My brother's dad worked from 16 to 42, full-time when he hit 18. Then in his mid 50s he had a few part time jobs after my mom divorced him. He told my brother last October he'd get a part time job soon. Still hasn't. He can't work full-time because he won't get his social security. He can't be getting that much.
I feel sympathy for anyone who actually worked and paid in.

Love Adam though I disagree with him on a LOT like Israel did anyone see this?
20 year old down syndrome Gaza boy left to bleed to death after IDF dog was allowed to savage him. his family were forced out of house for 7 days, and not allowed to talk to him as they locked him in a side room,
when finally got back to this house they found his body decomposing on floor- untreated for the wounds as dog had savaged him and severed artery in his arm.
Mohammed Bahr had mind of a 1 year old and needed help feeding. God love him.
I dont remember ANY US politician or news studio mention this even. shame on them ALL. - but the REST OF THE WORLD covered it.
my daughter works exclusively with Down's adults she helps with all home needs but carers also take them bowling, crazy golf, Lazer Tag, karaoke, Museums, enriching their lives - [we - via our local council pay for 100% of thwir care] I can't DARE EVEN show her this story it would crush her.
just imagine if the boy were british or israeli or American? WOULD WE CARE THEN?
"The Israeli army has admitted that a Palestinian man with Down syndrome who died after being attacked and injured by an army dog was abandoned by its soldiers.
The army's admission comes two weeks after Middle East Eye originally reported on the death of MUHAMMED BAHR (www.middleeasteye.net/news/gaza-palestinian-down-syndrome-left-die-israeli-soldiers-after-combat-dog-attack) following a raid by Israeli soldiers on his family home in eastern Gaza City's Shujaiya neighbourhood on 3 July.
His family told MEE they had been forced at gunpoint to leave behind the 24-year-old after he was mauled by the dog. Relatives described Muhammed as "like a one-year-old", and said he needed help eating.
Family members contacted the Red Cross daily for a week, pleading for Muhammed's release or medical treatment, but were told that the Israeli army was not cooperating.
After a week, and once Israeli troops withdrew from Shujaiya, they returned to find his decomposing body at their home.

The Israeli army initially told journalists (web.archive.org/web/20240716192014/www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cz9drj14e0lo) it was checking into reports about Muhammed.
'At this point, the person remains, mostly likely, alone in the building'
      - Israeli army spokesperson
But an army spokesperson told +972 (www.mekomit.co.il/ps/137621/%C2%A0), the BBC (www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cz9drj14e0lo) and other outlets this weekend that soldiers left a man fitting his description after an RPG missile hit their tank, injuring soldiers and killing one.
"The force that was treating the person who was bitten in the apartment had to leave to provide treatment to the injured soldiers," the spokesperson said.
"At this point, the person remains, mostly likely, alone in the building."
The spokesperson added: "The IDF regrets the harm to civilians during the fighting."
      'There is no Muhammed'
The Bhar family had been evacuated at least five times since 7 October when Israeli forces raided Shujaiya under the cover of heavy air strikes on 27 June.
On 3 July, Israeli troops raided their home where they had been besieged, first sending in dogs which attacked Muhammed and started to maul him, his mother Nabila Bhar has told (www.middleeasteye.net/news/gaza-palestinian-down-syndrome-left-die-israeli-soldiers-after-combat-dog-attack)MEE.

Once the soldiers entered, she said she pleaded with them to take the dog off her son as she tried to explain that he was disabled.
They eventually took Muhammed to a separate room where he was "humming in pain", his mother said.
"Now and then, they would open the door, look at him, and say 'Oskot' [Arabic for stay silent], then close it again," Bhar said.
"The soldiers then gestured to each other. A doctor who came with them entered the room, and Muhammed suddenly went silent."
Bhar suggests the doctor injected him with a sedative, but she could not see or hear him after that.
"I asked the soldier, 'Where is Muhammed?' He told me, 'Muhammed is gone.' I asked again, 'Gone where?' He answered, 'He's gone. There i
      s no Muhammed," she said.
The family was then forced to leave the house, and Muhammed was left behind.
      Body decayed
When they returned to the house, relatives found his body in the room where he had been kept, covered with blood and fluids seeping from his body as it began to decompose.
A tourniquet had been put on his wounded left arm, probably to stop the bleeding, his brother, Jebril, told MEE.
'I cannot bear to think of what they did to him, or how they left him to die like this'
      - Nabila Bhar, Muhammed's mother

    • @marcstreiff6067
      @marcstreiff6067 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

No, not really. The problem still existing concerning SS is the amount Congress borrowed but never paid back into the system. This should include appropriate interest dividends... SS should be one economic fund which cannot be borrowed from & where every working person pays into... The concept is quite simple but the reality of Congressional members not knowing how to wrap their brains around domestic fiscal policy is the tipped over oil drum in the hallway.. SS should not be on the wy to bankruptcy in less than 10 years. Everyone of us crunch our own monetary numbers & figure out how to navigate so tht down the rod in the future we are solvent with surplus economy resources... Congress needs to listen to the financial math people & realize policy decisions solely based on partisanship loyalty is the recipe for insolvency throughout our entire future economy...

    • @lawsonj39
      @lawsonj39 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

@@marcstreiff6067 That's not how economics actually works. You're still stuck on that 2000 campaign nonsense about a Social Security "lockbox." In reality, Congress creates money by allocating it; it doesn't have to depend on tax receipts. If it creates too much, you get inflation, but as long as the economy continues increasing production, creating money--or credit--isn't a problem. And rmszucs1's point is correct: raising taxes on the wealthy is a vital part of solving SS solvency.

I'm sorry Adam, I'm glad you left the dark side but I just can't listen to you talk about the deficit and not own the major role that the then Republican party played in the creation of this problem. Tax cuts to the wealthiest 1% ( Excuse me. I have to take a break here to extinguish my hair on fire! ) and now who needs to pay for this? The poorest and most vulnerable Americans. Your messed up for profit medical system eats up more of your GDP than any country with Universal Healthcare. Your Welfare system is a disgrace. Your for profit prisons are quasi-criminal and nothing but a place to turn petty criminals into hardened criminals. The National Debt is not being created by poor people. It is being driven by the policies that favor the Super Wealthy over the average American.
This is why we have ended up with a criminal like Trump. You need to look much deeper into your understanding of what creates wealth in a country. Kleptocracy, the credo of the Republican Party, means some people and their friends get very rich and everbody else gets by on the crumbs. You know as does Tim that dark money has rotted the political system from within. Until there is a thoughtful historic reform we will keep on falling into this morasse over and over again. Think before you advocate policies that will damage the fabric of American society even further. The poor are NOT the villains here. Think again!

@@browneyedgirl6050 And lest we forget the tarif war Trump engaged in with China is why we had to step in and rescue American farmers who could nolonger sell their crops in China. The unintended downstream consequences of tarif wars are too numerous to list here. There are many ways in which the American manufacturing landscape would need to be restructured to compensate for the loss off producers of say microchips. This is one area where I actually think we might be better to have a robust domestic production but we would also have to be willing to pay a higher price for goods that rely on this technology. I know that for security reasons this is an area that the Biden administration is working on and investing in. It takes time however building the facilities and training the work force and creating a stable market for these products. I suspect more and more it will be important to develop these homegrown industries for reasons of national security. We learned this lesson during the pandemic.

I remember when in ‘70s the 18% interest didn’t stop any Republicans I knew from buying houses and muscle cars. We had gas rationing, it was inconvenient, yes but we knew it wouldn’t last forever. In WWII people were willing to do anything for our troops and the war effort. They knew like today, keeping Democracy was the only game in town. Sugar, flour, butter, chocolate, and other foods were rationed, so the troops could have what they needed. And gas was rationed too. Women learned to make airplanes. No silk stockings for women, sacrificed for silk needed for parachutes. Front yards were tilled for Victory Gardens. No whining like today. But we had a government totally backing what was needed for our troops. When we get a “working” not whining House and Senate again, then we can talk the money. No body seems too bothered about what Trumps whole administration stole from the Americans who needed it most. Republicans don’t mind running the deficit to the moon. Be fair Americans have had very little to work with on the other side. And the good Republicans that want to do their best work are treated like crap, threatened, and that is not right. Biden has done a great job so far, is he perfect? No, but he would never hand our country to our enemies.

No TVshow would want Diaper Don or Dementia Don on any show. They would have diaper duty and have to tolerate nefarious smells all day. We all know Trump farted and slept through all the court proceedings!

TO: Adam Kinzinger. Hopefully this helps. The reason "Dementia Donnie" even remembers Joan Rivers is because she was the Star in an especially riveting season of "Celebrity Apprentice". Although I've never had a positive thought about "Done" T****, I was a huge fan of Joan & always enjoyed her acerbic wit. Next up, as a former resident of HOU for 3.5 decades, I enjoy your backdrop which is a reflection of my handsome, former home. I also appreciate knowing you left Illinois to relocate your family to The Woodlands, TX, a suburb of "Greater Houston". AND, most importantly, I REALLY appreciate how both you & Liz Cheney did the right thing & put country over party at THE critical moment in recent political history. YOU are a TRUE PATRIOT! Well done.👍💙🌈

Hold on there now, inflation was out of control from feb 2021 to june 2022, but has been 3%, a totally acceptable number, since july 2022. There is a group of economists that think 4% is an optimal target. Inflation is not a problem now, it is the residual high prices that the mainstream media won't let go of, 2 years later.
Social security is easy to solve, remove the cap and apply the 3% to all income. The top 1% won't miss the income and it will have the benefit of moving unused wealth from the top, to the middle, where it will grow the gdp. I know, this is a political impossibility, but it is how you should frame the problem.

That Jerome Powell said he won't lower intrest rates until inflation is at 2%! Intrst rates need lowered now. That Jerome Powell really irks me,but not as much as Alan Greenspan did! That guy was nuts!

There is a third alternative other than "lying" or "confused" although they both may be part of the toxic mix. The third alternative is "bullshit". He is unmoored from what is true. He couldn't care less about what it true and he has been doing it so long that he wouldn't know what's true if it walked up and slapped him repeatedly in the face. "On Bullshit" by Harry S Frankfurt is a great delineation of the difference. Bullshit is performative.

That's ok. Truly this is how it should be. We can disagree on policy. I don't agree anymore than you do, but this is how it is supposed to work. I hear stuff like this and I don't get how the center right/center left party is supposed to work. Taxes are a big disagreement.
