    Loving the series. To any who are looking, I paired up a wilderness systems lithium battery to a Garmin Striker 4cv vivid. The Wilderness systems lithium battery has issues with Sonars that draw over 1amp or require more than 12v. I have had no issues with the battery and the Garmin.
    Additionally, I was able to pick up the 15ah lithium battery for 60 dollars on clearance due to the discontinuation of it.

      I always recommend the 10 Ah if you can afford the extra money....only because you can run other items off it as well for longer. In reality though the smaller battery will serve you just fine unless you use it for very long periods (days) or run multiple items like phone charger and GoPros from it.

    • @1Cast1Fish
      @1Cast1Fish  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good question! I guess it depends on the type of lid you have. My lids have a rubber ring around them, they are not 100% waterproof to start, so I just close my lid over them. I also have seen some people go all out and use the waterproof connector bulkheads and go through the upper part of the kayak with the cords. Lots of variables at play though depending on kayak type and design

    • @1Cast1Fish
      @1Cast1Fish  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      With the in hull mount the water temp reading will not be accurate. To have accurate water temp readings, you must mount the transducer so that it is in the water

    • @smallieman1756
      @smallieman1756 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@1Cast1Fish I can tell you that properly mounted, your water temp will work but might take 30 minutes or so for your hull to match the water temp. Worse case is you’d be a degree or so off. Hello,
    As I was watching to see what ram light duty mount you used, I clicked on the link you posted for it and it brought me to the item but it didnt have the same attachment on as the one you have. The attachment you have on it in the video, I saw that that comes with the garmin kit itself. Did you just swap out the attachments for both the top and bottom?

      I used the top to mount to the fishfinder base, I removed the bottom so I can attach it to a 1" ball mount on the kayak rail.

      I use the base Striker 4, but I mostly fish small lakes and rivers with my kayak. I do plan on getting one of the new Vivid 4CV's this summer though hopefully. What type of fishing do you primarily do? Another option is to look for the non Vivid model CV's since they are on sale most places to make room for the new Vivid's.

    i just upgraded my set up from a SLA battery to a nocqua 4.4A. i don’t need to charge any other devices except my garmim striker 4 and would like to keep it minimal to save weight. i noticed in some of your other videos, that you don’t use an in-line fuse as supplied by garmin. if i ad a fuse because of the added wire it would basically make that part of my set up really not waterproof. any reasons for concern or issue not using the fuse? this battery is going to save me about 4lbs on my kayak set up!
    my other option is to put this battery with the fuse and part of the power cable from the garmin into a waterproof box i already have and use a cable gland to run just the power cable out.
