      He single-handedly brought my turbo knowledge from 0 to oh my God I think I may just try to do this myself, but kind of freaking out still lol
      And all seriousness, though I was about to buy some RV game finishers at around four grand I believe.
      However, the more research I did, and the more of his videos I watched I realize that Nearly everyone is using existing housings and or Chinese parts in these expensive turbos are selling
      That’s when I start looking at the vivid turbos for $900, once I saw he had a repair kit with a thrust bearing for $40 I was sold!
      I much rather make $1000 mistake in a $4000 mistake.
      I am actually swapping out the thrust bearing as we speak and will be installing my new turbos tonight. When it’s all said and done, I should be doing over 600 hp in my 335i!
      The fact that I was able to save probably $2000 at least, really made it possible for me to spend that money on fueling and upgraded ignition.

    If i were to do a rebuild and the 9 blade exhaust wheel upgrade which requires no machining can you explain the process of reassembly in reference to the balance of the wheel. What needs to be rebalanced if i were to upgrade the exhaust wheel?

    • @turbolabamerica
      @turbolabamerica  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The best thing to do for that would for use to balance an assembly for you and send it to you. I'm limited on Compressor nuts though. The balancing machine I use is $10,000 + new so it's not a typical do it yourself project if you need balancing

    • @gentlemandriven3198
      @gentlemandriven3198 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      could you explain the process of reassembly after a rebuild, for example if i were to not replace the exhaust wheel to eliminate the need for balancing.

    So with this rebuild, am I to expect the same life as the original, or better? What about the wastegate?

    • @turbolabamerica
      @turbolabamerica  8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +Aaron Goodrum I haven't had any come back yet so I don't know if it's a permanent fix. When I talked to other people they said that they can make an adjustment I. The tune to fix the issue permanently but that may just be hear say, it really need 40,000 miles of testing or more to confirm it a permanent fix.
      The oem wastegate parts and my wastegate parts are both stainless steel. My point being it was never a materials problem. It's a mechanical design problem or a tune problem.
      I may not be able to prevent the problem but I save people a lot of money verses buying new turbos.

      I think it just has a part to do with BMW culture. These are status cars.
      I’ve been part of the community for probably well over 10 years, and just being on the forums, there is a tad bit of arrogance that permeates, especially in the M3 categories lol.
      I mean I must admit, I hate you bear some of the stereotypes, I still can’t find my turn signal for example.
      This probably wasn’t the answer you’re looking for, but that’s the best I could do bro ,
      And certainly don’t think that this is a combination of all BMW drivers, as anything it’s just a few rotten apples. I love the scene and I wouldn’t change it for anything.

      Thanks for that! Quick question, if I plan on rebuilding my 335i turbos, and using one of your kits, do I still need to get it balanced? Aren't the shafts/impellars balanced already..??
      Thanks!

    • @turbolabamerica
      @turbolabamerica  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      you have to mark the compressor wheel, compressor nut, and shaft location, before disassembly. I have a balancing machine here because the upgrade has to be rebalanced. the tolerances are really tight on the tdo3's only .004 gram inch according to my balancing book. Larger turbochargers have a much greater tolerance.

    the waste gate flap on my rear turbo is open and when I push on it it's like it has pressure built up and won't close. can it be fixed or just need a new one?

    • @turbolabamerica
      @turbolabamerica  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It should be open when the engine is not running. If the wastegate door is open when the car is running you likely need the wastegate repair, but it is possible that you have a leak is tge vacuum line to the actuator causing it to not close but it's more common for the parts needing replacement or repair

I have about 35 sets left.

      +Turbo Lab America This parts i can change by myself with my brother ? he have workshop. My friend who repair Turbo said this is for short time because problem its in bush inside housing of turbocharger this new parts should be little bigger to fit in old kneaded bush because this is the westegate rattle problem how You think ?

    • @turbolabamerica
      @turbolabamerica  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Your friends assumption is wrong, the kit I sell includes a new bushing, wastegate arm, and flapper tab. It fixes the problem. If you need a set urgently, I recommend picking up a set while you can because I'm selling these everyday and I already ordered more but I won't get them for another 30 to 45 days.

    hey bud is this service you offer ? can someone send you a pair of snails to rebuild ?

    • @turbolabamerica
      @turbolabamerica  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Hamza Chouki Yes, we rebuild them for 180 each, we offer the upgrade for 750$. Im getting ready to write a cnc program for the compressor housings. The bad thing about these turbos is that they have a problem with the wastegate flapper arm and bushing clearance wearing out really quickly causing the turbo to not boost. I am working on getting replacement parts for that.
      Lately i noticed the oil deflector has a poor design from factory on these turbos, so i have been trimming that back. The oil deflector is in the way of oil trying to drain which can be why some turbos on these cars blow oil prematurely, even if the turbo is still good. I have noticed some odd mistakes with factory turbos like this.

    This type of turbo must be balanced at 100,000 rpm. Why didn't you do that? Each core needs to be balanced. You don't have a machine?

    Without VSR balancing of the rotating assembly completed as CHRA you are just producing a pile of junk.
    Sorry to say but your statement that balancing is not necessary as the components are already balanced just shows you have no clue or finding excuses for not having a VSR. Not recommended to buy this. Not at all.

    • @turbolabamerica
      @turbolabamerica  8 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      I can cartridge balance the turbo with my balancer too. If your theory was true then the turbos that I'm building would be failing and coming back under warranty but I haven't got any back yet, it's been years, and I build these all the time. I have 5 sets that I'm building right now for customers.
