How to build a supercar slaying EXO Car yourself

- Every car enthusiast at some point has wondered what driving a go-kart on the street would be like. Well some people didn’t stop there they actually build a street going go-kart. You might have heard about a growing automotive niche subculture known as "Exo Cars". The concept is simple. Take donor car, remove the entire body and build a custom tube frame chassis on top. Throw away safety, aerodynamics, all body panels, ac, your radio, carpets, basically everything in the pursuit of ultimate lightness.
Why would you destroy a good little sports car? Well the idea behind this is creating a sports car with supercar rivaling performance but for a price most of us can actually afford. For instance you go on Facebook market place, buy a Miata, or a old integra, something small with a decent engine, take it home and use the car as a stress reliever rip off everything. Build a frame and play around with the powertrain, either modify it or swap it out for something better.

At the import alliance after meet in Atlanta years ago everyone was lining up doing burnouts in a parking lot. Probably about 2000 of us. Was crazy. Soon as the blue exo car pulled up cops got there. Ripped him out of the car. People were throwing water bottles at the cops. Think someone even hopped in a cop car locked it and ran off lol. But dude got taken. But random people jumped in his car and pushed it around back of the store onto a trailer and took it to his hotel.
Cop came back to tow it and was shocked it was gone. Remember pulling back at my hotel and seeing the car there on a trailer

When I used to tell people, in the late 90's, that my grandfather's used car lot had for sale a 1974 Puma GTE with the optional 2.1 VW Boxer and it was faster than most sport cars that were sold at the time people would laugh at me. It had 150Hp with 680Kg, a really low center of gravity, rear wheel drive and a mechanic package so easy to maintain or fix that anyone could do it in their own house. It was based on a hatch chassis from the VW brasilia. I loved to drive it. I'm looking for one since I turned 18 but they became quite rare and desirable nowadays with the 2100 engine.

I have been thinking about gutting a Ford Crown Victoria. Similar to an exocar. Since there is such an abundance of parts for the Crown Victoria. Then, I'm doing an LS engine swap. Once again due to the abundance of available parts. Although I would like to gut the doors and roof so that I could drive it in adverse weather conditions. However a Ford Crown Victoria is heavy and even with everything gutted it would still approach 4000lbs or more.

With some of these frame cars.... it could be cheaper and faster to just build a tub frame and get an engine.
Except that you'd have no chance of attaining street legality... when you start with an existing vehicle and take the torch/cutters to it.. you retain legality due to the existing VIN and core structure's crash testing as long as you dont cut in too far. lights, wipers, windscreen, etc... are all still there, just altered within legal limits from the original vehicle's specs,
@@zymol75 you can quite easily get a 100% custom car registered. There is a list in every state that details what you need. A crash test rating is rarely if ever required. Think, motorcycles have no crash rating, they they are still sold and legal.
you shouldn't use a sports car any overweight suv or minivan will be a rocket with the top half and the doors cut off.
