. Completely disrespectful to England fans. Players today have no pride. Same goes for fans of Premier League clubs. Would rather support their so called local team full of foreigners than their national team. Absolute hypocrites.
I’m a Chelsea fan and that is a disgrace. I would much rather win euros than Chelsea win premier league
Playing for your country (especially England) really isn’t anything special 🤷♂️ it’s not like we have a rich history or winning 🤣 Brazil, now that is a country that you would die to play for and represent. Club above country every single time! England’s national hero is jimmy Saville ffs
Lol!! You don't want international break. You don't want your clubs best player to join their country during friendlies and qualifiers.
But when Euros and WC come, you want your player to be selected. Not only that you want them to jel like they have played the whole fc***ing year together and you expect them to win....
😂😂😂😂
Benny blanco does what he wants
This international breaks system is not good at all, but it doesn't change the fact country is always over club for football. 2 things from England needs to be studied, spices and footballing brains, absolute jokes.
Cundy annoys me when he keeps saying " as a fan" . That's not the question !!!!!!!
Personally rather see Liverpool win the league cup than England win anything
Country 51%, club,49%.
It’s club over country all day long
Typical, everyone in this country hates it. Just leave
Silly argument because why would one not happen because of the other... But world cup everyday and its not even close. I can see why a player might duck out of a call up for a nation's league game under a manager who won't have any role in them keeping a place in the squad... But the world cup is the pinnacle of football, every player wants to go to the world cup.
3rd int. Break already....it's ridiculous. Get rid of Nations League
Maybe the opponent had nothing to do with it
County over club everytime
HEY O'HARA, BET YOU WOULDN'T BE WORRIED ABOUT ENGLAND WINNING THE EUROS, IF YOU HAD THE CHOICE OF SPURS WINNING THE PREMIER LEAGUE OR CHAMPIONS LEAGUE INSTEAD.
not gonna lie, if I was a Spursy fan, I would pick them win something over anything
We have one WC in 100 years. It's a once in a lifetime thing. Surely you want to see it in your life?!
Nope it’s win the prem
@@ianmccartney1974 Winning the World Cup is far bigger than the winning the premier league or any club league. It's a once in a lifetime thing. The Champions League or Euros is close.
I’d rather Chelsea win a throw in over England winning a World Cup. How about that. 🔵⭐️⭐️
See where Jason is coming from as a England fan who have never win anything in his lifetime to be encouraged from. 😄😃as opposed to Chelsea who won everything😊
Bought everything....
Rather win the league over the world cup 😂😂😂😂 nah man
Look at it this way
If England won the World cup only England would care and celebrate
But let say Chelsea wins the Premier League all the fans over the world will celebrate.
😅
Sorry but world cup is the biggest trophy. Id probably take the champions league over the euros. But yeah
