I just wish they would provide a CD along with a remastered CD of the Anthology sets as opposed to just releasing them on iTunes. Thanks for sharing a,
there is a massive collection of everything the beatles recorded between 1962 and 1970. I have it but for some reason when I was moving my massive (1 TB) music collection around it's missing but I'll find it maybe on another drive. It has all the outtakes of every song (it's around 65 gigs of uncompressed audio). The interesting stuff are the 63-64 recordings when they didn't have access to the 4 track at EMI and had to record live to a two track. Once they had a good take in the beginning (usually they would get to the guitar solo and George would flub that) they would start in the middle of the song and usually lead into the guitar solo once they got through the guitar solo they would continue through the end of the song. They would usually record two songs in a 4 hour session. They hardly ever got through a song completely. Once they left the engineers would splice together the best parts into a complete song. I surmise that once the songs were edited the band would come back and do maybe one overdub and that was it. This was before click tracks!! Ringo was such a good time keeper that they were actually able to start again in the middle of the song at the right tempo. You had to be GOOD to make records back then.
I do not recall where I got it; picked it up about 5 years ago. I'm sure there are various copies out there if you look around. Worse comes to worse, you can always burn your own CD copy.
I purchased this before it was taken down and paid quite a hefty price in the UK, but what a gem. The only disappointment was other releases didn't follow. It was also great to own an official Apple release containing the word 'bootleg' in the title. It seemed as though they had given me approval to continue buying Beatles bootlegs😀. Excellent video Mike and yes, congrats on surpassing the 2,000 subscribers...
It's not one I play too often, but revisiting bootleg recordings 1963 while making this video, I did enjoy it again. I wasn't aware of it in 2013, and was happy to find a nice CD copy. Definite shame more did not follow in subsequent years. Thank you for the congrats. I am overwhelmed and extremely grateful for the support and positive feedback.
I was just listening to this a few weeks ago. These would have been nice on a Please Please Me and With the Beatles box set. Very cool listening to the outtakes and the BBC stuff. Good Video. Can you believe I purchased the Beatles Singles Collection box set on Amazon for 127 bucks. How much was it when it first came out again lol
Try and avoid buying anything from Amazon. That company is pure evil, if it means paying a few more dollars more to buy it from an independent record seller then do it. When I found out about Amazon's practices that was it for me, I bough the Abbey Road remix last year from Townsend Music in the U.K. Support these independents if you can.

Thank you so much for the comment. I too am looking forward to the Let It Be material finally being released. Be well and stay safe. Hopefully we'll be discussing a "new" Beatles release real soon.
Another great post, the highlight for me is disc 1, track 22 where George plays extra bars of lead break on Roll Over Beethoven, love it, a really different take.

Back in May I was figuring it would be the end of 2020 before I hit 1,000, and here I am at 2,000. I am so grateful for the positive feedback I've received. Thank you again.
It's amazing that "Free as a Bird" and "Real Love" (the Anthology versions, I mean; not the bootlegged Lennon demos) are now half as old as the next-most-recent release of new Beatles music, "Let It Be."
love me do was half way between now and 1904;116 yrs. before that was 1788 (i think that was the yr. the u.s constitution was written and accepted);232 yrs. before that was 64 yrs. after columbus landed in western hemisphere and discovred rock'n'roll. ✌
I was hoping this was going to be the first in an ongoing series. The mass release box sets of the last few years have been great but they've each missed a few rarities I was hoping to see.
Yeah, releases like bootleg recordings 1963 would have given a little more freedom to throw more stuff out there. The box sets still try to maintain good quality in an interesting track order, so it's less likely to get multiple takes, etc.
I'm sure this and more are coming to CD and vinyl in Super special editions of please please me, with the Beatles, etc like Sgt pepper, white album, Abbey road, and Let it Be. We just have to wait until 2023. Hopefully!!
A friend of mine had a bootleg box set of Beatles BBC recordings. 9 CDs. Lots of repetition of tunes played but it was supposed to be every BBC session. So yeah Universal/Calderstones could put out some more stuff but it would be for copyright protection and any sales would be a bonus. They might have been holding off on releasing more stuff just in case they were going to do box sets of all the early albums (not a lot of takes of stuff and few unreleased tracks). Adding live stuff would fill out the early LPs if they were released as deluxe box sets. And the 60th Anniversary of Please Please Me is coming up in a couple of years.
I would like to have an official box set of all of the BBC material in one place. I'm not sure every recording still exists, but certainly most are still available in one form or another.
Love this !! This was a wonderful but kind of a bizarre release. But why were so many takes including complete takes left off the set: There’s A Place takes 1, 2, and 4 Misery take 6 The takes 3 and 4 of From Me To You were complete. Take 7 contained the basic recording of the released track/song. Plus take 4 of Thank You Girl was complete - take 6 being the source for most of the released track/song. I am probably missing some other material here, but these were left unprotected and ARE NOW IN THE PUBLIC DOMAIN. This enables Beatles collectors to come out of hiding with material that previously would have been illegal to market, but is now legal (even material that has never been bootlegged - like takes of the song All I’ve Got To Do - from what I understand). Maybe this has already been done (and I have yet to become aware of it). Many of us believed, back then, that there would be more releases similar to Bootleg Recordings 1963 to protect the studio work, but that has never come to pass. Am I making a mountain out of a molehill? How much more material is now unprotected and in the public domain???
Absolutely. Not something I listen to regularly, but definitely interesting. Would have made a great series of releases, but after this one ... nothing.
It's thought that the recording of I'm In Love is not from 1963 but from the late 70s. There is no evidence of John playing the piano on any early demos and his voice sounds like the more mature Lennon of the late 70s. I'm inclined to agree with this though it is odd that he chose to revisit this 1963 throwaway he gave to The Fourmost at that time.
Interesting. That could very well be the case, with the demo. He did occasional slip into old bits. The one that I think of immediately is Ain't She Sweet.
This seems like a nice spot for a little fun fact or brag if you like. A family friend's in-law told me about his old job as refuse/garbage removal/collector and guess which was part of his route during his working day ? None other than ABBEY ROAD !
