Good video! My kid just hit a big buck with his '99 3.0 Accord. Everything is wrapped around the engine but it runs and drives like nothing happened. Both left hand doors are wrecked too. I'll bet that thing would really scoot with 7-800 lbs removed. Thanks for taking the time to make this.
There's a bunch of videos around of a turquoise kart made out of a fwd Integra. Seems like this would be similar. I watched one where Matt Farah drove it around a racetrack and was terrified.
I’ve been wanting to do this for a while I’m thinking about doing this with a vehicle that has an actual frame not a unibody. We’ll see how it goes. This video is inspiring.
@@EbolaSquirrel blvckflagd on instagram. The kart has been sitting for a while (we blew the engine) but we'll be doing a v8 swap on it soon and getting back at it early 2021. In the mean time, we've been focusing on the camaro and chevelle
I have this wild idea that has been bouncing around in my head. This easier said than done. I want to death cart a Miata but I want to put a Suzuki Samurai body on it and take it to 24 Hours of Lemon.
I'm in the UK and a kid. My dad is a mechanic and he loves some fun. You reckon it would be legal for him to get a cheap old car, turn it into a kart by removing the boot and the roof, give it a really slow engine and let a 13 year old drive it? Technically its not a proper car, it's a road legal kart. So if it got its MOT and its 25mph then it's a kart and any age can drive it, but it's a slow speed car
Would this be kind of like in sweden where you can build a "tractor" and get around some of the laws? I have no idea about car laws in the UK, so I wouldn't know where to start with that, but I'm sure with some reading it could be figured out.
I was thinking a bmw z3. Loads of 6 cilinder options for masive power and good aftermarket as well. And they are pretty cheap if they have some damage.
Initial build didn't take much time in hours...you can see we didn't pay much attention to the finishing details though. Just wanted to get it on the road. We did a few hours a week over a couple months. Guesses on time below: -one weekend with 4 people for the teardown, which only took about 3 hours -a few more hours spent 4-5 weekends and cage was built and tacked in. -probably half a day messing with all the stuff wrong with the miata to start with (engine was missing parts) -turbo build took a day -there's probably a days worth of grinding and welding to finish out the cage In between all that there was lots of sitting around, talking, beers, messing with other projects. We started in October and it was running, registered, and insured by the time weather was warm in the spring.
I’d like to try one out of a two seater AWD vehicle like a beat up Audi TT, older eclipse GSX, or the sort. Likely a much harder find for the price of a Miata but I am interested in the potential of an AWD ride. Maybe folks can explain the downsides of that type of platform for this purpose. I want to start with the reasons for it are I live off dirt roads with less than pristine weather by a long shot.
BLVCKFLAGD appreciate the response especially so quickly! Thanks for the tips in your very informative videos. Anything you think would be a downside of a awd 2seater?
@@Lo0die3 I don't think there's any downsides of building AWD. Sometimes those Audi's have some weird electronic stuff going on (I've had my fair share of audi and vw stuff), so you would just have to be cautious when you strip everything out that you don't destroy some important wiring, sensor, or computer. Somebody built a really nice kart out of a Lexus IS350 if you search around. I believe those are AWD.
BLVCKFLAGD haha, I understand. I worked on my brothers Audi A4 a while back and they definitely have quite a bit of wiring and sensors even in just a 2000. You do make a great point. Truly appreciate your channel and your knowledge!
@@tristonshelton6059 it's insured like it's a normal Miata. Just liability because there's not much left to damage. Don't know what they'd do in an accident.
It wasn't much...probably less than 2k in the whole thing, but lots of hours. We'll probably do a spreadsheet with all the costs and make a video about it.
My dream is to build a single seat go kart pushing 300+ hp I also want it street legal, I have the money for it but I have no connections for others to help me build it, may you please help my dream get accomplished or if we can’t meet in any means, May you please send me parts and everything to build the go kart?
my dream would be to build this kind of car but that will never happen (atleast here in Finland) because of yearly inspection of literally everything. even rust on rear arches are considered dangerous because "it's part of the structure" 🤡 and also gasoline is 2.20€/liter because they are rising up the taxes regardless of the world's situation :(
Yes. It's still a Miata, has the Miata VIN, and is titled, registered, and insured as a Miata. It still has all the required equipment to be legal on the road.

👍
This was a great and informative video! Totally non biased which i loved. Makes me want to get started right away!!! Great job.
Thanks! Glad it was motivating.

Underrated channel, good shit.
appreciate it. Thanks for watching!
LOL...wife caught me watching these..."Glad we go rid of that Miata" was all she said..........currently looking through craigzlist now, hahaha.
I just got an 01 camaro 3.8 5spd. Going to make an exo out of it. The plan is twin turbo! Should be fun!

I’m building my own Deathkart based on Nissan 350z , it’s going to be death drifting machine 🤩

Would love to do another one out of either of those

Planing to do this to my 97 e36 convertible
nice
Miata is the best platform. My cars 10 foot long rn with stock front end. Imo
yeah, they're tiny...imagine chopping a significant amount from the front and rear
Wait I can’t use a fwd like a Pontiac g6 or an old Aveo and or possibly throw the engine in the back?
You can do whatever makes you happy, but that sounds like a lot of work.
I've got a 98 merc slk230 I plan on doing it with. 5 speed supercharged 4 cylinder
I would do an sn95 because they are rwd coupes with a V6 or V8 making pretty good hp and they are CHEAP.
Toyota MR2 would be a certain winner as a kart conversion, or what about a new Beetle, an Audi TT
I would love to chop up a Rx8. Swap the motor with a 13b from a FD

How about a shortened mid engine Chevelle cart.. Smaller ideas have gained traction. I am Enjoying the ride personally, just Weld it into submission !
That would be awesome...although I'd have a really hard time cutting up a chevelle.
